The Flying Torpedo (1915)

The Old Santa Ana Courthouse provided the set for the 1915 silent film The Flying Torpedo, supervised by D.W. Griffith.

Bond of Blood (1916)

The streets of Los Alamitos resemble a typical western movie set and were used in the filming of the 1916 movie Bond of Blood.

Hell’s Angels (1930)

The 1930 Howard Hughes film Hell’s Angels used Fullerton Municipal Airport Base for the filming of several aerial sequences.

Captain Blood (1935)

Three Arch Bay in Laguna Beach was used in the filming of the 1935 Warner Bros. movie Captain Blood.

Give us the Night (1936)

Gladys Swarthout and Jan Kiepura starred in the 1936 Paramount Pictures film Give Us This Night, filmed against the cliffs of

Shell Cove in Three Arch Bay.

Topper (1937)

Scenes from the 1937 movie Topper starring Cary Grant were filmed at the Irvine Regional Park.

Fallen Angel (1945)

The 1945 film Fallen Angel starring Dana Andrews and Alice Fay was filmed at both Watson’s diner in Orange and at a

residential location at 409 N Shaffer.

A Star is Born (1954)

Scenes from the 1954 movie A Star is Born starring Judy Garland were filmed at Laguna Beach.

Conquest of Planet of the Apes (1972)

The University of California Irvine campus was used for several scenes of the 1972 movie Conquest of Planet of the Apes, including the large protest and

demonstration scenes and a scene where the apes storm the University Administration building to overthrow their human rulers.

Studs Lonigan (1978)

Scenes from the 1978 TV mini-series Studs Lonigan were filmed inside courtroom of the Santa Ana Courthouse.

Poltergeist (1982)

Steve Freeling goes to visit Marsh Lesh, the person who exorcises the spirits from the home in the 1982 movie Poterteist, he is actually walking up the

stairs of the University of California Irvine Main Library.

Monster in the Closet (1983)

The Orange Plaza was used during the filming of the 1982 movie Monster in the Closet.

Dreamscape (1984)

Dennis Quaid’s character is chased through a stable area at the Los Alamitos Race Track, which is actually just a few miles west of Disneyland at 4961 Katella Ave. in Cypress, in the 1984 sci-fi thriller Dreamscape.

Beaches (1988)

The Balboa Fun Zone was used in the filming of the 1988 movie Beaches starring Bette Midler.

Rain Man (1988)

Tom Cruise says goodbye to Dustin Hoffman at the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center located at 1000 E. Santa Ana Blvd. in the final scene of the 1988 movie the Rain Man.

Gleaming the Cube (1989)

Scenes from the 1989 movie Gleaming the Cube were filmed at Woodbridge High School in Irvine.

Ghost Writer (1989)

Scenes from the 1989 movie Ghost Writer were filmed at the old Movieland Wax Museum in Buena Park.

Kindergarten Cop (1990)

The beginning of the 1990 movie Kindergarten Cop, starring Arnold Schwarzenneger, was filmed at the Main Place Mall in Santa Ana.

Angels in the Outfield (1994)

The exterior shots Disney’s 1994 movie Angels in the Outfield were filmed at Angels Stadium, located at 2000 State College Blvd. in Anaheim.

D2: The Mighty Ducks (1994)

Scenes from the Walt Disney Pictures movie D2: The Mighty Ducks were filmed at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim located at 2695 E. Katella Ave, which has been renamed

and is now the Honda Center.

Time Cop (1994)

The Main Place Mall in Santa Ana was used as the setting in the 1994 sci-fi thriller, Time Cop, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, where he follows his wife up

an escalator while the two flirt as if they didn't know each other.

Crimson Tide (1995)

Scenes from the 1995 movie Crimson Tide starring Gene Hackman, Denzel Washington and Viggo Mortenson were filmed in front of

Chapman University’s Memorial Hall, located at 333 North Glassell Street in Orange.

That Thing You Do (1996)

The Wells Fargo Bank on East Chapman Ave. was transformed into the Erie Public Library in the 1996 Tom Hanks movie That Thing You Do.

Various buildings in the Orange Circle were transformed into Erie, Pennsylvania locations for That Thing You Do.

One of the main locations in the feature film That Thing You Do was a store on the 100 North Block of Glassell Street in Orange that was built and transformed

into Patterson’s Appliances.

Watson’s Drug Store was used as a location in the filming of Tom Hank’s 1996 feature film That Thing You Do.

Jerry Maguire (1996)

The airport scenes in the 1996 movie Jerry Maguire starring Tom Cruise and

Renée Zellweger were filmed at the Santa Ana John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

Snapple Commercial (1996)

A couple of shops on the 100 block of South Glassell Street in Orange were transformed into Republican Headquarters for the 1996 filming of a Snapple

Commercial.

The Cable Guy (1996)

Cable TV installer Jim Carey takes customer Matthew Broderick to dinner at the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament in Buena Park

in the 1996 comedy The Cable Guy.

Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion (1997)

In this scene of Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, guests walk into a hotel, which was actually shot at the Newport Beach Library,

located at 1000 Avocado Ave. in Newport Beach.

