ORANGE AUDUBON SOCIETY M ISSION S TATEMENT The purpose and dedication of Orange Audubon Society (OAS) is to promote public understanding of, and an interest in, wildlife and the environment that supports it. OAS’ edu- cation programs foster the recognition of the tangible and intangible values in the remaining natural areas of Florida and the world, and our responsibility for the conservation of the Earth’s natural ecosystems and the services that they provide for the health of the planet. M EETINGS AND PROGRAMS Programs include a 45-minute educational presentation, details about the month’s upcoming field trip, and brief announcements. All programs are free and open to the public. They take place on the third Thursday of each month in September through May from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, except January and June, which are from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. All are at Leu Gardens in the Camellia Room, 1920 North Forest Avenue, Orlando. There are no programs in July and August. The January program includes special events and film associated with the North Shore Birding Festival. The June program includes finger food hospitality and a silent auction beginning at 6:00 PM, followed by a presentation of the entries and awards for Orange Audubon Society’s (OAS) Chertok Florida Native Nature Photog- raphy Contest. Regular board meetings are held September through May at 6 PM immediately preceding the programs. A summer board meeting, usually held in July, will be announced on OAS’ website. Any current OAS member may attend. Members are encouraged to participate on any of OAS’ various committees. Contact the chair of the committee to offer your help.
