This appliance complies with current safety requirements. Im-proper use of the appliance can cause personal injury and materialdamage. Read this safety information carefully before operatingthe appliance.They contain important information on the safe installation, opera-tion, and care of your coffee system. To avoid the risk of personalinjury or damage to the coffee system, it is important that youcarefully read the instructions. Miele cannot be held liable for dam-age caused by non-compliance with these IMPORTANT SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS.

Keep these instructions in a safe place and pass them on to anyfuture user.

Intended use

Use this coffee system only in standard household environmentsfor making coffee beverages such as espresso, cappuccino, lattemacchiato, etc. Any other type of use is not permitted.

The coffee system is not suitable for outdoor use.

The machine is intended only for the preparation of coffee-baseddrinks such as espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato etc. Any otherusage is not supported.

Persons which lack physical, sensory or mental abilities or experi-ence with the machine should not use it without supervision or in-struction by a responsible person.

Safety with children

Caution! Danger of burning and scalding on the dispensingdispensers.Children's skin is far more sensitive to high temperatures than thatof adults.

Ensure children do not touch hot surfaces of the coffee system orplace parts of their body under the dispensing dispensers.

Keep the coffee system out of reach of children.

Keep children away from the appliance, the power cord and out-let.

Children should be supervised when they are near the coffee sys-tem. Do not allow them to play with it or to use the controls.

Remember that coffee and espresso are not suitable drinks forchildren.

Danger of suffocation!Keep children away from any packing material.

Technical safety

Before installing the coffee system, check for externally visibledamage. If the coffee system is damaged, it may pose a safety haz-ard and must not be used under any circumstances.

Before connecting the coffee system, check the voltage and fre-quency indicated on the data plate against the voltage and fre-quency of the household electrical supply.This data must correspond in order to prevent damage to the coffeesystem. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.

Be certain your appliance is properly installed and grounded by aqualified technician. To guarantee the electrical safety of this appli-ance, continuity must exist between the appliance and an effectivegrounding system. It is imperative that this basic safety requirementbe met. If there is any doubt, have the electrical system of the housechecked by a qualified electrician.

Reliable and safe operation of the coffee system can only be guar-anteed if it is connected to the electrical supply.

Do not connect the machine to the electrical supply using an ex-tension cord or power bar.

The coffee system may not be used in mobile installations such asships.

Unplug the appliance from the power supply immediately if younotice any damage or smell.

Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or af-ter the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner.Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for exami-nation, repair or adjustment.

Ensure that the power cord will not be pinched or damaged byany sharp edges.

The power cord should not hang down. Someone could trip overit with the risk of injury and the appliance could be damaged.

Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hotsurfaces.

Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heatedoven.

Only use the coffee system in rooms where the ambient tempera-ture is between +50°F (10°C) and +100°F (38°C).

Danger of overheating! Ensure that there is sufficient ventilationaround the coffee system. Do not cover it with tea towels etc. while itis in use.

If the coffee system is installed behind a cabinet door, it may onlybe used with the door open. This will prevent the formation of heatand humidity and subsequent damage to the appliance and/or hous-ing unit. Do not close the cabinet door while the coffee system is inuse. Ensure the coffee system has cooled down completely beforeclosing the door.

Protect the coffee system from water and water spray. Do not im-merse the appliance in water.

Repairs and other work by unqualified persons to the applianceand the power cord could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannotbe held liable for unauthorized work. Repairs may only be carried outby a Miele-authorized service technician.

Repairs must only be performed by a trained technician in accor-dance with national and local safety regulations. Repairs and otherwork by unauthorized persons could be dangerous and may void thewarranty.

Defective components should be replaced by Miele original partsonly. Only with original Miele parts can the manufacturer guaranteethe safety of the appliance.

For repairs, the coffee system must be disconnected from theelectrical power supply.The coffee system is only disconnected from the power supply if

– The power cord has been unplugged.Unplug the cord by pulling on the plug, not on the cord.

– The fuses to the household power supply are turned off.

– Any screw-in fuses in the household supply are fully unscrewed.

Never open the outer casing of the machine. Tampering with elec-trical connections or components and mechanical parts is highlydangerous to the user and can cause operational faults or electricshock.

To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do notimmerse cord, plugs, or coffee machine in water or other liquid.

To disconnect, turn main switch to "0", then remove plug fromwall outlet.

Use only genuine original Miele parts. If parts or accessories fromother manufacturers are used, the warranty may become void.The use of accessory attachements not recommended by Miele mayresult in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.

Proper use

Danger of burning and scalding from the dispensers.The liquids and steam dispensed are very hot.

Please note:

– Keep away from the area underneath the dispensers when hot liq-uids and steam are being dispensed.

– Do not touch hot components.

– Hot liquid or steam could spatter from the dispensers. Ensure thatthe main dispenser is clean and fitted correctly.

– Water in the drip tray can also be very hot. Take care when emp-tying it.

CM 6350: Danger of injury to the eyes!

Never look directly at the lighting or use optical instruments (e.g.magnifying glass) to look at it.

Please note the following regarding water:

– Fill the water tank only with fresh, cold tap water. Hot or warmwater or other liquids could damage the coffee system.

– Change the water every day to prevent a build-up of bacteria.

– Do not use mineral water. Mineral water will cause lime scale de-posits to build up in your machine and damage it.

– Do not use water from a reverse osmosis unit in this machine.This would damage it.

Only fill the bean container with roasted espresso or coffee beans.Do not fill the bean container with coffee beans that have beentreated with additives or with ground coffee.

Do not pour liquids into the bean container.

Do not use green (unroasted) coffee beans or mixtures of coffeebeans which contain green coffee beans. Green coffee beans arevery hard and still contain a certain amount of residual moisture.These can damage the coffee system grinder as soon as grindingbegins.

Do not use oily beans or beans that have been treated withcaramel, sugar, or other substances. Sugar and oil will damage thecoffee system.

Only add ground coffee or cleaning tablets to the ground coffeechute.

Do not use any caramelized ground coffee. The sugar in the cof-fee will stick to and block the brew unit of the coffee system. Thecleaning tablets for degreasing the brew unit will not remove thistype of deposit.

Only use plain milk. Most sugary additives can clog the milk lines.and damage the machine.

If using dairy milk make sure that it has been pasteurized.

Do not place any alcohol mixtures which are alight underneath themain dispenser. The flames could ignite plastic components andcause them to melt.

Do not place any open flame, e.g. a candle, on or near the coffeesystem. The coffee system could catch fire.

