Osteoporosis is a serious condition
• It is where bones become porous.
• It actually effects over 25 million and growing numbers in people today.
The Skeletal System Supports and Protects
• You may think bones are dry and brittle but, bones are alive and wet.
• The human skeleton has 206 bones that protects the internal organs.
• Having a strong and healthy skeleton will benefit you for the rest of you life.
Osteoporosis Affects Many People
• Like earlier, osteoporosis effects over 25 million people.
• The reason this might happen starts in a persons pre-teen years.
The National Institute of Health
• The NIH says that Americans only have problems with osteoporosis, because we don’t get enough.
• Teens calcium don’t consume enough calcium after the age of 10 and starts to drink soft and diet drinks.
Calcium Rich Foods
• Foods that are rich in calcium are foods that build bone.
• People should have at least 4 servings of dairy products a day.
• These foods are low, non-fat, reduced milk, yogurt, and cheeses.
Exercise is Beneficial
• Exercise strengthens, builds and shapes bone.
• People should exercise everyday at least 30 minutes each and every day.
• 50% of bone growth happens during pre-teens years.
