A NEW Rendezvous Location Crocker Art Museum’s expansion has a no cost first floor experience. I’ve got to tell you, I was fortunate enough to visit on media day September 28 th . I walked into the front of the building registered at the front desk then took in the ambiance of beauty and well lit open first floor. I walked over to the café area and got a cup of coffee. Then my good friends Adrian and Mina Perez of the Latino Journal, motioned to me where they were. You can see them in the photos. You’d be smart to visit for the first time the Crocker Art Museum, and then you’ll want to come back. You can forget about everything stressful in your life when you’re there. Go with a friend, take your family, take visitors from out of town, meet your new lover, or go by yourself. There’s seating outside as well as inside. This is an experience you’ll want to repeat. It’s time you do something like this for yourself. We viewed art that had been in storage for 30 to 50 years. The new extension bridges to the original beautiful Crocker building. The blend was well done. But don’t take my word for it, go see for yourself. Even if you just visit the first floor it will make your day. They are open 6 days a week, (closed on Monday’s). A big thanks to Scott Shields, Chief Curator/Associate Director, he gave us a grand tour. The public opening for the Crocker Art Museum is October 10, 2010 (10/10/10). Pet Tails

Within the Mind of a Millionaire

A Royal Terrier Celti is an 11 year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, a beloved family member of Carol Greenfield and Frank Leek of Gold River. Celti loves going for rides in the car, she barks playfully whenever she’s another dog through the window. Starbucks is one of her favorite hangouts, She loves going there to meet and greet. Celti has a combination of the Irish coat (from her mother) and the American coat (from her father). She is groomed every six to eight weeks and has a love-hate relationship with her groomer. She does not like the baths, blow dries, cuts or comb outs. But a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do. The “Wheaties”, as they are lovingly referred to, originated in Ireland at least two hundred years ago. Many people mistake Wheaties for poodles or Airedale terriers. They are related to the Irish terrier and the Kerry blue terrier. They are known to be the least stubborn of the terriers, and the easiest to train. They were used to rid farms of rodents and other vermin, were used to herd sheep, and made reasonably good guard dogs. They are playful, friendly, and happy go lucky. They are quiet dogs who bark mostly to alert their owners of something, or when they are happy. They are very good with children and other animals. Like most terriers, they are not “lap dogs” while they are affectionate and loving, they are not “cuddlers.” They are good, loyal family dogs. The Wheaties do not shed; they have hair instead of fur. The Wheaten temperament is unique combining the alert intelligence of the terrier tribe with the steadiness of the work dog.

Dream Building and Goal Setting

The difference between a dream and a goal is a goal is what you have to do in

order to achieve what you want. (Your dreams)So how do you come up with a road map for success? Start by coming up with

a list of things you would like to achieve. If this concept is new to you, get some tools to help get your creative juices flowing. You need to be able to see yourself and your life as it can be. It’s hard to recognize those roads signs if you don’t know what to be watching for. But if you’ve got a map, a personalized plan for where you want to go, you’ll be looking in the right direction and you’ll be looking for the right signs and won’t be led off course.

Get those creative juices flowing by creating what is called a “dream board”. Write down some motivational sayings or phrases that will empower you. Go through some magazines and cut out some pictures that represent success, happiness, and fulfillment and put them on a poster board or maybe right on your bathroom mirror (assuming its one of the first things you see in the morning).

Fill your poster with the things you not only expect to accomplish, but dream big - go for the big dreams, creating a collage effect with the pictures. If you’re not use to thinking outside the box, pick up a travel and/or car magazine. Unique Homes Magazine and The Robb Report are a great place to learn to dream big. After all, those cars and homes were built for someone. Why not you?

So find opportunities to introduce yourself to the finer things in life. One of my favorite sayings is “The future’s so bright, you’ve gotta wear shades”. When putting this dream board together involve your family, the people who are important to you.

I’ll share more next month.

Politics is a Four-Letter Word

So political satirist Bill Maher gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame by trashing Republicans/ Conservative values and making vile personal attacks?? Keith Olberman, your star awaits you. Cary Grant, Gene Kelly and Rita Hayworth are surely rolling over in their graves.

