EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Opportunities to Have Your Say Council is commied to engaging with residents on decisions that affect their lives, and there are several projects that are currently open for public feedback. Farewell to BCS On 24 December 2020, the doors of the Bannockburn Children’s Service (BCS) at Bannockburn Family Services Centre (BFSC), closed for the final me. This week, the new childcare provider, Kardinia Childcare Inc opened its service at the same locaon. Council acknowledges all the staff of BCS for their dedicated educaon and care of hundreds of local children and families over the years, parcularly during this challenging year with the COVID-19 pandemic. Following a significant review of the BCS long day care in 2019, Council undertook an Expression of Interest process for the lease of part of the BFSC for the purpose of providing long day care services in January 2020. At its meeng on 8 September2020, Council resolved to lease part of the centre to Kardinia Childcare Inc. Today, Kardinia Childcare Inc. opens its long day care service at BFSC and Council welcomes the new provider to Golden Plains. Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from commercial or retail operators interested in leasing the Bannockburn Shire Hall. The Shire Hall is located at 12 High Street, Bannockburn and is currently available for leasing. ERIC BRASLIS, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER LEASING BANNOCKBURN SHIRE HALL UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR A COMMERCIAL OR RETAIL SERVICE Council is seeking public feedback on its Draſt Community Engagement Policy as part of its commitment to improve how engagement is undertaken by Council. The Draſt Policy provides a clear and succinct process that improves Council’s exisng pracses to ensure deliberave engagement opportunies are well planned, inclusive, accessible and appropriate. Feedback closes 11 January 2021. The Teesdale Structure Plan and Planning Scheme Amendment C92 are on public exhibion unl 25 January 2021. The Teesdale Structure Plan is a strategic planning document that will guide the long-term growth of Teesdale into the future. Inial engagement was undertaken in late 2019, and this consultaon process is part of the final process to incorporate the plan into the Planning Scheme, following Council’s endorsement of the plan in April 2020. Residents are invited to vote for their favourite of four potenal new names for the park containing Inverleigh’s newest play space at 1 East Street. Following the rejecon of the community’s preferred name by the Victorian Geographic Names Registrar, vong is open on four compliant names: • Leigh River Park; • Inverleigh Community Park; • Inverleigh Play Park; and • Yerram Yaluk Bun (translaon: bank of the morning river). Vong closes at 5pm, 29 January 2021, and votes can be cast online, or by downloading a form from Council’s website or requesng a hard copy at a Customer Service Centre. Council’s Draſt Acve Ageing & Inclusion Plan 2020-2024 is out for public feedback unl 31 January 2021. The Draſt Plan provides the framework to address acve ageing, disability access and inclusion issues across all areas of Council’s operaons. There are several in-person consultaons this month: • Bannockburn: 18 January, 10.30am to 12pm, Bannockburn Cultural Centre, 27 High Street • Meredith: 18 January, 1.30 to 3pm, Meredith Community Centre, 4 Russell Street • Dereel: 20 January, 10.30am to 12pm, Dereel Community Centre, 14 Swamp Road • Smythesdale: 20 January, 1.30 to 3pm, The Well, 19 Heales Street Residents will also be able to Zoom into the Bannockburn consultaon from 11 to 11.40am, and the Smythesdale consultaon from 2 to 2.40pm. Farewell to BCSOn 24 December 2020, the doors of the Bannockburn Children’s Service (BCS) at Bannockburn Family Services Centre (BFSC), closed for the final time.This week, the new childcare provider, Kardinia Childcare Inc opened its service at the same location.
