OneNote Sharing Developments in Teaching and Learning Creative Arts Faculty – Staff and Class OneNote Overview Alsager School
OneNote is a fantastic resource that we have started to use & develop in the Creative Arts.
Think of OneNote as a ‘Digital Hub’ that can replace your paper files and folders. All the content we currently use to
support our pedagogic practice can be housed in OneNote and accessed 24/7 on any Internet platform. The OneNote is
stored in the Microsoft Cloud and the documents are secure and all at hand simply a click away.
One of the most powerful features of OneNote is the ability to tag and search for any content across OneNote pages,
sections, the whole OneNote and other notebooks. You can also link any image/word to other pages and websites.
How can OneNote be used as an educational tool?
You can create OneNote notebooks for any purpose. I have a
personal teacher notebook that contains - my planner, ideas
page, meeting notes, markbooks and my professional
development tracking. We have also developed Class
OneNote notebooks and a staff OneNote for faculty
management.
A Level Photography Class OneNote.
Contains course content and assessment. Shared with
Lynwood High School in Seattle USA.
Creative Arts Faculty Staff OneNote.
Contains faculty management information and resources
Developing Art HAL Class OneNote.
Create a Project Based Learning activity for art students.
Focus on creativity and new technology.

Beyond Four Walls
We are using Microsoft 365 and OneNote to try and help us open up the learning environment from beyond the four walls of the classroom.
Students are able to view all the content they need in one ‘digital hub’ and are able to develop their learning outside of the classroom and receive
real time formative feedback through the Cloud without us having to back work up on an external hard-drive or physically collect in work.
As every child learns in different ways and we are trying to use technology to differentiate our provision and prepare students for the realities
of modern life.
As a faculty we are at the beginning of this technology journey and I have highlighted below some key areas of development that we have put
in place -
Cb collaboration
Using OneNote we are
collaborating with Lynwood
High School, Seattle USA.
Joint photography project
Using collaboration section
on OneNote
Lead to Skype, sharing work,
peer review and feedback
between UK/USA students
Blurb published photographic
book
Share Content library
resources globally
Rs resources
Interactive resources and
worksheets in one central hub.
Structured course content
into sections, accessible by
all students at the same time
Resources are active and link
direct to YouTube and
websites
Visual Literacy – Resources
presented in the same way
we expect students to
evidence their work
Gives staff more time in
lessons to support students
Sn student notebook
Individual and differentiated
student notebook.
Staff can access and view all
notebooks on any platform
with an internet connection
We have created a ‘Progress
Tracker’ to give summative
feedback to track progress
Differentiate further course
content to individual targeted
students
Students can access & act
upon feedback anywhere
24/7
Df differentiation
The course content can be
accessed at any point
supporting different rates of
learning.
Students can see the whole
learning journey in context
We are able to give effective
and timely feedback in which
the students can reply to
creating a learning dialogue
Frees up classroom time so
we can discuss ideas, risk
taking and technique