Tea Party-backed candidate Christine O’Donnell wins the Republican primary for the DE Senate seat against 9-term RINO (Republican In Name Only) Congressman Mike Castle and the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee says they will not offer ANY financial support in her November battle to claim Joe Biden’s seat?? I have officially changed my party affiliate from Republican to Conservative.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) arrived at a Clean Energy Summit in Las Vegas in a fleet of SUV’s and even used them to speak to a group of protesters outside the summit as opposed to walking the 100 yards to where the group was. I thought SUV’s were a gas-guzzling, climate polluting scourge on society?? The hypocrisy of the tree-hugging left continues.

Speaking of Sen. Reid, he has added a controversial immigration measure to a defense policy bill the Senate will take up next week. The DREAM (Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors) Act provides a path to citizenship for young illegal immigrants who go to college or serve in the military. We already spend billions of dollars in State and Federal money to support ILLEGAL immigrants and now we’re going to spend more to grant instant citizenship because they use this money and got grants not available to LEGAL residents to go to college? When will Americans wake up???

Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) easily won the Democratic primary despite 13 Ethics violations he’ll stand trial for in Congress in the next few weeks. Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) also faces ethics violations this fall. Speaker Pelosi, your swamp runneth over.

Latino Actor/Comedian Endorses

GOP candidate for governor

Latino Actor/Comedian Paul Rodriguez announced today he is support GOP candidate for governor Meg Whitman

As the Latino population grows and evolves in California, so does their political involvement in the Democratic and Republican Parties. With less than six weeks left before the November election, actor/comedian and political activist Paul Rodriguez has thrown his endorsement behind Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman.

This endorsement comes at the heels of an L.A. Times/University of Southern California poll, which showed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown ahead of Whitman by 19 points among Latino likely voters. However, the same poll also showed a large number of Latino undecided voters.

Calling Whitman an “independent thinking candidate who is committed to what we care about most: jobs and education” Rodriguez has joined numerous other prominent Latinos, including the Latin Business Association, in supporting her bid for California Governor. In a prepared statement, he recognized her outreach efforts to the Latino community, something many have criticized Brown for not doing.

Rodriguez came to the political limelight a few years ago when he opted to Chair the California Latino Water Coalition, pursuing changes in existing water distribution policies for farmers. The existing policies have forced existing farmers to fallow their land and layoff thousands of Latino farm workers and those working in extension industries. By Adrian Perez

Legal Ease

Small Claims I often advise clients to sue in small claims court. Besides the fun you’ll have acting as your own lawyer, you will avoid attorney’s fees (on both sides since neither party is permitted to have an attorney). You can bring no more than two claims per year of up to $7,500 per claim, and the process moves much more quickly than a regular superior court action. If you win, you will end up with a judgment that is every bit as enforceable as one obtained using an attorney. I think small claims limits should be increased to at least $10,000 per claim since even at that amount in controversy it is not necessarily wise to hire an attorney to pursue the claim.

Please read this. It’s how politicians dilute a good bill

Speaker Pérez Announces Assembly Salaries Posted Online Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) has directed the Assembly Rules Committee to post online the salaries of the Assemblymembers, officers and employees of the California State Assembly. Speaker Pérez’s action comes in response to a request from Assemblymember Alyson Huber (D-El Dorado Hills), the author of legislation to require all branches of government, including the Assembly and Senate, to disclose salary information online. “The scandals in the City of Bell have made it clear more public disclosure of public salaries is in order,” Pérez said. “Assemblymember Alyson Huber is leading the effort to make sure this disclosure is required by law. We believe it is important that this disclosure be made while those efforts are continuing, so I have directed that this information be posted immediately on the Assembly website.” In a letter to the Speaker, Huber states, “I introduced AB 2064 to require all levels of government – including cities and counties, as well as the Legislature and Constitutional Officers – to make the salaries of elected and appointed officials publicly available on their websites,” and notes, “Unfortunately my bill died in the Senate after amendments were made to the bill that I felt compromised what was trying to be achieved, but I look forward to continuing to work with you to bring more transparency and openness to state government. As I continue to work to ensure that this disclosure is required by law, I believe we also need to lead by example and post legislative salaries on our Assembly website.”

