How to set up an E-Portfolio

Go to www.google.com click the “more” drop-down, then click “site”

5. Next, choose "Blank Template", then name your site. This will help determine the URL (website address) of your portfolio. You should name it something that sounds somewhat professional, and you should put your name in the title. For example: "John Doe's Portfolio".

6.  Choose a theme. There are lots of fun backgrounds to choose from. Remember, you want this to look professional. 

7. Under "More options" make sure that you check share with "everyone in the world". You can come back and change this after your assignment is graded.

8.  Type in the code (yours will be different of course), then click "Create Site"

9.  First, you will create an Introduction Page.  Click the "Create page" button at the top right of your screen. You will then see this screen pop up:

10. Select "web page" from the templates, and name the page "Introduction". Then click "put page at the top level". Then click "create page".   11. You will then create your Introduction by writing a brief description of why you have created this Portfolio, and what you intend to ultimately use it for. Be creative with your introduction. You should begin by writing anywhere from 25-50 words, but it really depends on you, and what you want the visitors to your site to know. Make sure to click the "save" button at the top right of your screen when you are done.

12. You will follow this process to create several more pages. Don't worry, you don't need to add content to these pages just yet, you are simply setting your ePortfolio up so that you can add material to it as you progress through your schooling and career. You will want to add a blank page for EACH and EVERY one of the following:

1. Cover Letter  2. Resume 3. The Program Study Outline 4. Certifications, 5. Letters of Recommendation, 6. Honors and Awards,  6. Demonstrations of Competencies.

13. By default, Google will put the pages in alphabetical order, but the order and layout of these pages is up to you (try numbering the pages 1-6 so you can put them in the order you want). Just make sure you create a page for each of these items. If you have a resume, go ahead and add it if you would like. If you have other documents that fit these categories, go ahead and add them now also if you would like. You will be graded on your ability to create the site, write an introduction, and create blank content areas for each of the items listed above. How far you take it beyond that point right now is up to you!

14. Remember, you will be able to change the settings and features of your ePortfolio as you go, and may even end up creating a new one at some point. In the meantime, you can begin collecting and saving your work here for safe keeping. Don't lose your login and password!   15. To get points for the assignment, copy the URL of your portfolio when you are on the "Title Page" and paste it into the "message" field of the assignment drop box below. Make sure to put your name in the title box. Your instructor will be able to visit the URL and see what you have created. After you have received your final grade for the course, you can change the settings so that only you (and anyone else you choose) can view the site. Contact your instructor with any questions.
