Landscape Watering Restrictions Continue The city continues with outdoor watering conservation measures for all residential water users. Residents with odd-ending house numbers will water Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Residents with even-ending house numbers will water Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Spot watering with a hose is allowed on Sun-days for everyone. Restrictions are enforced with a warn-ing for the first violation, a $50 fine for the second viola-tion, and a $200 fine for the third and subsequent viola-tions. The policy is in effect from April 15 to October 15. Commercial, church, park, and golf properties may be on different schedules, including daytime watering, to offset water demand. As we begin another watering season, we encourage everyone to implement water conservation practices. Visit conservewater.utah.gov for info about water-wise plants and other methods of conserving water. Water is not a re-newable resource, so we need to use it wisely!

STORM DRAIN TIP OF THE MONTH We Can Make a Difference! Storm drains lead to rivers, lakes, and streams. When con-taminants enter storm drains, they pollute our water re-sources. Ground water runoff can pick up contaminants, including sediment, oil, gas, fertilizer, pet waste, grass clippings, car wash water, etc. By making some simple changes, you can help prevent polluted runoff: Fix auto leaks promptly Properly dispose of used motor oil Don’t top off when you fill up Put trash in its place Never dump anything down a storm drain!

Parking for Boats and Trailers A friendly reminder not to use public streets for long-term parking of cars, trucks, trailers (for work or play), RV’s, boats, campers, basketball standards, etc. According to city ordinances, such items cannot remain on the street for more than 48 hours. Keep all of the above-mentioned items on hard surfaces on your property.

Installing a Fence, Shed, or Retaining Wall? Prior to installation, please visit the city’s website or call the city office for important information. The website pro-vides a download and instructions for submitting the re-quired installation permit. Call Blue Stakes before you dig; it’s the law! Dial 811 to reach Blue Stakes.

Street Projects During the summer months various street projects are scheduled throughout the city. Please be patient and cour-teous as the construction is in progress. These city projects are in addition to the current, ongoing Canyon Road as-phalt replacement project.

Door-to-Door Solicitors Help keep our neighborhoods safe. Ask solicitors to show a city-issued photo badge or instruct them to obtain a li-cense from the city. Report violations or nuisances to po-lice dispatch 24/7 at 801-794-3970.

Mayor’s Message Family Festival 2018 has finally ar-rived! The Family Festival Commit-tee has been hard at work for several months to plan a variety of activities for the entire

week, including several new events, such as the Teen Swim Party, the Amazing Race, U-Jam, YCC Park in the Dark, Pickleball Tournament, and the Outdoor Adventure Zone. This is my favorite week in Cedar Hills, as I love seeing friends, family, and neigh-bors gather together at the various events. Cedar Hills is a wonderful community, and Family Festival is one of the things that contributes to that hometown feel we love about living here. I want to thank everyone who serves on the Family Festival committee. The week consists of months of be-

hind-the-scenes planning by volunteers and city staff. Through their hard work and dedication, Family Festival has grown and offers more activities every year, in order to have something for everyone in our community to enjoy.

I also want to thank the many volunteers who serve during the week to make sure every event runs smoothly. We can't do this without

volunteers, and we appreciate their willingness to serve. Family Festival runs June 4 through 9. Find the sched-ule of events at cedarhills.org/festival. I hope you and your family enjoy the many events planned for the week and I look forward to seeing you as we kick off summer in Cedar Hills!

Fireworks & Fire Restrictions With the fireworks season upon us, the city declares its support for the Lone Peak Fire Department to limit fire risk in our community by adopt-ing a resolution (City Code 5-2-3A4), which outlines these restrictions:

Fireworks: All aerial and non-stationary fireworks, i.e. ground flower types, are prohibited inside and within 200 feet of the highlighted areas of the re-strictions map and within 200 feet of any undeveloped lot. The map can be viewed at cedarhills.org/fires2018. Addi-tionally, ALL fireworks and aerials are prohibited in city parks, the golf course, and all other city-owned properties.

Open Fires: All open fires east of Canyon Road with-in city limits are prohibited, unless a screen is used.

Cedar Hills officials and staff wish all residents a fun and safe summer. Please use caution and good judgement when using fireworks or building open fires. For any ques-tions please contact the City of Cedar Hills at (801) 785-9668, ext. 100.
