• 1650 employees, around 1000 in the Paediatric part of the clinic.
• Covers the entire spectrum of children's diseases and women's diseases including cancer and 9500 births
• Brings together all regional hospital functions
– treatment of extremely premature births less than 26 weeks
– cancer in children
– heart diseases in children
• In the Norwegian context, large enough admission areas of ordinary patients to obtain enough training for highly specialised assignments
• Nine National Competence Centres and two National Quality Registers
• 23 professors
• 175 scientific articles last year

Infectious diseases in children
• About 7000 children received in our hospital annually. More than half of them with infectious diseases
• Norway’s biggest department for infectious diseases in children- 12 full isolates
• Special competence in tbc, HIV, hepatitis, meningitis and tropical diseases (malaria, typhoid fever).

• 250 – 300 heart catheterizations and and similar nuber ov open heart operations in children per year.
