Christmas opening Times: Wrap Around Care will be closing for Christmas at 6pm on 20th December 2019. We will be reopening for Holiday Club on 2nd January 2020.

Fire Evacuation Procedure - Parents

If the fire alarm is to sound whilst you are in assembly in the school hall, please be aware of our evacuation protocol:

Children will be evacuated immediately and looked after by their class teacher and support staff.

Parents are to remain seated whilst children are evacuated, please allow us to take care of your children ensuring we can account for all children as quick as possible.

The Headteacher or one of the Senior Leadership Team will then give you clear instructions on what you are to do to next.

Road Safety Week - All

Road Safety Week begins November 18th. A big thank you to our Year 6 Road Safety Heroes who are working hard to support this initiative. A key reminder for this time of year is to be visible when walking home as the nights are getting much darker. Please stay safe.

Polite reminders - All

School uniform - Please check that your child’s uniform is named so that we can return it to them when it arrives in lost property. Clubs - If your child is unable to attend their after school club, please send in a note or call the school office to notify us of their planned absence so that club leaders do not spend time looking for their group at the end of the day. Coats - As the weather is starting to turn please can we remind you to ensure your child comes to school in a coat every day. Many aspects of our learning take place outdoors and children are much more comfortable and able to concentrate if they are warm. Thank you P.E Kit - We also still continue to do P.E outdoors if weather is dry so some warm outdoor P.E kit is recommended i.e- tracksuit top and tracksuit bottoms. Thank you

Christingle Service – All

This year’s Christingle service is at St Peter’s Church on Sunday 1st December at 4pm. The Christingle is a lovely

service which raises money for the Children’s Society to help extremely vulnerable children in England and Wales and in order to raise this money we ask if the children will take home a

special Children’s society money box and fill it with some coins. The children can then bring their filled up boxes to the service at St Peter’s. The boxes will be available from the 25th November in school.

Christmas @ Oundle Primary - All

Christmas Post starts on Monday 2nd December AND NOT BEFORE!

All Christmas cards will need a stamp on, which can be purchased from Y6 children in the D.T area and our Christmas postal

team will distribute cards throughout the school. The money raised will go to a

charity chosen by the School Council. Can parents please ensure that the address on the front of the envelope gives as much detail as possible, with the child’s full name, class and teacher written clearly on the front. “Lucy in Year 3” is not guaranteed to get to the right person, I’m afraid!

Nativity Services for FS – Y3

Our Nativity Service is to be held in St. Peter’s Church, Oundle on Monday 2nd December at 2.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. After the rehearsal on Friday 29

th November and the

performance on the afternoon of Monday 2nd

December, please collect your child from St. Peter’s Church. If you have older siblings, please collect them afterwards and staff will keep hold of them until you get to Cotterstock Road.

Upper KS2 Readings/ Carol Service All families of children in year 4, 5 & 6 are invited to attend St. Peter’s Church at 7pm on Tuesday, 10

th

December where children will be performing in their Christmas Service. We are expecting that all children will be present so we can plan for all to take part. Please let us know by 16

th November if your child is unable to attend with a

reason so we can plan accordingly.

Christmas Lunch - All

All children will have the opportunity to enjoy a Christmas lunch on Friday, 13

th December. Christmas dinner menus

are available online and orders can be placed now. If your child is bringing a packed lunch into school on that day, it would be great if you could decorate it in a Christmas

theme with tinsel, wrapping paper etc. to make it more festive!

Wear a Christmas Jumper for Charity Day - All

On Friday, 13th

December we will be supporting the ‘Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day’ at OPS. The day will be a non-uniform day and children can wear a Christmas themed jumper ... perhaps in Christmas colours or decorated with some tinsel. We do NOT expect anyone to go out to buy something special for the occasion. Just use your initiative and decorate a jumper you already have. We would be grateful for any silver donations on the day.

Christmas Show - All

All children will be seeing a performance of Peter Pan on Monday, 17

th December in the school hall.

Health and Safety - All

For health and safety reasons and due to the large numbers of staff cars and buses on the school grounds, can we kindly remind parents not to park on the school premises. There have been recent concerns for children who are running between cars and buses across the car park. The children’s safety is paramount. We are issuing permits for those parents / carers, who for medical reasons, are allowed onto site. Please see Mrs Chance if you believe you need one.

Road Safety - All

Now that the evenings are getting darker and street lighting is reduced, can we remind parents that simple reflector arm bands are a useful way of making sure

your children are seen by road users on the way home.

Parentview - All

Thank you to the parents who have registered on Parentview and given their opinion of our school. This feedback is invaluable to us and we would urge as many of you as possible to register and make use of the site. You can do this by entering “Ofsted Parentview” into a search engine or, to make it even easier by following this link: https://www.oundleceprimary.org/parent-feedback Please remember that Parentview is only one way to express your feelings about the school. Please continue to feel free to come in and discuss any issues directly.

Celebration Assembly - All

One of the great traditions at OPS is the weekly Friday celebration assembly which parents are welcome to attend when their child is receiving an award. We notify

parents on the Wednesday of the week of the assembly so arrangements can be made to attend. In order to support your planning, please find the dates relating to the assemblies for different areas of the school below. I am sure we will have lots of opportunities to share with you the great work your children are doing.

Junior Scott Society – Y4-Y6

Junior Scott Society Tuesday 12th November, 7:30 pm The Great Hall, Oundle School, PE8 4GH For: Any interested Adults, and Children in Year 4 and older (children must be accompanied by a responsible adult) Dr Jonathan Allday (physicist and author of ‘Apollo in Perspective’) will talk about the science behind the Moon missions. Apollo in Perspective: In this 50th anniversary year, we can look back on the amazing achievements of the Apollo program and those few moonwalkers who are still with us. However, to fully understand what happened in that period, it is important to look also at the wider technical achievements both in terms of design, civil engineering and rocketry. This talk will cover these aspects, show some rarely seen images and tell stories about what actually happened on some of the missions.
