RobeRt PiPeR: What insPiRes you in life?

Neil Jackson: Wow, what inspires me in life? Thats a big question to open with. I get inspired with passion, I think. I get inspired by people who are just passionate, and it doesnt matter what they do or what theyre passionate about. I just think passion is such an embraceable thing, whether its the guy in the coffee shop whos making the coffee or a bricklayer who loves making walls. I love watching people who love what they do, and I think thats very inspirational.

RP: hoW do you stay healthy?

NJ: I stay healthyI mean, Ive got a sports background and an athletic background. I was in competitive sports since the age of five. I was a personal trainer before I was an actor and a personal trainer for the first few years while I was acting and getting my thesis. Fitness has always been a big part of my life, so I train twice a day, every day, as I always have done, but also eating very healthfully. I dont eat sugar, I dont have caffeine, I dont eat wheatI look after my body outside and inside. Its just a part of who Ive always been.

RP: What neW PRojects do you have coming uP?

NJ: Were finishing up Sleepy Hollow at the moment, and then, on top of that, I have a couple of projects. Im in the process of recording my second album. I released my first album two years ago, which is called The Little Things. [The second album] is a rock album, so Im recording that at the moment. The first singles going to come out by the middle of January, were hoping. Whatever downtime I get, Im working on that.

RP: What tyPe of ReseaRch goes into PRePaRing foR a Role?

NJ: Depends on the role, depends entirely on what Im doing. For something like Sleepy Hollow, I read the original Washington Irving

novel and did a little bit of research about the period, about how people would be, just to get a kind of background. Then, most of the research Ive had to do is with the writers and directors. Ill pick their brains and ask a lot of questions. I like to make sure I can zero in on what I want to, situations I want to pick for the character.

RP: you mentioned WoRking out. What kind of WoRkouts do you do?

NJ: I do yoga and weights, mainly. I still box. I box once a week, but I dont get punched in the face anymore. I just hit the bags now. Im done with that competitive side of it.

Robert Piper: What inspires you in life?

Christopher Gorham: Family. I have a wife oflet me thinkeighteen years now. Is that right? I have three kids. I was blessed with very supportive parents and some close friends, and the people closest to me are my inspiration.

RP: How has raising children impacted your life?

CG: It changes everything. Its a complete clich to say that, but its really true. Before you have kids, you just have much less to worry about. It doesnt feel that way, but its true. Once you have kids, your focus has to change, I think, at least to raise kids right. You cant just focus on yourself; its too hard.

RP: How did you start acting?

CG: I was doing school plays and monologue competitions in elementary school and decided [around] fourth grade that I wanted to be an actor and then stayed really focused on it as I grew up. I went to a performing arts magnet school for my last three years of high school and then studied theater at UCLA and started working once I graduated from college.

RP: How do you overcome failure in general?

CG: In general, the only way to overcome it is to not let it destroy you. Its that old saying, Whatever doesnt kill you makes you stronger. You just have to keep going. Its true that the people that succeed in life are

Barbi Twins: As a model, you made the camera your livelihood. How has the camera helped you, as an animal activist and film producer of Give Me Shelter, with your animal rights cause?

Katie Cleary: I believe that the camera has aided animal welfare by giving a platform and a vision [for bringing] awareness to the most important animal-welfare issues worldwide. We are able to help animals all around the world as a result of the media and entertainment business, which is able to spread compassion and change at rapid speed.

BT: Your organization, Peace 4 Animals, focuses on everything from wildlife to shelter animals. What is the biggest misconception about animal rights, and what do you think we can do to help motivate others to be proactive?

KC: The biggest misconception is that sometimes activists have to be loud and are radical to get their message across. I think there is a classy way to go about changing peoples views about how they treat animals, and that is with compassion, strategic moves, and passing laws to protect animals, not throwing paint and flour on people. That only turns them away from your whole purpose of helping those without a voice.

Animals should have rights and should be treated with compassion and empathy; we are their caretakers. If you dont have it in your heart to help them, then just leave them alone and do no harm. To be proactive is to educate yourself and get the word out via social media, or through one of the many animal-welfare organizations around the world, and by signing petitions, starting your own campaigns, rescuing and fostering animals, organizing cleanups, recycling, volunteering at your local animal shelter, going to eco-tourist destinations or photo safaris. This will help get the word out to the masses, and hopefully, this will bring more awareness and more compassion to animal welfare.

BT: Who were your heroes growing up, and who do you admire in Hollywood that truly makes a difference?

KC: Jane Goodall is my idol and someone I have always looked up to for the amazing work she has done with chimpanzees. She has

transcended animal welfare as the voice for the voiceless and has changed many peoples views about how they think and treat not only chimps but all of the amazing animals we share this planet with.

BT: For young girls that want to become successful models like you, what message can you give them?

KC: To never give up your dreams and stay focused on your passions. Wake up every morning thankful for everything that God gave you, and make your passion your purpose in life.

BT: If you had the resources to make a difference in one area, what would it be?

KC: I would make a difference by banning unsustainable palm oil in order to save the rainforest and orangutan habitats along with the rest of the three hundred thousand other species that live in the rainforest.

Deforestation for palm-oil production also contributes significantly to climate change. The removal of the native forests often involves the burning of timber and remaining forest undergrowth, emitting immense quantities of smoke into the atmosphere.

The rainforest is being cut down at alarming rates, and orangutans are losing their habitats and are being killed, as a result, faster than we can save them, but there is a solution. In Borneo, small parcels of rainforest land can be a lifeline for orangutans so long as they link together protected forests, enabling animals to move safely over greater distances.

World Land Trusts Borneo Rainforest Appeal helps to save the rainforest through land protection and ensures the survival of the Bornean orangutan from extinction in the wild in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. With the funds raised to purchase rainforest land, WLT will be able to help create the Keruak Corridor, which will link Keruak Forest Reserve with one part of Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary.