Editor Comment: Rather than politicians voting their own pay raises, I think it might be wise to grade each of them and we the people vote on whether they get and salary raise or even a salary drop. We need to understand how politicians work to earn their money, and they need to understand how hard Micro businesses work to make a living. A Micro business is 5 employees or less.

To have a constant cost of living raise is ridiculous. Economies go up and then go down. A big and small business has to endure the ups and downs of the economy by adjusting to less income in a down period. Government needs to adjust their income down also. Send your comments to: [email protected]

Harvest Moon Celebration

On September 17th a public relation social event held at Fats Restaurant in Old Sacramento thanks to Wells Fargo. Much thanks to Linda Ng. There was excellent wine, tasty or devours, and a delicious dinner.

A Happy Crowd

Kids/School/WorkWould a child at school learn how to be a good citizen if they

had a job? It was brought to my attention that if children were able to work for money while part of their daily school experience they’d learn more about the reality of life. It was recommended working two hours a day to do actual money earning work. The starting age would be 11 years old. A child could have the money earned. They could then be taught how to use it (save, spend, invest). They could better understand what happens with tax money too.

The concept is pretty interesting. I remember when I use to go berry picking, and bean picking as a young child. My mother made me. I did learn the value of a dollar. My brother, sisters, and I would sell blueberries and plums door to door. It wasn’t because we were poor. It was because my parents wanted us to learn. Gary Stalick

Successful Thinkers By Darren Bocksnick

The Sweet Smell of Success

Darren Bocksnick

Though I’m not a coffee drinker, I’ll admit the aroma of a fresh pot of someone’s favorite, savory brew welcomes the morning with pleasantness. Scent is said to be the sense that has a direct correlation to memory over all other senses. In pondering this, I believe there is some truth to this line of thinking.

This being the case, it would explain how the smell of coffee could incite memories of home while mom and dad rushed through the morning before heading off to work in a mad dash. This logic would also explain how coffee could bring back memories of camping in Michigan’s back country where the scent of pine and a pot of the stuff could amplify nature’s wonder with a sense of longing. Additionally, this would conclude how the scent of coffee could bring to mind the memories of various office jobs I’ve held where co-workers scrambled to catch the last drop so they wouldn’t be forced into making more.

If scent truly is the connector of memories, then there are some interesting parallels we can draw with other significant areas of our lives. What if success, that seemingly elusive state of being- had a distinctive scent all its own? Better yet, what if the scent of success could permeate the air around, inspire memories and saturate everyone in the vicinity with its influence?

Like the pleasant memories a fresh cup of fancy brew can instill, success does have a scent. The scent of success is absorbed by being within near vicinity to its reach and influence. As we associate ourselves with successful individuals, we begin to absorb their success into our own lives. Thus, the saying: “we become by-products of who we associate with” has new found meaning.

Then, if we become successful by being within reach of success’ sweet scent and by associating with other success-minded people like those of Successful Thinkers, we through a process much like osmosis begin to take on the memories of success. A transfer motif occurs and the success of our predecessors is filtered down to us through absorbing and remaining in the vicinity or the influence of success. This is the sweet scent of success brewing in our midst!

Facebook Fairy TalesAlthough I was slow to jump on the Facebook train, once I got on board,

my engine was charged and I was ready to roll. I started slowly at first, adding a few friends here and a few fellow authors there. I received permission to friend my adult son who, based on his photos and comments, is having far more fun in his twenties than his mom ever did. My daughter, who recently moved to a cell free zone in the wilds of eastern Montana, is fortunately internet accessible. Via Facebook, I can see her smiling face. I’m relieved that the photos she downloads demonstrate that she has managed to remain upright on the saddle as she practices her new favorite hobby, wrangling horses.