Do not use the coffee system to clean objects.

Cleaning and care

The coffee system must be disconnected from the electrical sup-ply before cleaning or maintenance.

Clean the coffee machine and the milk flask (supplied as standard,depending on model) daily, particularly before using for the first time(see "Cleaning and care").

All parts of the milk system need to be cleaned thoroughly andregularly.

Do not use a steam cleaner to clean this machine. Steam couldreach electrical components and cause a short circuit.

Descale the coffee system regularly depending on the water hard-ness level in your area. Descale the machine more frequently in areaswith very hard water. Miele cannot be held liable for damage arisingfrom insufficient descaling, the use of incorrect descaling agent orthe use of descaling agent that is not of the appropriate concentra-tion.

Degrease the brew unit regularly with Miele cleaning tablets. De-pending on the natural oil content of the coffee used, the brew unitcan become blocked quite quickly.

Rinsing coffee grounds down the drain can cause the sink to clog.Instead, dispose of your coffee grounds appropriately as biodegrad-able waste (where facilities exist) or by composting.

For machines with stainless steel surfaces:

Do not use sticky notes, transparent adhesive tape, masking tapeor other types of adhesive on stainless steel surfaces. These dam-age the surface, causing it to lose its dirt repellent protective coating.

The finish on stainless steel surfaces is susceptible to scratching.Even magnets can cause scratching.

Before using for the first time

Before using for the first time Remove any protective coverings and

notices from the machine.

Insert the drip tray into the lowerpanel.

Place the coffee machine on a flatsurface that is not sensitive to water(see "Installation").

Clean the appliance thoroughly be-fore filling it with water and coffeebeans (see "Cleaning and care").

Plug in the coffee machine (see"Electrical connection").

Remove the water container and fill itup to the "max." mark with fresh coldwater. Replace the water container(see "Filling the water container").

Remove the bean container lid, fill itwith roasted coffee beans and re-place the lid (see "Filling the beancontainer").

Turning on for the first timeWhen the coffee machine is turned onfor the first time, after the welcomescreen has appeared you will be askedto set the following settings:

– Language and country

– Time of day

Tap the On / Off button .

Miele - Willkommen appears briefly on thedisplay.

Selecting a language

Use the arrow keys to highlightthe desired language. Then tap OK.

Use the arrow keys to highlightthe desired country. Then tap OK.

The setting is now saved.

Setting the time of day

Use the arrow keys until the timeof day appears. Then tap OK.


The coffee machine is now successfullyset up for use. The coffee machine willheat up and rinse the pipework. Rinsewater flows out of the main dispenser.

Rinse the milk pipework (see "Rinsingthe milk pipework") before making adrink with milk for the first time.

Please note that the coffee aroma andthe characteristic crema only developsafter the first few coffees have beenmade.

Turn the appliance off with the On /Off button. Do not unplug thepower cord to switch off the coffeemachine. If you unplug the coffeemachine while using it for the firsttime, you will have to set it up for useagain.

A larger quantity of coffee beans isground for the first coffee drinks andpowder from the coffee grounds mayadhere to the cover of the drip tray.

Water hardnessThe water hardness level indicates howmuch calcium is dissolved in the water.The higher the calcium content, theharder the water, and the harder thewater, the more often the coffee ma-chine will need to be descaled.

The coffee machine measures theamount of water used and steam made.Depending on the level of water hard-ness set, more or fewer drinks can bedispensed before the appliance needsto be descaled.

Program the coffee machine to the wa-ter hardness level of your area so that itfunctions correctly and does not getdamaged. At the correct time a promptwill then appear in the display todescale the appliance.

Your local water authority will be able totell you the hardness of water in yourarea.

The water hardness level is set to 3 atthe factory.

You can program four hardness levelson the machine:

CM 6350: An audible signal is gener-ated each time a button is touched.You can adjust the volume of the sig-nal tones or switch the tones off (see"Settings – Volume").

Filling the water tank

Change the water every day toprevent a build-up of bacteria.

Only use cold, fresh tap water to fillthe water tank.Hot or warm water or other liquidscan damage the coffee system.

Do not use mineral water. Mineralwater will cause serious limescaledeposits to build up in your machineand damage it.

Press the lid on the right-hand side.

Pull the water reservoir up by the lidto remove it.

Fill the water reservoir with fresh, coldtap water up to the "max." marker.

Replace the water reservoir.

If the water reservoir is a little high orat a slant, check whether the surfacethat the water reservoir sits on isdirty. If the water reservoir is not sit-ting correctly, the drain valve will notbe sealed.Clean the surface if necessary.

Filling the coffee bean container

Fill the coffee bean container withroasted coffee or espresso beans if youwant to use freshly ground coffee beansfor each cup of espresso or coffee.

Alternatively, you can make coffee orespresso with ground coffee (see "Mak-ing coffee drinks from ground coffee").

Important! Risk of damage to thegrinder.Only put roasted coffee or espressobeans in the container. Anythingelse, including ground coffee, willdamage the grinder.Do not pour liquids in the bean con-tainer.

Important! Sugar damages the coffeesystem.Do not use coffee beans that havebeen treated with sugar, caramel, orother substances containing sugar inthe coffee bean container.Do not use green (unroasted) coffeebeans or mixtures of coffee beanswhich contain green coffee beans.Green coffee beans are very hardand still contain a certain amount ofresidual moisture. These can dam-age the coffee system grinder assoon as grinding begins.

Tip: You can use a nut or seed grinderto grind green coffee beans. Thesetypes of grinder generally have a rotat-ing stainless steel blade. You can thenadd the ground green coffee portion byportion to the ground coffee chute andmake the desired coffee drink (see"Making coffee drinks from ground cof-fee").

Take the lid off the coffee bean con-tainer.

Fill the container with roasted coffeebeans.

Replace the lid.

Tip: Only add enough beans to last fora few days as contact with air causescoffee beans to lose their aroma.

Turning the machine On and Off

Turning the appliance on Tap the On / Off button .

The appliance heats up and rinses thelines. Hot water will run out of the maindispenser.

When Select drink appears on the dis-play, you can make drinks.

If the operating temperature exceeds140°F (60°C) when you switch the ma-chine on, the rinsing process will nottake place.

If no buttons are touched or mainte-nance programs carried out, the displaywill turn off after approx. 7 minutes tosave energy.The LED on the right flashes as long asthe machine is switched on.

Tap any one of the buttons to wakethe appliance up again to make adrink.

