Ballet BasicsBallet Basisc introduces young boys and girls to the fundamentals and creativity of ballet. The camp experience includes story time and choreography to correlate

with the theme of the week. Texas Ballet Theater professional instructors focus on introductory ballet, music, imagination, and movement in each class, with a lot of fun along the way!

B-OCCER!Do you love basketball? Do you love soccer? Well do we have a camp for you! It’s BOCCER! Learn and play basketball and soccer all in one camp. This camp is fun for beginners and those who just like to play sports. Learn the fundamentals of both games, and hopefully turn this summer camp into a life-long passion!

Bored? Let’s Play a Board Game!Learn the rules of game playing and good sportsmanship by playing games. Children will learn how to take turns, strategize, and win and lose graciously. Classics such as Connect Four and Chutes and Ladders will be taught, as well as new favorites like Zingo and Headbandz. We will conclude our week by bringing your favorite game from home and a popsicle party!

Campfire Guitar Camp Bring your guitar and learn all your favorite songs, along with other classic songs. Over the course of the week, campers will learn basic techniques, chords, and styles in order to continue growth or begin a new hobby. Come strum along!

Camp Ukulele Camp Ukulele is designed for

beginning students who would like to begin learning an instrument at a younger age. This camp focuses on having fun while learning how to play a new instrument and explore basic musical ideas. Students will have fun exploring as a group to spark creativity and a lifelong passion for music.

Cheerful Hearts Dance & CheerHands on your hips, smile on your lips, cheer in your heart…Ready to start! The goal of this camp is to enable children to realize their potential while enhancing confidenceandself-esteem.Thisclasswill focus on basic skills and moves in dance and cheer. Students will learn the importance of teamwork and develop positive social interactions as they learn the foundations of dance and cheer!

Cotillion CampThis Cotillion class teaches common courtesy, respect, and manners. Students learn social etiquette skills, such as introducingthemselveswithafirmhandshake, learning to speak and make eye contact with adults and their peers. Dance lessons are included such as the waltz and two-step.

Cyber Security and KeyboardingThis camp doesn’t just teach kids how to type… it also teaches them digital citizenship and online safety. Using fun typing games as well as educational activities from Rex Programming, Code.org, Google’s Be Internet Awesome, and Common-Sense Education among others, we will learn how laptop computers work, how to type, and the difference between personal (ok toshareonline)andprivate(neveroktoshareonline)information.

Dance CampDuring this camp dancers will learn, practice, and study different styles of dance including ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz and musical theater. We will construct a craft, learn about different choreographers and composers, count music and create dances of our own. Come join the fun!

Drone Navigation ChallengeCallingallengineers,flyers,andracers!Using a range of materials throughout the week, you will design obstacle courses and race tracks for a wide range of drones from fast racing spheres to jumping cars to possiblyflyingdrones.Yourbuildmustbecomplex enough to slow down the other teams but well planned and sturdy enough for your team to successfully navigate more than once. In this camp students will experiment with different building materials and learn how to navigate drones using both handheld controllers and a bit of computer coding.

EV3 Robotics: Battlebots and the Scientific MethodWelcome to the Battlebot Arena! Upon your arrival each day the Arena Director will give you the description of the day’s competition. Will it be a head-to-head battle, a race against the clock, or a complex coding challenge? You will then havethreehourstobuild(ormodify)yourrobot, run it through that day’s required testing regimen, and make improvements before competing against the other teams’ robots.Inthisfull-filledcampstudentswill gain experience in engineering, coding, hypothesis testing, data collection, teamwork, and competitiveness.

Football CampDown…set…hike! At Coach Thompson’s Football Camp, you get to learn the basics of football. Run through fun drills to develop your passing and catching skills. We will work on our knowledge of the game and run through NFL plays. You will even get to learn and play classic, fun games like “Two-hand touch,” and “Flag Football.” We will see youonthefield!

FunCamp for Early ChildhoodFunCamp is a summer program offered to Early Childhood students entering Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. Each session includes projects and activities related to a theme. It is an exciting opportunity for social, physical, and academic growth. It is also a time to see old friends and make new ones. Themes include Safari and Science.

