“Salam sejahtera” and welcome to the 9th Malaysian International ORL-HNS Congress, in conjunction with the 37th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Otorhinolaryngologists – Head & Neck Surgeons (MSO-HNS). This meeting will be held at Holiday Inn Hotel, Malacca, Malaysia, from 4th to 6th May 2017. The meeting is slightly earlier than previous years as to accommodate other scientific meetings in the same month, as well as to have it before the beginning of Holy month of Ramadhan at the end of May next year.
We are going to have the scientific meeting and AGM outside the busy city of Kuala Lumpur but still strategic to local and international delegates. We have lined up international speakers in addition to
renowned Asian and local speakers to share knowledge and experience with the members and delegates. The theme of the scientific meeting is “From Office to Operation Theatre”. Special issues and highlights on Paediatric Airway, Hearing, Otology, Sleep Disordered Breathing and many more, will be discussed by the otolaryngologists, paediatricians, as well as other relevant experts. Topics in Otolaryngology pertaining to adults will also be discussed especially common head and neck malignancy, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and management with oncologists will have some slots in the symposia. Nowadays, many laryngology procedures are office-based procedure, for example, injection laryngoplasty and this topic will be discussed by the experts in this field during the scientific session. There is a Paediatric Airway workshop that will be held at Univeristi Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, and Tracheostomy workshop at Malacca Hospital for medical officers and paramedics as pre-congress workshop to complement the conference.
Malacca is the capital of the state of Malacca, on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia. Visiting Malacca is a unique experience with a rich historical and cultural background from previous Portuguese, Dutch and British rule. The city centre was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in July 2008. Malacca is a rewarding town to explore and is about two hours from Kuala Lumpur.
I hope all of you can spend time to join this yearly and largest event of our MSO-HNS and at the same time, to meet our teachers and friends including those from abroad. This conference will provide an atmosphere for intellectual dialogue and learning for the benefit of our patients.
