What is our Project? Our project is aimed at creating more peer and mentor connections for students here at OSU by creating better information flow from student accessible resources and aggregating this with the University Exploration Programs (EXP) resources to form a database with information about any given major. Plan of ActionOur plan of action consists of the following steps:

Interview ProfessorsFilm various professors classesAcquire a list of Senior Bank ParticipantsCreate mock-up webpageCombine all the information on the page (Professors interviews, class recordings, and Senior Bank data)Hand over work to the Universitys Exploration Program for future useInterview Questions for ProfessorsHow would you define your field of study? Why did you choose your field of study? What are you currently researching or working on?What got you interested in this field? Was there something in your past that influenced your decision to enter this field? What might be a challenge for students trying to enter this field? Is there anything that you turned away from when you were trying to determine what you wanted to study?Interview Questions for ProfessorsWhats a fun fact about what you do?Is there a specific experience that you would encourage students to have at this stage in their lives?Would you be willing to have one of your classes in a course videotaped for interested students to see what they would be doing in the class/major?Would you be willing to allow prospective students sit in on any of your classes?Would you be willing to have an online profile for a more introspectively connected campus?Sample Interview Audio ClipHere is an interview that we conducted with Justin DArms, the Chair of the Philosophy Department at The Ohio State University. It is currently being transcribed to examine the quality of the questions and future areas for improvement.

Interview GoalsThe format of all the future interviews is expected to be in a similar vein as the one posted for you to listen to on the previous slide. The goal is to ignite the passions that students have for subjects that they believe themselves to be interested in. There is currently no place where students can find professors input on their own fields or their personal insight as to how or why they entered the field that they have.Long Term GoalOur long term goal is to be able to gather student feedback on our webpage and its content so that the Exploration Program can determine if this is an avenue that they would like to pursue for use by EXP students among others. Access to this system by everyoneOSU students, faculty members, and people who do not attend The Ohio State Universitywould be the ideal end goal for this project. It could potentially be implemented into a new open source tool that the Exploration Program is experimenting with called Adapt. An example of how this information could be formatted in the future can be found below.http://178.62.91.230/preview/5442bef7b2497e7a64283f61/54a180c0cf174749073f33f4/main.html2015-02-25T16:03:30-0500com.apple.VoiceMemos (iPhone OS 8.1.3)