Turning the appliance off Tap the On / Off button .

After a coffee drink has been dis-pensed, the pipework will be rinsed be-fore the appliance turns off.

If you have made a drink using milk,Place milk pipe in drip tray will appear inthe display.

Insert the end of the milk pipe into theaperture in the drip tray, and then tapOK.

If the milk system is not rinsed out be-fore turning off, it will have to berinsed the next time the appliance isturned on.

Turning off for longer periodsof timeIf the coffee machine is not going to beused for a longer period of time, e.g. ifyou are going on vacation:

Empty the drip tray, the waste unitand the water reservoir.

Clean all parts thoroughly, includingthe brew unit.

Switch off the machine and unplugthe power cord to disconnect it.

The time of day will not be saved. Itwill have to be reset next time the ap-pliance is turned on.

Cup heating

Cups should always be pre-heated toallow the flavor of the coffee to developand be retained.The smaller the volume of the coffee/espresso and the thicker the cup, themore important it is to pre-heat the cup.

You can pre-heat cups or glasses onthe cup heating surface on the top ofthe coffee machine.

The cup heating function must first beswitched on.

The cup heating surface will be heatedcontinually until the coffee system isturned off.

To turn cup heating on or off

Tap .

Select Cup heating and tap OK.

Select the required option and tapOK.


Pre-heating cups

Arrange the cups or glasses on thecup heating surface on the top of thecoffee system.

Adjusting the coffee dispensers to the cup height

You can adjust the main dispenser tosuit the height of the cup you are usingso that the coffee or espresso will notcool down as quickly and the crema willhave a better consistency.

Pull the main dispenser down until itis at the same level as the rim of thecup.Alternatively, push the main dis-penser up until there is enough roomto fit a larger cup or mug underneath.

Preparing beverages

You can choose from a variety of spe-cialty coffees:

– Ristretto is a concentrated, strongespresso. The same quantity of cof-fee powder as for an espresso is pre-pared with very little water.

– Espresso is a strong, aromaticcoffee with a thick hazelnut-browncream layer – the crema – on top. Use espresso-roasted coffee beansfor preparing espresso.

– Coffee differs from espresso bythe increased amount of water andthe roast of the beans.Use coffee beans of the correct roastto make coffee.

– Lungo coffee is a coffee with sig-nificantly more water.

Danger of burning and scaldingfrom the dispensers.The liquids and steam dispensed arevery hot.Keep away from the area underneaththe dispensers when hot liquids andsteam are being dispensed.Do not touch hot components.

Making a coffee drink

Place a cup under the main dis-penser.

Select a drink.

– Espresso

– Coffee

– in Additional programs :Ristretto, Long Coffee

Dispensing will start.

To ensure that any residues from thefactory testing process are removedfrom the brewing system, please dis-card the first two cups of coffeewhen using the appliance for the firsttime.

Preparing beverages

Canceling preparationTo cancel preparation:

Tap the drinks button or for drinksfrom Additional programs again.

Drink preparation will be canceled.

Tip: You can cancel making a drink bytapping OK as soon as Stop appears inthe display.

When making coffee with milk or twoportions of a drink you can canceleach stage individually.

Tap OK.


Double portionYou can dispense two portions into onecup or dispense two portions into twocups at the same time.

The coffee system will automaticallyrecognize that ground coffee has beenplaced in the chute.

Only one portion of coffee or espressocan be prepared at a time when usingground coffee.

Add a maximum of two level spoonsof coffee to the ground coffee chute.If too much is added, the brew unitwill not be able to process the cof-fee.

Adding ground coffee

The coffee system will use all theground coffee that has been added tothe chute to make the next coffee.

Use the scoop supplied with the appli-ance to ensure that the correct amountof ground coffee is used.

Caution! Danger of burning andscalding from the main dispenser.Liquids and steam dispensed will bevery hot.

Only use plain milk. Most sugary ad-ditives can clog the milk lines. anddamage the appliance.

As soon as you select a drink contain-ing milk the appliance will start to heatup. The milk will be drawn up into thecentral spout where it is heated bysteam and also frothed for drinks re-quiring milk froth.

If you have not made any milk drinksfor a while, rinse the milk systemthoroughly before making the firstdrink to ensure any bacteria isflushed out.

The following drinks with milk can bemade:

– Cappuccino consists of approx.2/3 milk froth and 1/3 espresso.

– Latte macchiato consists of 1/3each of hot milk, milk froth andespresso.

– Caffè latte consists of hot milkand espresso.

Hot milk and milk froth can also bemade.

Tip: Using cold milk (< 50°F/10°C) willproduce the perfect milk froth.You can select milk with a fat contentaccording to preference. With wholemilk (at least 3.5% fat), the milk frothwill be slightly creamier.

Milk flask(Supplied with CM 6350)

The stainless steel flask keeps milk coolfor longer. Good milk froth can be madewith cold milk (< 50°F/10°C).

Connect the stainless steel suctiontube to the inside of the lid. Makesure that the slanted end is pointingdownwards as shown.

Fill the milk flask up to max. 3/4" (2cm) below the rim with milk. Seal themilk flask with the lid.

Connect the milk tube to the top ofthe lid. Make sure that the connectingpiece clicks into position.

Place the milk flask on the right-handside of the coffee system. Connectthe other end of the milk tube to themain dispenser.

Using milk cartons or bottles

The milk tube for cartons and othersuitable containers is located behindthe appliance front.

Connect the milk pipe to the aperturein the main dispenser.

Place a container with sufficient milkbeside the coffee machine.

Place the end of the milk tube in thecontainer making sure that it is suffi-ciently immersed in the milk.

When the beans are ground correctly,the coffee or espresso will flow evenlyinto the cup with a good crema.The crema should have an even nut-brown colour.

The grinder setting you select will beused for all coffee drinks.

There are various ways to tell whetherthe coffee grinder is set correctly.

The coffee is ground too coarse, if

– espresso or coffee flows into the cuptoo quickly.

– the crema is very pale and uneven.

Set a finer grinder setting.

The coffee is ground too fine, if

– espresso or coffee flows into the cupvery slowly.

– the crema is dark brown.

Set a coarser grinder setting.

To avoid damaging the grinder,please note the following:Only adjust the grinder one setting ata time.Grind the coffee beans again if youwant to adjust the grinder to the nextsetting.

Open the appliance door.

Push the slide control one setting tothe left (for finer grinding) or one set-ting to the right (for coarser grinding).

Close the appliance door.