The Funny FarmersDo you like to laugh? Do you like making other people laugh? The Funny Farmers Comedy Troupe is just for you! It’s Lamplighter’s own version of Saturday Night Live! We write and rehearse a completely new sketch comedy show every week onaparticulartheme.Asalways,afinalperformance of all student work will take place at the end of each week, so join us for a new show every Friday this summer!

Game Show MarathonCOME ON DOWN! You’re the next camper to try out some amazing and exciting game shows! Test your luck with

Deal or No Deal and The Joker’s Wild! Take the trivia challenge with Jeopardy! Get to the top of the $100,000 Pyramid! Buy a vowel on Wheel of Fortune! We will learn the game rules and strategies for playing, write the questions, and even create the prizes. Who knows? We might even invent a new game show or two!

Junior CircuitsThis STEM camp is all about electricity and circuitry. Students will learn how electricity works as they work with both physical and virtual circuits. We also do a bit of computer programming. Will you make a banana piano, or a jello jumping puzzle, or maybe a water version of Guitar Hero?

Junior Minecraft ModificationsCalling all Minecrafters! Come join us in learning how to make their own server and host it. We will show you how to create a world with rules of your choice that you can play on with just your friends. Students will also learn how to change texture packs to optimize the Minecraft experience. We will teach you what you need to know to download mods safely and securely. Also, with the introduction of Redstone, students will be able to improve their problem-solving skills and critical thinking. This camp includes a group project that will foster teamwork and creativity. A currentMinecraftAccount(about$30)isrecommended for this camp. Parents will receive instructions for how to purchase one a few days before camp begins.

Learn to Code with PBS CharactersIf you can use a tablet, you can learn how to code! In this camp we will begin by playing interactive unplugged (no tablet needed)gamesthatteachcorecodingconcepts such as motion blocks, loops, and sequencing. We will then apply those concepts and create actual computer programs using the Scratch Jr PBS KIDS app. The computer programs will feature characters from popular PBS programs such as Word Girl, Wild Kratts, Arthur, and others. This camp does not require reading.

LEGO® RoboticsWho doesn’t love building with LEGOs? There just always seems to be one thing a LEGO build seems to be missing… it can’t move! Come join us as we make our LEGO

creations come to life with the movement and power of motors and sensors using LEGO WeDo sets. Our LEGO WeDo robots and the short programs that control them will get students excited about building, creating. and robotics. As we build, we will design and make simple tools to allow for the movement of LEGOs to match the program and turn on the motor. We will also discuss the principles of motion and movement as they relate to our robot.

Misterios en LamplighterIn this all-day camp, help us solve “el misterio del día.” Join us in this camp and helpusfindcluesaroundourbelovedschool to solve puzzles. We will explore “la escuela,” make fun art projects involving everyday objects. We will use different art techniques, bake, engage all our senses, design objects, and learn a lot of Spanish in the meantime!

North Texas Chess AcademyJoin the North Texas Chess Academy this summer at Lamplighter for a great week of educational fun! Students will learn basic strategies, patterns and about the rich

PowerKids OlympicsThis diverse camp explores all sports in the Olympics! Individual sports, team sports, goal setting, determination, grit and pride are just a few of the exciting components. The camp begins with an opening ceremony and closing ceremonies will earn each participant a gold medal!

Princess CampLearn all the Disney princess songs and play princess games through dance, crafts, and etiquette. Learn how to walk, talk, and dance like a princess. Campers will perform a short presentation for family and friends.

Purposeful Play: Yoga, Mindfulness and So Much More!Your child will spend valuable time with Ms. Curlin while enjoying lunch outside, taking mindful hikes through the gardens and creek area, and spending quiet time in their yoga practice. Students will be encouraged to keep a log of their time outside with the use of water colors on paper. The purpose of this class is to help foster a greater awareness of self, improve our yoga skills, and to have fun! Mat will be provided.

Robotics Using the LEGO® EV3 SystemBuild and program robots using the LEGO

Mindstorms EV3system!Learnaboutmechanical and software design, loops, conditional statements, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Work in small groups, program and build your robot, and rise to the challenge. Control the robot to avoid obstacles, pick up and carry objects, and play sounds. Projects are structured so that students work in an open-minded, investigative environment while having fun.

Robotics Using the LEGO® WeDo SystemBuild and program robots in this introductory Robotics class using the LEGO WeDo system. Learn basic programming skills, simple engineering concepts, and the names of robot components. Work in small groups to complete several projects using tilt and motion sensors. This is a great way to prepare young robotics enthusiasts for our more advanced robotics programs.