Now I’m not one of those people who feels compelled to share how many cups of coffee or loads of laundry I did that day. I keep my posts to a minimum and hope that they are entertaining and informative. If I’ve had a glsss of chardonnay before I post, they might even be funny.

Much to my surprise I’ve recently heard of a new benefit to Facebook. Discovering long lost lovers, especially those high school boyfriends, the boys responsible for our first kiss or our first whatever. How wonderful to connect with someone you thought was lost to you forever. I know of three women, recently divorced from long term marriages, who decided to search Facebook and see if they could find the guy that got away.

And they got him. All three of them. How amazing that technology is now responsible for bringing two people together, sometimes from across the continent. With over a half a billion users, Facebook is a wonderful site to keep up with friends as well as an excellent tool to market our business to potential clients.

But Facebook as a matchmaker? I like it!

Home Based Entrepreneurs

Two years: When it is time to leave the storefront

for a home officeLa Ronda Bowen

Q. My electrical supply store is down to myself and one 70 year-old employee who wants to work two more years then retire. After 38 years in the business, will closing the store and working from home to reduce my overhead hurt me with my main customer which is now the state?

R. Fortunately, the state cares more about timely delivery of quality products at low cost than about where you are located. Once you comply with all of the legal mandates, your home based business becomes your legitimate store. You will need to obtain a new business license and to update your small business certification information if you make the move. Before you surrender your lease, be sure you can get the license. Check with your city’s business licensing section to ensure that there are no prohibitions against conducting your type of business from your residence and make sure you understand any parking or other restrictions. You will still need workers compensation. Remember to increase your homeowners insurance to cover business liability at the level the state requires. Once you clear these hurdles, just continue to provide the high level of customer satisfaction that has kept you in business for 38 years.

all inquiries.

Cash with CarsDo you realize how much money people pay to have their cars washed,

waxed and detailed? What if you set up a mobile car-cleaning service and cleaned people’s cars at their own home or at their business while they were working? There are so many people that are short on time that would love to pay you to get their car squeaky clean!

To get started make a flyer or brochure listing of all the possible services you offer as well as the amount you will be charging and the times you are available. Then take those flyers and talk to your neighbors as well as people who work at businesses in your area. Have them decide what services they want to have done and how often they want you do detail their car (weekly, monthly, etc.) Once you have secured some jobs, you will want to be sure you have wax, soap, towels, etc. to get the job done right. Before you detail a car/truck, be sure to have a survey for them to fill out before you start giving you specifics of what they want done. Also have them complete a checklist at the end approving your job and requesting a referral or a testimonial.

We’ve all been brought up with the idea that every spring we should clean our homes from end to end and freshen up for our health. This might have come from the idea that in spring, things are fresh and new and cleaning the home will renew your feelings about yourself.

1. Improve Your Health Without Diets Or Pills

Pollens, mold, and mildew spores are dumped into the air at incred-ible intensity. Pollutants from car exhaust, burning fields, and cigarette smoke were also dumped into the stagnant air. All this gunk drifted into your home and when you closed the house up, where do you suppose it’s been ever since? It got trapped in your home. Thanks to today’s air tight, energy efficient homes, your family and guests have been breathing that recycled air-garbage. 2. Your Home Is Your Personal Breeding Ground For Invisible Crit-ters And Varmints In addition to the air-garbage from outside, you have uncontrolled vermin inside. Too tiny to see, dust mites live in your carpet, upholstery, bedding and drapes by the millions. By now their dead bodies and dung are in your house by the billions. They live off your dead skin as do billions of bacteria in your home, including those that cause staph and strep infections. Ever wonder why so many people get strep as soon as it cools off outside? Now you know. Plus, fleas brought into your house last summer don’t die off like they do outside when it freezes. Bacteria and germs have been breeding in the warm fibers of your carpet.