Opening the appliance resets the in-ternal counter for emptying the driptray and the grounds container.

Empty the drip tray and grounds con-tainer.

Prepare a coffee drink.

After that, you can adjust the grindersetting again.

The altered grinder setting will not beused until after the second coffee hasbeen dispensed.

Amount of coffee, brew temperature and pre-brewing

You can adjust the amount of coffee,the brew temperature and pre-brewingindividually for each coffee drink. To dothis, first select the drink from the Pa-rameters menu and then adjust thedrink parameters.

Amount of coffeeThe coffee system can grind and brew6-14 g of coffee beans per cup. Thegreater the quantity, the stronger thecoffee.

There are various ways to tell whetherthe amount of coffee is set correctly.

The amount of coffee is too low, if

– espresso or coffee flows into the cuptoo quickly.

– the crema is very pale and uneven.

– the espresso or coffee lacks body.

Increase the amount of coffee so thatmore ground coffee is brewed.

The amount of coffee is too high, if

– espresso or coffee flows into the cupvery slowly.

– the crema is dark brown.

– the espresso or coffee tastes bitter.

Decrease the amount of coffee so thatless ground coffee is brewed.

Tip: If the coffee is too strong for you orit tastes bitter, try a different type ofbean.

Brewing temperatureThe ideal brewing temperature will de-pend on:

– the type of coffee,

– whether an espresso or a coffee isbeing prepared, and

– the altitude of the region.

If the coffee system is located at morethan 6562 ft. (2000 meters) above sealevel, the brewing temperature needs tobe set lower due to the change in pres-sure. This is because the boiling pointfor water at a high altitude above sealevel is lower than the boiling point forwater at sea level.

Tip: Not all types of coffee can with-stand high temperatures. Certain typesare too delicate - the crema on topwould not be as good and the tastewould be impaired.

Amount of coffee, brew temperature and pre-brewing

Pre-brewing ground coffeeWhen the pre-brewing function isturned on, the freshly ground coffee isfirst moistened with a little hot water.Then the remaining water is forcedthrough the moistened coffee at highpressure. This helps release the flavorof the coffee.

You can set pre-brewing for a normallength of time or an extra long length oftime. Alternatively, you can turn off the"Pre-brewing" function. The machine is supplied with the "Pre-brewing" function turned off.

Portion size

The flavor of the coffee produced de-pends not just on the type of coffeeused, but also on the amount of waterused. You can program the amount of waterto suit the size of your cups and thetype of coffee you are using.

For coffee drinks that use milk you canalso set the amount of milk or milk frothto be dispensed with these drinks. Ad-ditionally, you can set the portion sizesfor hot milk and milk froth alone.

Each type of drink has a maximum por-tion size that can be programmed intothe appliance. The coffee machine haltspreparation of the coffee once this por-tion size has been reached. The maxi-mum possible portion size for this typeof drink is then saved in the appliance.

If the water container becomes emptywhile making a drink, the appliancewill stop programming the portionsize. The portion size will not besaved.

There are two ways of initiating the pro-gramming of the portion size:

– By tapping the drink button when youare preparing a coffee; or

– by selecting Portion size in the Param-eters menu.

The changed portion size is alwayssaved in the current User profile. Thename of the current profile appears inthe top left-hand side of the display.

Canceling quantity programming

Touch the drinks sensor again or the sensor for drinks from Additionalprograms again.

Changing the portion size dur-ing drink preparationYou can adapt the portion size forespresso , coffee , cappuccino ,and latte macchiato directly duringpreparation and save it.


Tap the sensor button for the desireddrink until Change appears in the dis-play.

The desired drink is prepared and Saveappears in the display.

When the cup is filled to the desiredlevel, tap OK.

If you want to change the the drinkamount for coffee specialties with milk,the ingredients are the drink are savedone after the other during preparation.

When the quantity for each ingredientreaches the desired level, tap OK.

The programmed mix of ingredients andportion sizes will now be dispensed ev-ery time that particular drink is selected.

Changing the portion size inthe Parameters menu

You can adapt the portion sizes forlungo coffee, caffè latte, hot milk,and milk froth using using the "Pa-rameters" menu.

Place a suitable container under themain dispenser.

From this point onwards the procedureis identical to programming the portionsize during drink preparation.

Changing the portion size fordifferent user profilesYou can set the portion size for individ-ual drinks for each user profile.

If the coffee system is used by severalpeople with different coffee prefer-ences, you can create individual userprofiles in addition to the Miele profile.

In each user profile, you can make set-tings for individual drinks (portion size,amount of ground coffee, brewing tem-perature and pre-brewing).


Accessing a user profile Tap .

You can now create a user profile.

If you have allocated a profile in addi-tion to the Miele standard user profile,you have the following options:

– Select profile from the user profilesthat have already been allocated.

– Change name if the name of a userprofile needs to be changed.

– Delete profile if you want to delete auser profile.

– Change profile to set whether thecoffee system automatically alwaysreverts to the Miele standard userprofile or retains the last selecteduser profile.

Tip: Tap or "Profile" to return tothe main menu.

Creating a user profile Use the arrow buttons to select

Create profile and tap OK.

Letters will appear in the display thatyou can select with the arrow buttons.You can use the arrow buttons to selectfrom numbers, upper case and lowercase letters.

Tap arrow buttons to select thecharacter and then tap OK.

The character will then appear in theline above.

Repeat the process until the desiredname appears in the display lineabove.

Tip: You can delete the last characterentered by tapping .

When you have finished entering aname and want to save it,

use the arrow keys to highlightthe check and tap OK.

If you do not want to save what youhave entered,

tap and hold until all charactershave been deleted and the coffeesystem jumps back to the previousmenu.

The last created profile is selected asthe current profile.

This selection is only possible if a pro-file has been allocated in addition tothe Miele standard user profile.

Changing the name

Proceed the same as with "Createprofile":

– Select to delete a character.

If none of the keys have been pressedor no drink has been prepared, the cof-fee system will turn itself off after 30minutes to save energy.

You can change this pre-setting usingthe arrow buttons to a time be-tween 15 minutes and 9 hours.

Activating and deactivating the timer

When the system lock is activated, theTurn on at option for the timer cannotbe selected.

Select the timer function you want touse.

The selected option will have a nextto it.

Tap the arrow button repeatedlyuntil Accept is highlighted. Then tapOK.

Eco modeEco mode is an energy-saving mode.

If Eco mode is switched on, the coffeemachine will heat up anew every time adrink is made, so that making a drinktakes longer.

