Set in the heart of Brighton Beach, Original Love

tells the coming of age story of Danny, the son of a

powerful Russian mob boss (Alex Veadov, We Own the

Night, Act of Valor).

Original Love exposes audiences to the contemporary

Russian American emigre culture of New York City,

sharing its aspirations, its romance, its decadence,

and its danger. Against this backdrop, Original Love

tells a universal story of love, betrayal and family.

The film's writer-director David Gutnik is a first

generation Russian-American and was born and raised in

Brooklyn.

The film was financed on Kickstarter in March 2013. Our

team raised $30,000 from 200 backers in a month.

OVERVIEW

Original Love takes place in one night, during the

30th wedding anniversary of a Russian gangster

involved in Medicare Fraud. The central character is

the gangster's son, Danny.

Danny works for his father, and on the night of the

party is directed to kill one of the guests who has

been caught stealing from the family. But when Danny

walks in on his father having an affair, the evening

changes course.

At its core, Original Love is a story about a family

in crisis.


THE STORY

The short film, Original Love, is part of a larger

story — a feature-length film. The feature film is

about a Russian crime family involved in Medicare

Fraud on Brighton Beach.

It’s time for a film about Russian-Americans that

challenges broad popular conceptions and Cold War

clichés. The making of the short film is a critical

first step on the path to fulfilling a long held

dream to tell this necessary, extraordinary story.

ALEX VEADOV - ANTONYou may recognize Alex for his role in WE OWN THE NIGHT, where he played

alongside Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix, as well as his supporting

DAVID GUTNIK - WRITER / DIRECTORDavid is a filmmaker from Brooklyn, NY. He earned his MFA in directing

at Columbia University’s Graduate Film School and received his bachelor’s

degree at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service. His film and video work

has been featured on MTV, CNN, AOL, Huffington Post, vanityfair.com, the

Sundance Channel and at festivals globally.


MEET THE DIRECTOR

MICHELLE BOOSO - EXECUTIVE PRODUCERMichelle is a producer based in NYC. As a professional social connector

and event planner, she has developed a wide network spanning multiple

industries. As the founder and C.E.O. of The Matchbook, an innovative

matchmaking business, she brings to the team extensive experience in

project management, event planning, and “getting things done.” A born

and raised Brooklynite, Michelle graduated from Boston University

and received her Masters from NYU.

ERIN ABELN - PRODUCERErin is a NYC-based multi media producer with credits in film, photo,

fashion, and art; she focuses mainly on commercial and still shoots

for a wide variety of clients including Ford Motors, the US Olympic

Committee, Raindance Film Festival, Travel Channel, and MADE Fashion

Week at Milk Studios. In between projects, she recharges by traveling

to new places; 25 countries and counting.

MARINA BEJARANO - ASSOCIATE PRODUCERMarina Bejarano is an attorney/producer/actor and mother of three.

She has been a legal consultant to, and writer for, the on air legal

personalities at Fox News, and has starred in the Vagina Monologues

off Broadway. Marina was born in the former Soviet Union, was raised

in Brooklyn, and is a graduate of New York University and New York

Law School.

ORIN WILF - ASSOCIATE PRODUCEROrin is the founder and President of Skyline Developers, which

operates and develops residential and commercial properties nationwide.

He is also a minority owner of the New York Yankees. This is Orin’s first

film venture.

HELEN VAYSMAN - ASSOCIATE PRODUCERHelen is an attorney, producer, and mother of 1 daughter, living

in NYC. Helen is an alumni of New York University and Brooklyn Law

School, currently a practicing attorney with concentrations in real

estate and corporate law. Helen was born in the former Soviet Union

and immigrated to the United States at the age of 13.