3. Does Your Bedroom Smell Like A Gerbil? Here’s Why…

Besides being Harmful to our health, all the germs, bacteria and crit-ters that live off dead skin from us and our pets, stink. They eat skin and along with other excretions, put out tainted methane gas which smells bad. 4. Heavy Soil From Outside Sifts Deep Into Your Carpet Never To Be Seen Again Until the winter rains have washed the sand soil from the roads and sidewalks, heavy soils from outside are tracked onto your carpet, wiggle down deeper than your vacuum can reach and stay there, grinding your carpet down into worthless fibers. You’ll find them in your vacuum bag.

Choosing a company can be treacherous. I’ll tell you up front that my service is not for everybody, but here are some reasons to choose me: If all you want is a cheap, brush-the-dirt-off-the-sur-face cleaning, lots of companies can help you. Choose us when you want deep, thorough cleaning. We’ll give you the fluffiest, freshest, healthiest, longest lasting, clean carpets possible . . .

5. Finally – Someone Who Can Remove Those Ugly Black Lines By The Walls, or Crevice of Steps I’ve had new clients call us to evaluate some embarrassing black lines where the carpet meets the wall and at the edges of steps and jagged lines under curtains. They told me no carpet cleaner could get them out and in some cases they had tried up to five different firms. But the black remained. I inspected these lines and found the cause to be an air filtration problem. With extra effort and knowledge on our part, the ugly black lines can be removed. I told the client this and they were apprehensive. I also told them if it didn’t come clean as I described, they would not have to pay us. How’s that for confidence? Yes, we cleaned the ugly black lines. Yes, our clients were happy. 6. Do-It-Yourself Folks Get What They Paid For… …Nothing The problems I have described here can’t be fixed very

well with any home remedy. Sure you can dust and do the basic cleaning just fine. But drapes, fine rugs and upholstery often cannot be safely cleaned except by a professional. Let’s face it. If those puny little cleaning systems could even come close to the effectiveness of a trained professional using a $55,000.00 steam cleaning system, no one would pay the money for them. But There’s Still One Thing You Should Know . . .

Green Energy By Geof Lambert Business and You

Twitter: The Now Media Network On any given day, Twitter registers over 30 million posts called tweets, these messages are limited to 180 characters, so it works like text-messaging. While large companies, like Whole Foods, have been successful at building a loyal following on Twitter, small businesses are figuring out how to do the same, so that they too can succeed in attracting customers. In Twitter you can connect to just about anyone-- from celebrities in the entertainment world, to product and service companies, to politicians, even the Pentagon is on Twitter. When NBC’s Ann Curry, for example, reported that a plane carrying Doctors Without Borders was unable to land in Port-au-Prince, Haiti the information was tweeted to the Pentagon by a blogger. And a short time later the blogger got a tweet back from the Pentagon confirming that the plane had landed safely--much to his amazement. Even non-profit organizations like the Red Cross is said to have raised 10 million for Haiti’s relief effort over a short time using Twitter. There are many success stories from small businesses too; the vast audience of 18 million monthly users can be narrowed down to your particular geolocation using filters, and key-word searches, making it easier for customers to find you. With such a large audience, however, the volume of information or tweets and the frequency becomes a sensitive issue. Living in real time, consumers are processing too much information from social media networks, so making your message useful to your customer is important. Consumers tend to follow their favorite brands expecting discount deals on their favorite products or services --that is one way people are tuning in and consuming content on Twitter. And small businesses too can be building a loyal following by providing the same deals in their local communities.

Electric Cars Coming On The Electric Grid

Electric cars are coming. Because of the desire to reduce greenhouse gas/carbon emissions and our dependency on foreign oil there has be quite a dramatic thrust towards the development of electric vehicles (EV’s), and a focus on the smart and renewable energy infrastructure necessary to fuel and support them. Cars like the Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, and Ford Focus Electric, are in the process of creating mass markets for electric vehicles in the U.S. The electric utilities are working towards enhancing their infrastructure by their own investing and using grants from the government. If even just 25% of all vehicles today were EV’s the current electric grid would have a hard time supporting the charging of all of them on a daily basis. By overhauling both the basic infrastructure and the intelligence of a smart electric grid we can be prepared in the future for more EV’s to travel the USA roads and freeways.