If Eco mode is turned off, significantlymore energy is used. The coffee ma-chine heats up for the first drink prepa-ration after being switched on. Afterthat the appliance remains heated upand drinks can be prepared withouthaving to wait very long.

The coffee machine will indicate thatthe energy consumption has been al-tered.

Lighting(CM 6350)

Change the brightness using the arrowbuttons .

If no keys are touched or maintenanceprograms carried out, the lighting willturn off after approximately 7 minutesto save energy.

Drip tray and grounds con-tainer

Clean the drip tray and grounds con-tainer every day every day to avoidunpleasant smells and mildew.

The grounds container is located in thedrip tray. Water from rinsing also col-lects in the grounds container.

A prompt will appear in the coffee sys-tem display when the drip tray and/orthe grounds container is full and needsto be emptied. Empty the drip tray andthe grounds container.

Danger of burns.If the rinsing process has just fin-ished, wait a while before removingthe drip tray as the water used forrinsing will run out of the coffeespouts.

Push the main dispenser up as far asit will go.

Then pull the drip tray carefully out ofthe appliance. Take the lid off.

Empty the drip tray and grounds con-tainer.

Remove the drip tray cover andthe lower panel .

Clean all parts thoroughly.

Clean the inside of the appliance un-derneath the drip tray.

Drip tray cover Remove the drip tray cover.

The drip tray cover can be cleaned inthe dishwasher or by hand usingwarm water and dishwashing liquid.

Dry the drip tray cover thoroughly.

Refit the drip tray cover making surethat it is correctly fitted (see illustra-tion).

Water container

Clean the water reservoir lid by handonly using warm water and dish-washing liquid.

Press the lid on the right-hand side.

Pull the water reservoir up by the lidto remove it.

Take the lid off the container andwash it by hand.

The water reservoir can be cleaned inthe dishwasher, or by hand usingwarm water and dishwashing liquid.After cleaning, dry the water reservoir.

Carefully clean the surface the waterreservoir sits on, particularly the slots.

Fit the lid back on the container.

Make sure that the valve, the under-side of the water reservoir and the sur-face the water reservoir sits on areclean. Otherwise the water reservoirwill not sit correctly.

Stainless steel water intakevalve filterThe stainless steel water intake valve fil-ter is located in the recess for the watercontainer.

Particles in the water can collect on thefine mesh in the filter. Therefore thestainless steel filter should be checkedmonthly for soiling.

Remove the water container.

Clean the stainless steel filter withwater only without detergent in orderto avoid possible unpleasant flavors.

Check the stainless steel filter forsoiling and clean it if necessary, e.g.with a damp cotton swab.

Replace the water container.

Main dispenser with cappucci-natore

Clean the main dispenser cover byhand only using warm water anddishwashing liquid.

All other components are dishwashersafe.

Push the main dispenser right downand remove the stainless steel coverby pulling it off towards you.

Pull the dispensing unit off towardsyou.

Twist the upper section with theholder for the milk pipework and pullit off. Then pull the Y-shaped piece off. Remove the dispensing spouts.

Clean all parts thoroughly.

Clean the surfaces of the main dis-penser with a damp cloth.

If the milk pipe is blocked, clean it un-der running water with the brush sup-plied:

Insert the brush in the tube and moveit back and forth as far as it will gountil all milk residue has been re-moved.

Fit the dispensing unit back together.

Push the dispensing unit back ontothe main dispenser. Press firmly toensure the spouts at the bottom con-nect correctly with the edge of thedispenser.

Replace the stainless steel cover andconnect the milk pipe if applicable.

Clean all parts by hand only usingwarm water and dishwashing liquid.Use the cleaning brush supplied toremove milk residue from the milkpipework if necessary.

Rinse all parts carefully under runningwater.

Residual dishwashing liquid can affectthe taste of milk from the applianceand the quality of the milk froth.

Dry all parts thoroughly.

Reassemble the milk flask.

Milk pipework

Make sure that the milk pipeworkis cleaned regularly and thoroughly.Milk contains natural bacteria thatwill multiply if the pipework is notsufficiently clean. Contamination inthe coffee machine can be a healthhazard.

The milk pipework must be cleaned atleast once a week. A message in thedisplay will prompt you when this needsto be done.

Confirm the message with OK.

When you confirm the message Cleanmilk pipework with OK, the internalcounter for the cleaning interval will bereset. You will not be reminded again.

There are two options for cleaning themilk pipework:

– You can remove and dismantle thecentral spout with its integrated cap-puccinatore and either wash it in thedishwasher or by hand with hot waterand a little washing-up liquid (see"Central spout with integrated cap-puccinatore").

– Or you can clean the milk pipeworkusing the Clean milk pipework mainte-nance program together with theMiele cleaning agent for milkpipework (see "Maintenance program- Cleaning the milk pipework").

Bean container and groundcoffee chute

Danger of injury from the grinder!Switch off the machine and unplugthe power cord to disconnect themachine before cleaning the beancontainer.

Coffee beans contain oils which candeposit on the walls of the bean con-tainer and hinder the flow of the beans.Therefore, clean the bean container reg-ularly with a soft cloth.

Tip: Use a vacuum cleaner to removeany coffee residues from the bean con-tainer and the ground coffee chute.

Open the bean container.

Remove any coffee beans.

Clean the bean container with a dry,soft cloth.

The coffee bean container can now berefilled.

If necessary, clean the ground coffeechute:

Open the ground coffee chute and re-move any ground coffee residue.

Housing

If soiling is not removed promptly, itcould cause the surface of the appli-ance to alter or discolor. Remove anysoiling immediately.Make sure that water cannot get be-hind the display.The surfaces are susceptible toscratching. Contact with unsuitablecleaning agents can alter or discolorthe surfaces.Ensure that any splashes of descal-ing solution are wiped up immedi-ately.

Rinsing the milk pipeworkMilk residue can clog up the milk pipesand so the milk pipework should berinsed regularly. If a drink has beenmade using milk, the prompt to insertthe end of the milk tube into the driptray will appear at the latest when youswitch the appliance off.

When prompted, place the end of themilk tube into the right-hand aperturein the drip tray.

Degreasing the brew unit andcleaning insideDepending on the natural oil content ofthe coffee used, the brew unit can be-come blocked quite quickly. It must bedegreased regularly in order to ensurearomatic coffee and trouble-free opera-tion of the coffee machine.

