“Meet Me in St. Louis”A day strolling on St. Charles Main St. with; Poker Run; Shopping; Special Discount Coupons. Founded in 1769 as Les Petites Cotes (“The Little Hills”) the town, on the banks of the mighty Mis-souri River saw Lewis & Clark meet to begin their westward expedition. Soon the city became known as “Saint Charles.” Meanwhile, Daniel Boone and his family built a homestead in nearby Defiance. His Booneslick Road later became the eastern starting-point of the Santa Fe Trail & the Oregon Trail. It’s not surprising that statesmen decided Missouri’s First State Capitol should be here. During the 20th Century, residents worked to preserve homes, stores and streets from every period and now it is a desti-nation for almost one million visitors each year.

Red Neck Wedding Murder Mystery. Ma & Pa Red Neck r’ cord-jelly invitin’ ya’ll for vittles after the wed-din’ rehearsal of their son Bubba to Billie Jean. Ma & Pa think Bubba is working several jobs as a cook & paper delivery boy. He actually is an undercover agent for the DEA & FBI. Somebody at the gathering is the head honcho behind a drug cartel. Will Bubba solve the case before he gets hitched or will it be a shot gun wedding? You’ll join in the fun . . . take on a character role (Gomer Pyle, The Duck Dynasty Clan, Dolly Parton, Larry the Fable Guy, etc.). Can you solve the mystery?

Day on Your Own, with some options listed below. Grant’s Farm - the official “prep” school of the

Budweiser Clydesdales and home to over 50 head. Gateway Arch - Discover magnificent views from

the top of St. Louis’ Gateway Arch, an iconic monu-ment symbolizing the city’s role as early settlers pioneered westward years.

American Kennel Museum of the Dog - Home to the World’s Finest Collection of Art Devoted to the Dog.

Missouri Botanical Garden - One of the oldest bo-tanical institutions in the US & a National Historic

Landmark includes a Japanese strolling garden; the Climatron geodesic dome conservatory; a children’s garden, and Henry Shaw’s original 1850 estate home. And Many Other Options, see next page for details.

2016 Spring CCI Rally “Meet Me in St. Louis”

April 25 - 29, St. Charles/St. Peter, MO; 370 Lakeside Park

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Gateway Arch; & the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair!Join us, as we rally just west of St. Louis. We’ll highlight an iconic National Landmark - the Gateway Arch; and an International Event - the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, known as the St. Louis World’s Fair. Our Rally will be at 370 Lakeside Park, located in St. Charles Country, near Historic St. Charles, where you can relive the Early American Spirit. This charming community, located on the banks of the Missouri River, was Missouri’s First State Capitol. You’ll visit one-of-a-kind shops located in restored buildings that date back to the 1800’s. Stroll along brick paved streets. You’ll also find fron-tier re-enactments, arts and crafts demonstrations, music, art fairs, and festivals.370 Lakeside Park. At 300 acres, this new park off of Highway 370 is the largest of 25 parks in St. Peters, but you’ll feel remote from urban hassle and noise. 370 Lakeside Park includes a 140-acre recreational lake with fishing, a 3-mile walking/pet trail surrounding the lake, and the RV park. We will be using one of the 2 Park Pavilions and an event tent, both of which are a few seconds from our Motorhome sites. All sites will be full hookup. Depending in your choice of site, the nightly fee will be $30.10 to $38.70, and you will be able to rent at this rate for early arrival or to stay after. The RV campground area is fully landscaped, the trees still young enough that satellite acquisition will not be a problem. The website ishttp://www.stpetersmo.net/lakeside-park.aspxThemes we are working on for the rally include the following, plus other options:The Louisiana Purchase Exposition, aka, St. Louis World’s Fair. The Fair’s 1,200 acre was located at the present-day grounds of Forest Park and on the campus of Washington Univer-sity. The 1904 fair inspired the song “Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis,” & movie “Meet Me in St. Louis.” A number of foods were introduced or popularized at the fair - the waffle-style ice cream cone, the hamburger, hot dog, peanut butter, iced tea, and cotton candy. Hum, sounds like a potluck!

The Gateway Arch. At 630-feet tall, the Gateway Arch remains the tallest man-made national monument in the United States. An enclosed tram inside the Arch takes you to the top, where you will experience breathtaking views of modern St. Louis-up to 30 miles in each direction on a clear day.A Day in Historic St. Charles. Many who visit characterize historic St. Charles as the Wil-liamsburg of the West. The focal point for a number of the rally events will be in parks or along the

brick-covered Main Street downtown. The St. Charles Main Street, an easy 7 miles from our campground, lies right along the historic, park-lined Missouri River.Main Street is about 8 city blocks of historic buildings, restau-rants, pubs, and shops of all kinds. You can read all about it in your FMCA magazine or at the FMCA website. Jeanne and Lee Zaborowski, your rally hosts, spent a good part of this past Monday, December 21 walking Main Street, end to end twice, enjoying the Christmas sights, having lunch, and recruiting shops to offer special discounts for our Poker Run, just for you during our April Rally.