While adding capacity and adding smartness are challenges - they are also opportunities. There are other unique opportunities that the growth of EVs can provide in the context of the electric grid. Due to the addition of a large number of batteries by way of these EVs there is the potential to create an energy storage buffer using them to absorb excessive power during low-load periods such as during the night, and become a source of electrical power during high-load periods such as a hot summer’s afternoon. This source of energy can also provide buffer power for smoothing out frequency fluctuations resulting from mismatched demand via generation versus consumption. All of these needs and capabilities will require the integration of sophisticated technologies including communications, wireless, sense-and-control, Internet, mobile computing, cloud computing, Lithium Ion and other battery technology, superconductors, etc.

If we plan now we can make a change in the source of energy we use to get from one place to another and we’ll see more electric cars on our roads and highways.Letters To Editor

The President and Congress have pounded away at the fact they are doing so much for small business. They are arranging for an easier loan process for small business. They are giving a 50% tax credit for health insurance premiums the small business pays for employee coverage. The only problem with the latter is that an owner who is also an employee of that same small business will see premium rate increases (to cover the increased cost of the healthcare legislation) but will not get any credit for their own premium.

In effect, owners of small businesses—including “mom and pop” micro-businesses with only three or four employees will spend more for their own health insurance, making it more difficult for those businesses to insure their other employees and possibly, depending on the size of the owners’ premium increase, force layoffs or put a stop to hiring. I truly wish that the politicians would quit saying that they’re helping when they are doing so only to get votes. Russ Rheams, small business owner, Orangevale,CA

Here’s a link to the information showing the fact. You can go to http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=220839,00.html and check items 14 and 15 which absolutely exclude owner/employees.

7 Essential Android Apps Marcel WeilandMany Californians are starting to take a look at the

Propositions on the November ballot. As a candidate for State Senate, I am often asked my views on the Propositions. Here are a few.

I am opposed to proposition 19. As a Board Member of the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependency(NCADD), I have seen first hand the lives devastated by drug abuse. Legalization of marijuana would increase the hazards of the roadways by increasing the number of individuals operating a motor vehicle under the influence. In addition, marijuana is known as a gateway drug that leads to the use of stronger and more destructive drugs.

I oppose proposition 21. Proposition 21 is an attempt to fix a larger problem in state government; overspending. The simple fact that our state parks system is running out of money does not justify taking more from all taxpayers by increasing the vehicle surcharge.

The legislature needs to reform their own spending habits in order to cover their costs. Taxing the citizens of California is not the solution. A better solution is to increase use fees on the state park system. Like so many tricks and gimmicks pushed by Sacramento politicians, Prop. 21 is a scheme to reintroduce the car tax so they can shift general fund revenues - already allocated to state parks by the governor - toward other wasteful spending.

I support Proposition 23. The suspension of AB32 is critical to the economic growth of California and essential in preserving our individual rights and freedoms. AB32 would raise prices for consumers and place added regulation on top of the regulation already forced upon business in California. In these tough times it is irresponsible to pass legislation that would harm our job creating businesses and yet AB32 does exactly that.

1 Password: Maybe it’s a little scary to have all your passwords on a mobile device, but 1Password is the best password manager around.

It keeps track of all of your complicated “G2zs01Tt”-type passwords in a simple program, using a single master password as the key. You have to manually import your passwords onto your phone from your computer, which is annoying. It’s still in beta, so it’s a bit rough around the edges. Technically free, but requires $39.95 purchase of the desktop version. Android 2.1+

Amazon: The Amazon App for Android presents a shopping experience customized specifically for your mobile device running the Android operating system. The App allows you to easily search for and find the stuff you want to buy, view product specs on item detail pages. There you’ll find product descriptions, customer reviews, similar offerings, and the options to add the item to your Wish List, the shopping cart or buy it instantly using 1-Click ordering. The App helps you turn on Mobile 1-Click, provides easy access to your address book and payment methods, and presents you with all the convenient shopping features available on Amazon.com.

Astro: The Astro File Manager helps you get the most out of your Android smart phone. The Android operating system is designed to be very open and flexible, giving its users the chance to do more things on their phone than

ever before. Astro helps your phone reach its full potential by giving you the tools to manage your phone.