For optimum cleaning we recommendMiele cleaning tablets. These cleaningtablets are specially designed for Mielebuilt-in coffee machines and will protectyour machine from subsequent dam-age.They are available from the Miele Web-store, Miele Technical Service or fromyour Miele dealer.

The "Degrease brew unit" maintenanceprogram lasts about 15 minutes.

After 200 portions have been dis-pensed, Degrease the brew unit and cleaninside of the machine will appear in thedisplay.


This notification appears at regular in-tervals. Once the maximum possiblenumber of beverage preparations hasbeen reached, the coffee machine islocked.

You can turn off the coffee machine ifyou do not want to carry out the clean-ing program at this time. However, youwill be not be able to make any moredrinks until the brew unit has been de-greased.

Cleaning the brew unit and inside it

Clean the brew unit by hand onlyusing warm water. Do not use liquiddish soap. The moving parts of thebrew unit are lubricated. Liquid dishsoap will damage the brew unit.For good tasting coffee and to pre-vent germs from forming, removeand clean the brew unit under run-ning water once a week.

Rinse the brew unit by hand and clean insidethe machine appears on the display.

Open the appliance door.

Press the button on the end of thehandle of the brew unit and whiledoing so turn the handle counter-clockwise .

Carefully pull the brew unit out of thecoffee machine.

If you cannot remove the brew unit orcan only do so with difficulty, the brewunit is not in the correct position (See"Frequently asked questions").

When you have removed the brewunit, do not change the position ofthe handle on the brew unit.

Clean the brew unit by hand underhot running water without using de-tergent or liquid dish soap.

Wipe any remaining coffee off the twofilters (see arrows).

Dry the funnel to prevent ground cof-fee sticking to it the next time a cof-fee is prepared.

Make sure to remove moist groundcoffee remnants regularly to preventbacteria from forming.

Clean the inside of the coffee ma-chine. Make sure that the areas high-lighted in the illustration are cleanedextremely carefully.

Tip: Use your vacuum cleaner to re-move dry coffee grounds.

Place a cleaning tablet in the brew unit,place it in the machine and close the ma-chine door. appears on the display.

Drop a cleaning tablet into the top ofthe brew unit (arrow).

Push the brew unit with cleaningtablet back into the coffee machine,making sure it is straight.

Important! When descaling the appli-ance, cover delicate surfaces andnatural flooring to prevent damagefrom splashes of descaling solution.Ensure that any splashes of descal-ing solution are wiped up immedi-ately.

Lime scale builds up in the coffee sys-tem through use. How often the appli-ance needs to be descaled will dependon the water hardness level in yourarea. It should be descaled regularly toensure that it functions correctly.

The appliance will guide you throughthe descaling process. Various mes-sages will appear in the display, e.g.you will be prompted to empty the driptray or fill the water reservoir.

The descaling process is required andtakes approx. 12 minutes.

The coffee machine prompts you whenit needs to be descaled. "No. of por-tions until appliance needs descaling:No. of uses until appliance needs descaling:50 appears in the display. Each time adrink is made the coffee machine dis-plays the number of portions remaininguntil descaling must be carried out.


When the number of remaining portionsreaches 0, the system will lock.

You can turn off the coffee machine ifyou do not want to descale it at thistime. However, you will be not be ableto make any more drinks until descalinghas been carried out.

Preparing the descaling solution

We recommend using Miele descalingtablets for optimum results.These have been specially developedfor use with Miele coffee machines andprevent subsequent damage.

Other descaling agents, which con-tain other acids besides citric acidand/or other undesirable substances,such as chlorides for example, coulddamage the coffee machine. More-over, the descaling effect requiredmay not be guaranteed if the descal-ing solution is not of the appropriateconcentration.

Miele descaling tablets are available toorder via the Miele Webstore, fromMiele Service or from your Miele dealer.

You will need 1 descaling tablet todescale the appliance.

Fill the water reservoir to the markwith lukewarm water.

Place 1 descaling tablet in the water.

Follow the instructions for the mixingratio carefully. It is important that youdo not fill the water reservoir with toomuch or too little water. Otherwisethe descaling process will be can-celled prematurely.

Performing a descale

Replace the water reservoir.

Follow the instructions given in thedisplay.

When Rinse the water container and fill withfresh tap water up to the descaling symbol appears in the display:

Carefully rinse the water reservoirwith clean water. Ensure that nodescaling solution residue remains inthe water reservoir. Fill the waterreservoir to the mark with fresh tapwater.

The descaling program is finished at theend of the rinsing cycle and drinks canbe made again.

To protect the appliance and sur-rounding surfaces from damage,make sure you wipe up any spills orsplashes of descaling agent immedi-ately.

Fault messages must be confirmed with OK, otherwise the message can reap-pear in the display even though the problem has been remedied.

F73 orCheck the brew unit

The brew unit cannot be positioned correctly. Turn the appliance off with the On / Off button. Remove and clean the brew unit (see "Removing

the brew unit and cleaning it by hand").

Push the coffee ejector of the brew unit into thecorrect position (see diagram).

Do not insert the brew unit. Close the appliancedoor and turn the appliance on with the On/Offbutton .

This will initialize the brew unit motor and put in backinto the start position. When Insert the brew unit appears in the display,

open the appliance door and put the brew unitback in the appliance. Then close the door.

Too much ground coffee There is too much ground coffee in the coffee chute.If more than two level scoops of ground coffee isadded to the coffee chute, the brew unit cannotprocess the coffee. The ground coffee will be directedinto the waste unit and the fault message will appearin the display. Turn the appliance off with the On / Off button. Remove and clean the brew unit (see "Removing

the brew unit and cleaning it by hand"). Remove the ground coffee inside the coffee sys-

tem, e.g. with a vacuum cleaner. Use the coffee scoop supplied to add ground cof-

fee to the ground coffee chute. Add only a maxi-mum of two portions of ground coffee to thechute.

Unusual performance of the coffee system

Problem Possible cause and solution

The display remainsdark when the coffeesystem is turned on us-ing the On / Off but-ton.

The On / Off button was not touched for longenough. Touch the On / Off button and keep it pressed

for at least three seconds.The plug is not properly plugged into the electricaloutlet. Insert the plug into the electrical outlet.

The fuse has tripped because the coffee system, volt-age or another appliance is defective. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Contact a qualified electrician or Miele Technical

Service for assistance.

CM 6350:The lighting remains offafter the coffee ma-chine has been turnedon.

The lighting has been turned off. Turn the lighting on (see "Settings - Lighting").