Be sure to tell them you are with the Country Coach International Rally.Forty-five reserved Rally sites will be blocked from general public reservations for the dates April 22 through May 1 at the discount rate, and held for exclusive booking to members of Country Coach In-ternational until March 1, 2016. At that time the block will be lifted from all weekend dates but will remain on the Sunday night through Thursday night Rally dates for exclusive availability to Country Coach International Rally attendees until March 22, when any unreserved sites will become available to the general public for reservations. Once the block is l ifted, the City will make every attempt to rent the sites furthest from the Rally participants first, saving the sites closest to the Rally partici-pants for last. Your BoardFROM your PRESIDENTby Lee Zaborowski

Jeanne and I are really look-ing forward to sharing some special experiences during this April’s CCI Rally in the St. Louis area. We live close by and stayed at the Rally campground, 370 Lakeside Park, several times while moving from Branson. The park is less than 5 years old and has great sites and facilities. St. Peter County is doing a great job on facility maintenance, cleanliness, and security. Stephanie will probably talk to you when you call to register. She is easy to work with and wants to help meet camper needs.

There is lots of grass, walking/bike paths, and area to walk the dog. The young trees are coming along nicely. There is a huge architecturally attractive pavilion, more than we need but available for our use if we wish. The smaller pavilion is our base of operations. It adjoins the coach sites where you’ll be camping . . . a very short walk. We have rented a good size tent with sides that will be set up con-nected to the pavilion. This will make for a cozy arrangement. Both pavilions adjoin a small lake resulting in lovely sunsets.

Each Rally day should provide a diverse

flavour of the area, from the ethnic food to entertainment, special destinations, and historic themes.

We’ve put an emphasis on participation so we hope you won’t be shy about joining in; from trying on 1904 period clothing, including photos and lore from the period, to taking a role in the Hillbilly murder mystery.

Our day on ‘The Hill’ promises to be a special treat. Be sure to bring you best shopping bag. ‘The Hill’ rivals Boston’s ‘North End.” One of the area’s most popu-lar spots, St. Louis’s own “Little Italy,” known as “The Hill” is the neighborhood birthplace of the late Yogi Berra and home to 28 restaurants and delis. Our host, Hill native Joe DeGregorio, will have an en-tertaining and enlightening day in store for us. We will use 2 buses, like we did in Watkins Glen, to get to ‘The Hill’ where Joe and a colleague will board and take us on tour.

The free day should be a challenge for you - the Arch, Grant’s Farm and all those Clydesdales, the American Kennel Mu-seum of the Dog. What to do?

Be advised, after March 1, getting a site could be challenging as our reserved group of 45 will become open to the general public.

See you there!Lee

Your BoardFROM the SECRETARYby Eric Arnold

Hello all. I hope all is well with you! Well we just finished the Tam-pa Rally and it was a great time. CCI and the Country Coach Heartland-ers teamed up to put on a great rally and Joe and Bonnie Rossi as our Wagon Masters put together an excellent schedule of events. Some of the high-lights were a lunch cruise around Tampa Bay, a visit to a train museum, lunch at the Whistle Stop café, and the best Strawberry Shortcake ever from the Parkesdale Farm Market. There were 44 coaches that attended the rally and the attendees also raised over 800 dollars for a charity from Kissimmee, FL called “Give Kids the World.” If

you haven’t had the chance to make a rally lately I highly suggest you try to make one. There are two more this year, St. Louis in April and Kentucky Horse Park in October, and both should be a lot of fun.

Calling all volunteers! Election season is here in our nation but also at Country Coach Interna-tional. Nominations will soon open up for multiple positions on the Board. If you would like to help out with the future of CCI please give this some thought and if you have any questions please ask a Board Member and we will help you out. Let’s keep this club great!

Drive safe and hope to see you on the road! Eric Arnold

Rally Highlights from Tampa Bay

by Janet Sanders, PresidentSoutheast Country Coachers

While snowstorms tracked across the north, some of us enjoyed warmer weather at the CCI Tampa Rally at LazyDays. The weather before and after the rally was great for sitting around outside so many of us took advantage to visit the area and the many friends and relatives that seem to have relocated to Florida, even if it is just for the winter. The weather during the rally was a tad too cold at 50 degrees and 35 mile winds so we missed being able to party around outside visiting everyone. Still, it was way better than tornadoes and snowstorms up north!

The rally schedule kept us busy with a variety of events, hosted by the Heartlanders. The main event was a white-table luncheon aboard the elegant cruise yacht Star Ship. We enjoyed a nice tour of Tampa Bay. We expected to see lush tropical homes on the bay, but had forgot-ten that it was also a busy port. The afternoon was rounded out by a tour of historical Cuban neighborhood Ybor City just blocks away by a nice trolley ride. Some of the old tobacco ware-houses have found new life in shops and lofts, but you can still smell your way to where cigars are being hand rolled.

We experienced a bit of old Florida with a trip inland to the old-fashioned Americana of Plant City. Inland Florida is farm and cattle land, with small towns and trains moving all that produce up North. We ate at the Whistle Stop Café right next to the tracks. The café is in the old restored pharmacy that also housed the town doctor, up the stairs, in the early 1900s. We shopped the antique stores, and walked over to the little train museum.

The Heartlanders kept us busy in the evenings with a movie night ( “Bridge of Spies,” a great choice!), a game night and a Night at the Races with fun gambling on horse race films.

Don’t miss another rally. We hope to see you at our next CCI rally in St. Louis, Apr 25 - 29.

This is home to many of America’s most famous Thoroughbreds; either retired or laid to rest. Your rally package will include admission to the world-renowned International Museum of the Horse, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the American Saddlebred Museum - the Showplace for Saddlebreds, a Horse-Drawn Tour and equine presentations throughout the day.