Documents To Go: Now you can get your work done no matter where you are by using Documents To Go to view, edit and create Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files as well as view Adobe PDF files on your Android-powered smartphone. And since it is full featured yet easy to use, Documents To Go is one mobile office suite that makes good business sense.

Flixster: With Movies by Flixster, the #1 movie app for the iPhone and Facebook, you can watch high-quality trailers and video clips for almost any movie, see the top box office rankings, hot upcoming movies and new DVD releases, get info on any movie in theaters or on DVD, get local showtimes, read Rotten Tomatoes reviews and user reviews from Flixster.com, and connect with Facebook to save your ratings and share them with your friends.

LogMeIn Ignition for Android lets you access your work and home computers, easily. Update that important presentation for your boss or share your photo library with your mom. You never have to worry about leaving anything behind again.

Astrid is a to-do list/task tracking system for Google’s Android platform built with your productivity in mind. Astrid’s goal is to be simple to use with the features you need to stay productive and get things done.

Time Goes ByBe Aware: Have Daily moments of

Joy or Happiness. It’s wise to be thinking in the present not in the past or in the future. I go for a walk every morning; I’ve spotted bright vibrant colorful flowers. I enjoy my walk by. Then when I see a rose (red, pink, yellow) I smell it. That can make my day. I have wonderful memories of moments in my life.

Abraham Lincoln our 16th President once said, “The better part of one’s life consists of his friendships.” Your friendship makes my life richer.

The author Edward Bulwer Lytton once said, to find what you seek on the road of life, the best proverb of all is that which says: “Leave no stone unturned.” Always give your very best!

How To Get Started Blogging (and Eventually Guest Blogging)

Do you blog regularly? If not, you probably should. It can really help your career by positioning you as a thought leader (however modestly at first), and open doors you may not have even realized were there.

So if you’re not blogging regularly – whether it’s for your own site, or for somebody else’s, it’s probably because you just haven’t gotten started yet. I know, I know – you’re swamped, you’ve got a million things on your plate, and worst of all – you’re not sure what to write about! Setup a Blog – Right Now

The secret to getting started is this – to get started right now. Not tomorrow, not next week – you’ve got to take action right now. Otherwise, you know what happens – you put “Starting My Blog” on your “To Do” list – and then you get busy. And this gets pushed back, and pushed back, and so on. But What Should I Write About?

Anything you want, really - provided:You really like the subject, and you’re very passionate about it1. You can picture another enthusiast wanting to read about this topic2.

How Often Should I Write? You should write at least once a week, but I’d recommend every day.

There’s nothing like doing something every single day to become proficient at it. You’ve got to put in a certain number of hours before you can become good at any skill – the sooner you can put in those hours, the better.Onwards

Blogging is a great way to establish your thought leadership – and guest blogging is a fantastic way to get in front of new, large audiences. But again, you already knew that…so use the steps we outlined here to get started – today!

Roger Niello Kicked off his State Senate Campaign

Early Monday morning September 20th Roger took his campaign on the road. He started at Dianda’s Italian Café on Fair Oaks Blvd. in Old Fair Oaks. He was joined by supporters including Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan, and local Rancho Cordova resident Randy Taylor.

Roger jumped into his 33-foot mobile campaign office and hit the road. The senate district includes 12 counties and stretches from the Mammoth Lakes to the Oregon border.

The Roger Niello for State Senate

campaign has taken to the airwaves with two new commercials that began running on Monday, 9/27. New TV and radio spots highlight Roger’s positive record in the State Assembly and his desire to continue the fight for budget and regulatory reform to get our economy back on track with new jobs. The excitement for the Niello for Senate 2010 campaign is building as Roger and the campaign travel to Plumas, Lassen, Nevada, and Placer counties this week.

Author Pam Brown said - “A friendship can weather most things and thrive in thin soil; but it needs a little mulch of letters and phone calls and small, silly presents every so often (even love from cyber space) - just to save it from drying out completely.”