The lamp is defective. Contact Miele Technical Service.

The coffee system turnsoff suddenly.

The switch-off time programmed using the timer hasbeen reached. If required, you can select a new switch-off time

(see "Settings - Timer").The plug is not properly plugged into the electricaloutlet. Insert the plug into the electrical outlet.

CM 6350:The coffee machine isswitched on. The light-ing switches off sud-denly.

This is not a fault. The lighting turns off approximately7 minutes after the coffee machine was last used.

The sensor buttons donot respond.The machine can nolonger be operated.

There is an internal fault. Disconnect power by unplugging the power cord

from the electrical outlet and or switching off thecircuit breaker.

The coffee system doesnot switch itself on, al-though the timer settingTurn on at has been acti-vated.

The system lock feature has been activated. You need to deactivate the system lock (see "Set-

tings - System lock").The appliance was not used after being switched onautomatically three times in succession. Switch the appliance on and dispense a drink.

The display is hard tosee or not legible.

The display brightness has been set too low. Change this setting (see "Settings").

Fill and replace the watercontainer appears in thedisplay even though thewater container is fulland is in the appliance.

The water container is not sitting properly in the appli-ance. Remove the water container and replace it. Check the stainless steel water intake valve filter

and clean if necessary (see "Stainless steel waterintake valve filter").

The water container was not correctly filled up and in-serted during descaling. Fill the water container to the descaling mark°

and restart the descaling program.

Fill and replace the watercontainer appears afterswitching on eventhough the container isfilled and fitted in theappliance. The appli-ance does not rinse.

The coffee system needs to be descaled. Turn the coffee system off with the On / Off button

. Wait approx. 1 hour. Then switch the appliance on again. As soon as

PreHeating appears in the display, tap and se-lect Descale the appliance.

Descale the coffee system.

After switching on theappliance the messageEmpty the drip tray and thewaste container appearseven though they areboth empty.

This is not a fault.The drip tray and grounds container was probably notemptied after making the last coffee, or the internalcounter was not reset. Remove the drip tray and grounds container from

the appliance and empty them.

Neither milk nor milkfroth comes out of thecentral spout.

The milk pipework is blocked. Clean the main dispenser, taking particular care to

clean the cappuccinatore and milk pipes carefullywith the cleaning brush.

Empty the drip tray and thewaste container appearsin the display, eventhough the drip tray isempty.

The drip tray is not positioned correctly in the appli-ance. Push the drip tray in as far as it will go. Make sure that the lower panel is sitting on the

drip tray correctly.

Insert the drip tray and thewaste container appearsin the display eventhough both are fitted.

The drip tray is not correctly fitted and is therefore notdetected. Empty the drip tray and the grounds container. Re-

assemble all parts and place the drip tray and thegrounds container back in the coffee system.

The service is open. Close the service door. If necessary, empty the drip tray and the grounds

container. Reassemble all parts and place the driptray and the grounds container back in the coffeesystem.

The drip tray or thegrounds container istoo full or runs over al-though the drip tray andthe grounds containerwere emptied aftereach message on thedisplay.

This is not a fault.The drip tray and grounds container were probably re-moved or the appliance was opened without the driptray and grounds container being emptied. When thedrip tray is removed or the appliance opened, the in-ternal counter for emptying the drip tray and groundscontainer is automatically reset. Remove the drip tray and grounds container from

the appliance and empty them.

Fill the bean container ap-pears in the displayeven though the beancontainer has just beenfilled.

This is not a fault. Confirm the message with OK.

The coffee system doesnot rinse itself whenturned on.

This is not a fault.If the coffee system still has an operating tempera-ture higher than 140°F (60°C), rinsing will not takeplace.

Coffee dispensing is re-peatedly interruptedand the message Fill thebean container appears inthe display.

This is not a fault.The brew unit does not sense the ground coffee.Withparticular types of coffee, it can happen that too littlecoffee is ground or the ground coffee is too fine. Usu-ally the grinding – fine and the ground coffee quantity– are set too low.


Tip: If the coffee is too strong for you or it tastes bit-ter, try another type of bean.

If the message appears during the preparation of allcoffee specialties: Set the grinder to a coarser setting (see "Grinder

setting"). Check the settings for the amount of coffee for all

coffee specialties (see "Amount of coffee"). If nec-essary, select a larger amount of coffee.

Also consider any changed drinks in "User profiles".If the message only appears during the preparation ofselected coffee specialties: Check the settings for the amount of coffee for this

coffee specialty (see "Amount of coffee"). Select aamount of coffee.

You may also need to set a slightly coarser grindersetting.

The descaling programwas started uninten-tionally.

The descaling program cannot be stopped once theOK button has been tapped.Descaling must be continued through to completion.This is a safety precaution to make sure the machineis descaled correctly. This is important for thelongevity and functional efficiency of your coffee sys-tem.

Coffee is not flowingout of the central spout,or is only being dis-pensed via one spout.

The main dispenser has a blockage. Clean the coffee pipework (see "Cleaning and care

- Rinsing the machine").

If there is still no coffee coming out, or coffee is onlycoming out of one side Dismantle the main dispenser and clean all parts

carefully (see "Cleaning and care - Main dispenserwith integrated cappuccinatore").

Make sure all parts are reassembled correctly.

Milk is dripping out ofthe cappuccinatoreeven though no milk isbeing dispensed.

The level of milk in the milk flask is higher than thecappuccinatore. Push the main dispenser up as far as it will go.

The milk sputters whenit is dispensed. Hissingnoises can be heardwhen milk is beingheated up or frothed.Although the milkshould be frothed, onlyhot milk is comes out ofthe main dispenser.

The milk temperature is too high. Good milk froth canonly be achieved when cold milk (below 50°F/10°C) isused. Check the temperature of the milk.

The main dispenser with integrated cappucinatore isnot correctly fitted and is taking in air. Or the spoutsare blocked. Check whether the main dispenser is correctly as-

sembled. Make sure that all parts are tightly con-nected to one another.

If necessary, clean the main dispenser. Rub thespout under running water to remove any dirt.

The milk pipework, connections or the intake tube onthe milk flask are blocked. Clean all parts carefully with the cleaning brush.

The steam jet on the main dispenser has a blockage.

Clean the steam jet with the cleaning brush (see il-lustration).

Coffee grounds havesettled on the lid of thedrip tray and in the inte-rior around the brewunit.