Silly, Sappy, Super SportsCan you play soccer holding two cups of water and not spill a drop? Have you tried to be a human robot and have to make your way out of the most complicated maze in the world? Would you like to engage in a game of scooter kick ball? This is the camp for you! Play some of the silliest and sappiest games this side of The Wide World of Sports! Every Friday, we’ll invent our own games for a chance to be enshrined in the Silly Sappy Super Sports Book.

Silly Symphony CampStudents will learn about all the instrumentsoftheorchestraduringfivedays of movement, games, and introduction. Activities will include an instrument building workshop and an instrument petting zoo. Parents will be invited to a finalperformancefromourSillySymphonywhere students will perform using their own creations from camp. Solar Robotics: NASA Moon BaseWhat vehicles and robots would be needed on a solar-powered moon base? In this camp and you will learn all about solar technology and space exploration as you and your campmates work together to design and build a miniature moon base powered by the sun (or heat lamps if the weatherwillnotallowustoworkoutside).

Solar RobotsWhat better way to enjoy the summer than with robots and the sun! In our solar robots camp, we set our robots into motion using solar energy. We learn about simple machines and how to build them using Technic Lego. We look into the benefitandimpactofsustainablesourcesof energy, and safely wire a solar panel to harness the power of the sun. Don’t worry though, rainy days won’t stop this camp; the students will create a solar battery charger so that when the sun’s away we can still play with the stored energy.

Space StationTake a tour to space and into the International Space Station this summer! Students will learn about the International Space Station in an immersive camp as we dive into the ISS from within, exploring through virtual space walks, interactive video tours, and even seeing the space station from a telescope all the way down here on Earth!

Splash Into Spanish: A Language Immersion CampStudents will learn, practice, and reinforce the Spanish language through songs, storytelling, games, and art making. By practicing the language both in and out of the classroom, teachers are able to make students feel comfortable, and help develop an appreciation and love for the Spanish language. Field trip included.

Spy Camp: 007 ScienceHave you ever dreamed of becoming the next Sherlock Holmes? Nancy Drew? JamesBond?VeronicaMars?Inthisexciting,hands-on camp, students learn the science behind solving crime! Campers are immersed in the forensics and sleuthing required by all great spy detectives, includingfingerprinting,fiberanalysis,decoding secret messages, Morse code, and more! Students collaborate in observing classroom-created “crime scenes” and analyzing clues to become crime-solving experts. Ultimate Drone Obstacle ChallengeCallingallengineers,flyers,andracers!Usinga range of materials throughout the week, you will design obstacle courses and race tracks for a wide range of drones from fast racing spheres to jumping cars to possibly flyingdrones.Yourbuildmustbecomplexenough to slow down the other teams but well planned and sturdy enough for your team to successfully navigate more than once. In this camp students will experiment with different building materials and learn how to navigate drones using both handheld controllers and computer coding.

A Very Potter SummerLet’s make a little magic of our own this summer as we transform Lamplighter into Hogwallers, the American branch campus ofHogwarts.NoSlytherinorGryffindorhere(we’vegotourownhousenames).We will seek out our own wands and master the arts of spell casting. We’ll

play an impromptu game of street level Quidditch. We might even sample a few Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans. Brush up on your Potter trivia and prepare for a wizard duel or two!

Viva VivaldiCamperswilllearnaboutVivaldiandhis concerto “The Four Seasons.” Each day students will focus on a new season through movement, games, and arts and crafts. At the end of the session, parents can enjoy a special performance to a selectionofmovementsfromVivaldi’siconic work.

Who is Doctor WhoThe world-famous Lamplighter Doctor Who club continues its operations this Summer! Students get the option of choosing their favorite episodes, as well as viewing forgotten classics! We’ll write new entries into the ever-growing Lamplighter episode guide, have some deep dive discussions about the show, and celebrate with the Prize Pile and some of The Doctor’s favorite foods!

Yipee Yi YogaLet’s play yoga! Children will have fun learning yoga poses and breathing techniques through stories and games. They’ll help make their own lavender eye pillowsforSavasana(relaxation)totakehome at the end of camp along with yoga folders.
