The OSR45 Overheight Frame is attached under any parent spreader with ISO standard base measure and equipped with overheight frame lifting lugs. The cargo is lifted by the twistlocks of the spreader, the overheight frame twistlocks act as “extended legs” to the spreader. This means a much faster and safer handling of goods than with chains. As the spreader telescopes, the overheight frame telesco- pes simultaneously, allowing the unit to handle 20, 30, 40 and 45 foot containers with overheight cargo. The OSR45 Overheight Frame is only mechanically operated and requires no power supply or hydraulics, neither for attaching nor operation. The OSR45 can be delivered in a standard 20 foot container for easy on-site mounting, thus reducing transportation costs. The overheight frame can be fast and automatically con- nected and disconnected to the storage fixture. The fixture can be placed on the ground or attached to the crane legs. OSR45 Overheight Frame

IntroductIon

The Bromma OSR45 Overheight Frame has two short side profiles and one telescopic 20 to 45 foot beam that are bolt-ed together. The telescoping runs on glide plates and fol-lows the spreader telescoping. The overheight frame can be connected to any parent spreader with ISO standard base measures, independent of twistlock rotation directions. The spreader must be equipped with lifting lugs (can be ordered separately).

The overheight frame is stored on a storage fixture when not used. The storage fixture can be placed on the ground or mounted on the crane legs. It can also be transported by the storage fixture or a fork lift truck. At the bottom it is equipped with holes for twistlocks / conlocks identical to a 20 foot container.

The cargo is connected to the over height frame by locking the spreader twistlocks, and disconnected by unlocking.

Latch

A latch connects the overheight frame to a lug on the spreader. The latch is connected to a push rod assembly. The push rod is pressed upwards when stowed on the stor-age fixture, thus releasing the latch from the spreader lug.

A plunger protrudes into a hole in the frame, preventing the latch from being released.

When the push rod is pressed upwards, a wedge releases the plunger, and the latch can be released.

When the twistlocks are in unlocked position the overheight frame is held in the spreader by the latches, holding the lugs on the spreader.

When the twistlock is in locked position the overheight frame is held in the spreader by the twistlocks. The latches are still locked, but there is a clearance between the latch and the lug.

twIstLock

The overheight frame twistlock acts as an extension of the spreader twistlock. Both spreader and overheight frame twistlocks unlock and lock simultaneously.

Each twistlock incorporates a landing pin with a mechani-cal interlock to prohibit unlock operation when under load, similar to the Bromma spreaders. The twistlock pins are proof load tested to 40 tonnes.

An index unit makes the overheight frame twistlock move fully 90° when unlocking or locking, eliminating any slack in the twistlock system.

To pick up the overheight frame from the storage fixture the spreader twistlocks are locked and then unlocked. A cam wheel in the storage fixture releases the push rod, which will engage the latches to the spreader lugs, and the overhe-ight frame can be lifted from the storage fixture.

When leaving the overheight frame on the storage fixture, a release mechanism in the storage fixture presses the push rod on the overheight frame upwards, unlocking the latches. This will release the overheight frame from the spreader.

The storage fixture can be lifted by the spreader together with the overheight frame with the twistlocks in locked position. It can also be transported by a fork lift truck or locked to a trailer.
