NOTICE

CKeep the power cord away from water and handleit only with dry hands. Do not use an extensioncord to connect the power cord to an outlet.

CThe shaver may not immediately begin tocharge after being placed into the power cordafter use. Allow the shaver to sit in the powercord for a few minutes and check again tomake sure that it is being charged.

CThe outer foil is very thin. If handledimproperly, it can be easily damaged. To avoidpersonal injury, do not use the shaver if it hasa damaged foil or inner blade.

Charging and cordless shaving(see fig. 2)When charging the shaver for the firsttime or when it has not been in usefor more than 6 months, charge it forthe activation for at least 8 hoursbefore use.Connect the power cord to theshaver, and plug the adaptor to anAC outlet.It will adjust automatically to the ACvoltages which are indicated on thecharging adaptor nameplate.In some areas, a special plug adap-tor may be required.The charge status lamp will glowwhen the shaver is being charged. Itwill flash when the charging is com-

pleted.You can fully charge the shaver in 1hour if it seems to be losing speed.A full charge will supply enoughpower for approx. 12 shaves (3 min-utes per shave for a normal beard).

Cord shavingConnect the shaver to the powercord and plug the adaptor to the ACoutlet, then turn the shaver on.If the shaver does not run, charge itfor approx. 1 minute.

Using your shaverDepress the switch lock button andslide the On/Off switch upward to turnthe shaver on. Hold the shaver at aright angle (90°) to your skin (see fig.3). Start out shaving by applying gen-tle pressure to your face. Stretch yourskin with your free hand and move theshaver back and forth in the directionof your beard. You may gentlyincrease the amount of pressure asyour skin becomes accustomed to thisshaver. Applying excessive pressuredoes not provide a closer shave, ormay cause injury of your skin, espe-cially to the earlier user.

Cleaning your shaver(see fig. 5)

The following is the symbol of Washableshaver. The symbol means that thehand-held part may be cleaned underwater.

For cleanliness and convenience, werecommend that you clean yourshaver with water and a liquid handsoap. Regular cleaning will keep yourshaver in good condition while pre-venting odors or bacteria from devel-oping, and maintain the cuttingperformance.With the outer foil in place, applysome hand soap onto the outer foil.Turn the shaver on and pour somewater over the outer foil.After about 10-20 seconds, turn theshaver off.Remove the foil frame and clean it

with running water.Wipe off any moisture from theshaver with a dry cloth and removethe protective cap to allow the outerfoil to dry completely.

Brush cleaningSqueeze the outer foil release but-tons and lift the outer foil upward toremove it. Remove the inner bladesone at a time by grasping it firmly atboth ends and pulling it straight awayfrom the shaver (see fig. 7). Cleanthe outer foils, the shaver body andthe trimmer with the long brush (seefig. 8). Clean the inner blades withthe short brush by moving it in thedirection in fig. 9(A). Do not use theshort brush to clean the outer foils.

Replacing shaving head componentsIt is recommended that you replacethe outer foil at least once a year andthe inner blades at least once every 2years to maintain your shaver’s cut-ting performance.Replacing the outer foil(see fig. 6)Squeeze the outer foil release buttonsand lift the outer foil upward toremove it. To insert the new outer foil,press down until it snaps into place.Replacing the inner blades(see fig. 7)Squeeze the foil frame release but-tons and lift the foil frame upward toremove it. Remove the inner blades,one at a time, by grasping them firmlyat both ends and pulling straight

away from the shaver. To insert thenew inner blade, hold the blade, oneat a time, at both ends and pressdownward until it snaps into theshaver.

For environmental protec-tion and recycling of mate-rialsThis shaver contains Nickel-MetalHydride battery.Please make sure that the battery isdisposed of at an officially assignedlocation, if there is one in your coun-try.How to remove the built-inrechargeable battery before dis-posal of the shaver(see fig.10)The battery in this shaver is notintended to be replaced by consum-ers. However, the battery may bereplaced at an authorized servicecenter. The procedure describedbelow is intended only for removal ofthe rechargeable battery for the pur-pose of proper disposal.1. Disconnect the adaptor from the

AC outlet, and remove the powercord from the shaver.

2. Remove the outer foil frame andthe inner blades.

3. Remove the trimmer driving bar(a), and two screws (b).

4. Remove the screw (c) and thebottom cover (d).

5. Remove the two screw covers (e)(using something like a toothpick),two screws (f), and the panel cov-ers (g).

6. Remove the four screws (h), andthe back panel (i).

7. Remove the battery from the bat-tery block (j).

Caution• Do not charge the shaver where the

temperature is below 0°C (32°F) orabove 40°C (104°F), where it willbe exposed to direct sunlight or aheat source, or where there is a lotof moisture.

• Use only the included adaptor RE7-22to charge the ES4036 shaver.

• Dry the shaver completely beforecharging it.

• Keep the adaptor away from waterand handle it only with dry hands.

• Grip the adaptor when disconnect-ing it from an AC outlet; tugging onthe power cord may damage it.

• Store the adaptor in a dry areawhere it will be protected from dam-age.

• Do not pull, twist, or severely bendthe power cord.

• Do not wrap the power cord tightlyaround the appliance.

• The outer foil is very thin. If handledimproperly, it can be easily dam-aged. To avoid personal injury, donot use the shaver if it has a dam-aged foil or inner blade.

• Place protective cap over shaverhead after use.

• Wash the shaver in tap water. Donot use salt water or boiling water.Also, do not use cleaning productsthat are designed for toilets, bath-rooms or kitchen appliances. Donot submerge the shaver for a long
