Solstice Celebration Poetic Gesture Earth and Air
December 14-15 2019
As the shortest day of the year the winter Solstice marks the turning from the cold dark days of winter to the
warmer lighter days of spring and summer Historically this season is a time of reflection renewal and
community celebration This yearrsquos winter theme is an integration of Poetry and Movement With each Solstice
celebration we envision honoring the interconnectedness of our humanity as we move forward to grow evolve
and change with the return of the sun
ZUZI Dance will be featuring choreography by ZUZI Cofounder Nanette Robinson Aja Squires and Maddie
Brown with special dance music and poetry collaborators Elizabeth Falcon Andrea Gudrune Dance Aloud
Dancesequences Inc and FUNHOUSE movement theater This show also highlights special performances by
ZUZI youth and community workshop dancers These workshops have been a long-standing tradition for ZUZI
to create a space and opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to work move learn and grow together
Participants have ranged in age from 7 to 72 This multi-generational approach to dance is rooted in ZUZIrsquos
belief that individual perspectives shared and shaped with others creates a healthy community

We-Robot Art Sphere Design Competition ndash We-Robot

The We-Robot is seeking design submissions from anyone in Pima County for our new technology to carve into
four-foot diameter steel spheres The top five submissions will be made into public art for display at local