This does not indicate a fault.The movement of the brew unit during the brewingprocess can cause some ground coffee to fall aroundit. The type of beans used, the fineness of the groundcoffee and the amount of coffee ground also affectthe amount. Important! Clean the inside of the brewunit regularly to prevent mold and the like.

The display lights upbut the coffee machinedoes not heat up and nodrinks are made.The coffee machinecannot be turned offwith the On/Off button.

The Demo mode of the coffee system has been acti-vated. Deactivate the Demo mode (see "Settings - Demo

mode").

Unsatisfactory results


The coffee is not hotenough.

The cup has not been pre-heated.The smaller the cup and the thicker its walls, the moreimportant it is to pre-heat it.

Pre-heat the cups, e.g. using the cup heating (ac-cording to model).

The brewing temperature is set too low. Set a higher brewing temperature (see "Brewing

temperature").The brew unit filters are blocked. Remove and clean the brew unit by hand (see "Re-

moving the brew unit and cleaning it by hand"). Degrease the brew unit (see "Brew unit").

Heating-up is takinglonger. The amount ofwater is no longer cor-rect and the coffee ma-chine is not performingproperly. Coffee flowsinto the cup very slowly.

The coffee machine needs to be descaled. Descale the coffee machine.

The amount of coffee orespresso dispensed haschanged.

This is not a fault.You probably changed the drink size by pressing thesensor longer. Touching the drink buttons for longerstarts quantity programming for the respective drink("Portion size"). If you do not save a portion size, themaximum possible amount is saved for this drink.

The consistency of themilk froth is unsatisfac-tory.

The milk temperature is too high. Good milk froth canbe achieved when cold milk (< 50°F/10°C) is used. Check the temperature of the milk in the milk flask.

The milk pipework is blocked. Clean the central spout with integrated cappucci-

natore and the milk pipework with the cleaningbrush supplied.

The coffee grindermakes a louder noisethan usual.

The coffee bean container has become empty duringthe grinding process. Fill the coffee bean container with fresh beans.

There may be stones in among the coffee beans. Turn the coffee system off immediately. Contact

Miele.

The coffee flows tooquickly into the cup.

The grind level is too coarse. Set the grinder to a finer setting (see "Setting the

coffee grinder").

The coffee trickles tooslowly into the cup.

The grind level is too fine. Set the grinder to a coarser setting (see "Grinder

setting").

The crema on the cof-fee or espresso is "notright".

The grinder setting is not correct. Set the grinder to a finer or coarser setting (see

"Grinder setting").The brew temperature is too high for the type of cof-fee being used. Set a lower brewing temperature (see "Brewing

temperature").The coffee beans are no longer fresh. Add fresh beans to the coffee bean container.

If the coffee system will not be used foran extended period of time, e.g. vaca-tion, or will be transported over a longdistance, the appliance should be pre-pared as follows.

– Empty and clean the coffee beancontainer

– Empty and clean the water reservoir

– Evaporating the coffee system

– Clean the drip tray and grounds con-tainer

– Pack the appliance securely

Evaporating the coffee systemThe coffee system should be evapo-rated before it is stored for a long pe-riod of time or transported any distance- particularly at temperatures belowfreezing.

Evaporating means removing all waterfrom the system. This prevents waterand frost damage in the unit.

Turn the coffee system off with theOn / Off button .

Tap .

Tap twice.

Empty the system? appears on the dis-play.

Select Yes and tap OK.

Follow the instructions on the display.

Caution! Danger of burning andscalding at the dispensers. Hotsteam is discharged.

The evaporation process is finishedwhen Program finished appears on thedisplay and the display then goes out.

Switch off the machine and unplugthe power cord from the electricaloutlet to disconnect it.

Clean the drip tray and grounds con-tainer.

The coffee system is now ready to bepacked.

PackagingThe coffee system should only bepacked when it is clean and dry.Residues of coffee grounds can causescratches on surfaces. Coffee and milkresidues or water can cause a build-upof bacteria.

Use the original packaging includingStyrofoam to pack the coffee system.

Also pack the operating instructions sothat they are available when the coffeesystem is next used.

The following tips can help you saveenergy and money as well as help theenvironment:

– Operate the coffee machine in "Ecomode" (pre-set).

– Energy consumption may increase ifyou change the settings for the"timers".

This setting uses more energy appearson the display.

– Switch the coffee machine off withthe On/Off button when it is not inuse.

– Change the setting for the "Switch offafter" timer to 15 minutes. Then thecoffee machine will switch off 15 min-utes after the last drink has beenmade or a sensor button has beentouched.

– If you only want to pre-heat yourcups occasionally, you can switchcup heating off (CM 6350). You canthen use hot water to pre-heat thecups.

All electrical work should be per-formed by a qualified electrician instrict accordance with national andlocal safety regulations. Installation,repairs and other work by unqualifiedpersons could be dangerous.

Verify that the voltage, load and circuitrating information found on the dataplate match the household electricalsupply. This data must match to pre-vent damage to the coffee system. If indoubt, consult a licensed electrician.

The data plate can be found behind thedrip tray inside the coffee system.

The appliance is supplied with a powercable ready for connection to an AC120 V 60 Hz supply.

Connect the coffee system only to aproperly installed outlet with groundingcontact.Fuse rating must be at least 15 A.

The socket should be next to the appli-ance and easily accessible.

To reduce the risk of injury, do notdrape cord over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled on by chil-dren or tripped over unintentionally.

Do not connect the appliance to apower inverter or directly to power pro-duced outside of the normal electricalgrid (i.e. direct solar or wind powersource).

Direct connection to such powersources can cause power surges andtripped breakers when the appliance isturned on, and could damage the appli-ance.

Do not connect the appliance to energysaving plugs or outlets. The reductionof power to the appliance caused bythese devices will cause the applianceto run hot and may damage it and/orshorten its usable life.

Do not operate any appliance with adamaged cord or plug. Contact MieleTechnical Service.

Danger of overheatingIf the coffee machine is installed be-hind a kitchen furniture door, it mayonly be used with the furniture dooropen.Do not close the furniture door whilethe coffee machine is in use.

Please observe the following installationinstructions:

– The location of the appliance must bedry and well ventilated.

– The ambient temperature of the roomin which the appliance is used mustbe between +50°F and +100°F(+10°C and +38°C).

– The coffee system must be set up ona level surface. The surface must bewater resistant.

If the coffee system is installed in aniche, the niche must provide the fol-lowing minimum dimensions:

When setting up the appliance: makesure that the front of the appliancecan be fully opened so that the brewunit can be removed with ease whenrequired.