Oscar Meyer Weiner Commercial (1998)

The Oscar Meyer Weinermobile was present in the Orange Circle during the filming

of this 1998 commercial.

Small Soldiers (1998)

The 1998 movie Small Soldiers, starring Kirsten Dunst, Phil Hartman, Denis Leary,

Jay Mohr, Gregory Smith, and the voice of Tommy Lee Jones was filmed at various locations in Orange, including Sir Wicket and Radio Shack in the Orange Plaza.

Rocky and Bullwinkle (2000)

The above scene from Rocky and Bullwinkle was filmed at the old Santa Ana Courthouse located at 211 W. Santa Ana Blvd. in Santa

Ana.

Oceans Eleven (2001)

The scenes in Ocean Eleven where Danny Ocean and his team steal a "pinch" to create an electromagnetic pulse were filmed at the Gillespie

Neuroscience Research Facility on the UC Irvine campus.

Legally Blonde (2001)

The old Santa Ana Courthouse located at 211 W. Santa Ana Blvd. in Santa Ana was used for the courtroom scenes in the 2001 Legally Blonde movie starring

Reese Witherspoon.

The Fast and the Furious (2001)

In The Fast and the Furious, The Asian motorcycle gang scenes were shot in Little Saigon (named after the area’s large Vietnamese population) in

Westminster.

In The Fast and the Furious, the scenes set in a temple-like area with many white marble statues were filmed at the Vietnamese Cultural Court, located behind the 99 Ranch Market, at 9221 Bolsa Avenue, in Westminster - across the street from

the Asian Garden mall.

Pearl Harbor (2001)

The historic blimp hangers located in Tustin are among the largest wooden structures in the world and can be seen in a training scene

with Alec Baldwin in the 2001 movie Pearl Harbor.

The Man Who Wasn’t There (2000)

The Orange Circle was transformed to look like 1949 Pasadena, complete with automobiles and extras in appropriate 1940’s clothing, during the

filming of the 2000 movie The Man Who Wasn’t There.

Catch Me If You Can (2002)

The Old Santa Ana Courthouse was used for scenes of the 2002 movie Catch Me If You Can starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom

Hanks.

Clockstoppers (2002)

The 2002 Nickelodeon movie Clockstoppers was filmed at various locations

throughout the city of Orange including: The Orange Plaza, Hot Skates at 117 East Chapman Avenue, the 100-500 blocks of West Chapman Avenue and South Glassell

Street Alley.

S.W.A.T. (2003)

The scenes where 'Jim Street' (Colin Farrell) is exercising on the beach were filmed along the Huntington Beach-Sunset Beach coastal area, located

south of Long Beach and north of Newport Beach.

The OC (2003)

In season one of The OC, Oliver brings the gang to Palm Springs, but in reality, the golf course they go to is the Seacliff Country Club, located at 6501 Palm Ave in

Huntington Beach.

American Wedding (2003)

The Radio Shack located at 101 S. Glassell Street in the Orange Circle was transformed to resemble a flower shop in the 2003 movie

American Wedding.

Surviving Christmas (2003)

Man-made snow and people dressed for a mid-western winter were brought it during the filming of the 2003 movie Surviving Christmas

in the Orange Circle.

Ben Affleck and Christina Applegate starred in Surviving Christmas, which was filmed at various different locations

throughout the Orange Plaza and Circle.

Anger Management (2003)

The ESPN zone at Downtown Disney in Anaheim was used for filming a scene in the 2003 movie Anger Management starring Adam Sandler.

First Daughter (2004)

At the beginning of the movie, the First Family drives into the college town (what is supposed to be the University of Redmond), but this is

actually on W. Chapman Ave in Old Town Orange.

The Son Light Christian Center located at 172 N. Glassell Street was transformed into the Redmond University movie

theatre in the 2004 movie First Daughter.

Both interior and exterior scenes in 2004’s Cellular were filmed at the Anaheim Convention Center located at 800 W. Katella Avenue in Anaheim which was converted to

look like an airport for the movie.

Accepted (2006)

The above scenes from the 2006 movie Accepted were filmed in front of Memorial Hall at Chapman University in Orange.

Borat (2006)

The final scenes of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan in which Borat comes face to face with Pamela Anderson at a book signing were filmed at the Virgin Megastore at the Block of Orange.

Knocked Up (2007)

The 2007 movie Knocked Up opens with Ben and his friends at an amusement park and the above picture shows them on the Silver bullet at Knott’s Berry Farm, located

at 8039 Beach Blvd. in Buena Park.

The Hills (2007)

Lauren Conrad meets up with Jason Wahler at the Chapman Coffee Shop located on Glassell during episode 306 of The Hills.

The Apprentice (2007)

The contestants embark on a challenge at the Main Place Mall in Santa Ana during episode 6 of season 6 of The Apprentice.

The Real Housewives of Orange County (2007)

Most of the show is filmed in the city of Coto de Caza and elsewhere throughout Orange County and the housewives dine at

Beachfire in Ladera Ranch in the scene pictured above.
