Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this final news bulletin before I leave Oak Lodge.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all our amazing students and our hard working and caring staff for their
impressive resilience and determination to get through the past few challenging months. We have been delighted to
receive the many photos of activities and learning at home and hear all about the progress being made, in spite of the
very unusual times that we find ourselves in. All teams and PODS on site and those working at home have
shown incredible courage and strength. The compassion and understanding demonstrated really has been testament
to all individuals and they way in which they collaborate and work together as a team, putting the needs of others
before their own.
We could not have done this without your support and working in close partnership with us. Oak Lodge is a very spe-
cial community where students' needs are always at the centre of our focus each and every day. I am very proud of
the achievements made by students and staff over the past 3 years. There is a far reaching impact and it is always a
wonderful moment when students return to see us when they have moved on to
college or employment and come back to share their success and progress.
I have no doubt that Oak Lodge School will continue to be very successful in the fu-
ture and I will always have many fond memories of this part of my professional jour-
ney.
Wishing you all the very best of good health and happiness in all that you do in the
future.
Take good care and keep safe and well.
Sharon
Dear Parents and Carers,
Well things are certainly different this year but that hasn't stopped the success of all the pupils this year! Success results
from hard work, application and engagement. At Oak Lodge we have always sought to work with, and involve the fami-
lies of the children as by working together we can ensure that all pupils achieve the best progress then can throughout
their time with us. This support has never been more evident than over the past few months when kitchen tables have
become classrooms and parents have become teachers. On behalf of the governors I would like to thank you all for help
to ensure your children's education has been able to continue . I would also like to thank all the staff at Oak Lodge for all
they have been doing to ensure home learning resources are available and for keeping everyone in touch with each oth-
er.
Year 11’s your time at Oak Lodge is now complete and it is time for you to move on to the next phase of your education.
During the time you have spent with us you have all grown up to become the self confident teenagers you are now and
along the way you have learnt a lot—not just academically but personally too. Leave Oak Lodge with confidence that you
can succeed at whatever you set out to do and be whatever you want to be.
Keep safe and well and lets hope that when we re-start in September, where ever that is and in whatever form that
takes, we will be well on the way to getting things back to normal.
Mike Robinson– Chair of Governors
Farewell & thank you Notice
Board
Hi Everyone
Mark and I would like to say a very big thank you
to all the staff at Oak Lodge.
You are all a fantastic team of people and you have
given Sophie the confidence and will power to go
onto Sparsholt College.
We both feel that Sophie has grown and flourished
through her journey at Oak Lodge and that is down
to your hard work and dedication.
It's a shame that it didn't end in the usual way but
both Sophie and I are looking forward to seeing
her teachers and class mates on Thursday.
- Miss Clifford & Mr Leonard
Dear Mrs Burt, Thank you for being a fantastic Head teacher. We loved
you at this school and will still love you when you are at your new
school.
From Adam Year 7
“I was so proud to be made Head Boy at Oak Lodge and so happy
that Sophie was Head Girl at the same time. It has been a real
shame that we only had half a year in the role.
I am sure that like a lot of year 11, I want to say thank you to every-
one at Oak Lodge for all the memories over the last 5 years. We
each have our own but my highlights are singing excerpts of Les
Miserables with Mrs Lomax at registration, winning the special
schools cricket tournament and seeing so many students across all
year groups join in the pan-disability football at Fawley Falcons.
All these memories have one thing in common and that is the peo-
ple, both staff and students. Thank you to everyone in particular Mrs
Burt, Mrs Brown and Mr Hudson. And then there is Mrs Wright. I
cannot thank you enough Mrs Wright for all your help and support.
If I could give some advice to the students that I leave behind I
would say GO FOR IT!
Take all the opportunities you are given and ask for help if you need
it. Look around you, make friends and look after each other.
I’m off to College now and I can’t wait but I would love to keep in
touch and maybe when things are easier please invite me back for
a visit.
Take care Oak Lodge and thank you for everything. To all my
friends, good luck and farewell.”
- Gregory Year 11

Thank you for 5 incredible years at Oak Lodge!! The
staff are incredible. A huge thank you to Mrs Coello
for her dedication to the choir...Siân came into her
own whilst singing, she felt included, special and
was able to express her inner most “diva”!! She loved
performing and her smile whilst singing was infectious
Siân would like to say her special goodbye to the rest
of Acorns 4 who she will leave behind, but it SO excit-
ed to be re-joining her beloved Toby & Archie once
again xxx

We just wanted to say thank you for taking such good care of
Morgan during his time at Oak Lodge. We were worried about
him when he started in Year 7 but to see how devastated he
was when school stopped due to Covid is testament to how
much he loved the pupils and staff at Oak Lodge.
We will miss you all greatly.

Thank you to Mrs Merricks and Mrs D. for
teaching him for the last two years. Have a

Dear Oak 4, Hello lovely people, it seems such a long time since we were all together. I hope I still recognise you in
September! I bet you have all grown! We will have to compare your heights to last September, I wonder who will
have grown the most? I am very pleased to tell you that we have found somebody to take Mr Burton's place. He is a
very nice man and I am sure you will like him too. There is another nice surprise for you but I'll leave that one for
when I see you. We have missed so many birthdays, we will have to have one big celebration for all those we have

Owen has been busy
keeping active play-
ing tennis with his
family
Daniel and Noah have been making
yummy cupcakes at school!
Mrs Compton has
been wildlife
watching again. She
spotted this hedge-
hog in her front
garden.
Mrs Martin wanted share her beautiful frog
prince cushion she had made from her
latch hook piece she showed you before.
Masie has been studying Japan as part of the Topic work. She has been
looking at simple Japanese phrases and symbols and she loves the style
of them—Wow Maisie, very clever!
Iris has been busy writing another one of her amazing poems! This one is called The Magic Box’ based on the poet Kit Wright. She was inspired by the work she was doing whilst helping her young-
er brother at home! - Great work Iris.
My Magic Box by Iris Bowditch-Nicholson (based on the poem
by Kit Wright)
I will put in the box
A rainbow slothcorn dangling from the loud disco tree,
A pink blossom-covered fairy cottage at the bottom of a green
and yellow meadow,
A scorching phoenix burning big buildings from afar.
I will put in the box
A magical and colourful rainbow shining for many fortnights,
A growing gigantic, gorgeous and glowing tree glistening in the
sunset,
A banana and dark chocolate coloured buzzy bee flying away
from the family sitting near him.
I will put in the box,
The first and funny hug from my amazing, cute and soft Mum-
my,
A guffaw from a group of children at a funny birthday party,
A bunch of huge and big amounts of love from my brother Wilf.
I will put in the box,
A fifty-third week of the year and four hundred days in a year,
A mouse-sized cat eating cheese and getting chased by the
mouse and
A cat-sized mouse eating fish and getting chased by the cat.
My box is covered with pictures of my cuddly pets, Elsa and
Coffee
With treasure that looks like each member of my family includ-
ing me.
Its hinges are the toenails of my cool Daddy.
I will sing opera in my box.
I will sing as loud as possible so the whole world can hear
So everyone can sing with me to get through tough times.
Daniel has been enjoying
walks on the beach with
an ice-cream pit stop!
Daisy has been busy
with her home learn-
ing - Looks like
great fun!
