PURPOSES

Omega Corporation is preparing a progress report entitled

The Poor Condition of Wireless Internet Connection in

UTHM. The purposes of this report are :

y Reassure the lecturer that the survey can be completed

in time.y Ensure that the outcome of conducting the survey is

correct and accurate.

y Tomake sure that no important working procedure is

missed or left behind.

y To ease the unnecessary workload of the groupmembers.

y Tomotivate the groupmembers to work harder and aim

for perfection.

y To widen the coverage area of wireless internet serviceespecially in students hostel.

and stable connection).

y To ensure that all the students are satisfied with the

freedom they had as internet users in UTHM.y To ensure that all the students are comfortable with the

wireless internet service provided.

from virus, spy-ware, and etc.

Proposal

1.1 Choosing a title

In themeeting on 24th Jan 2008, we had decided to conduct a survey

regarding to the problem issues brought up by the wireless internet

connection in UTHM.1.2 Drafting the proposal

There were 7 components in a proposal and they were assigned to every

member of the group :

on 12nd Feb 2008 (Tue).

Questionnaire

2.1 Drafting the questionnaire

The important thing that we need to take note while preparing the

questionnaire is the questionnaire has to be short, simple and easy to

understand, so that the respondents will not feel troublesome to answerthe questionnaire.

Since our surveying questionnaire involved some specific terms in IT, a

glossary with explanations was included in our questionnaire.

The questionnaire was prepared by Goh Joon Sern and approved by our

lecturer, En. Talha on 12nd Feb 2008 together with our proposal draft.

2.2 Distributing questionnaireA total of 30 sets questionnaires were distributed at 12pm on 25-29 Feb

2008 (Wed) around UTHMmain campus and city campus. All of the

respondents are UTHMs fresh first year students. We were providing

pencils so the respondents can answer the questionnaire on the spot.

Interview

3.1 Drafting

Around 2-3 UTHM fresh first year students will be interviewed

according to our plan. The interviews are not only taking place in

UTHMs campus, but also in the hostel as well, especially in KolejKediaman Perwira.

The questions to be asked are short and simple, so it will not take too

much time of our interviewees. For examples,

3.12 What do you think is themajor problem of UTHM wireless

internet services that need to be overcome immediately?3.13 What are the other problems that need to be improved?

The whole interview process will be recorded as well.3.2 Interviewing

The interviews just started on 3rd Mar 2008 (Monday), and will end by

this week on 7th Mar 2008 (Friday).

Data Analysis

5.1 Graphs, Charts and Diagrams

The results obtained are going to be summarized and categorized

with age, gender, race, faculty and hostel.

Explanations will be attached on each of the charts to produce a clearview to readers. A few discussions and assumptions will also be

added in, so that readers will be able to understand the respondents

thoughts and feelings towards the wireless internet services in

UTHM.

5.2 Interviews

For the interviewees, we will try our best in revealing their truefeelings through our final report. And, we will show the university

the real situation of the wireless internet connection to the student

users.

Recommendation and Conclusion

After we analyze the data, we will provide some recommendations on

how to improve and overcome all these problems. Brainstorming among

the group member is one of the way, but we will also try to get opinions

among the student users. It is one of the great ways in collecting ideas.

Finally, we will conclude our findings throughout this survey. How

important it is the wireless internet connection to students, the major

andminor problems we identified and the ways to overcome it.

Oral Presentation

Final Revision of Report

All of the members will present our findings throughout this survey in

this oral presentation. The presentation will be done with the help of

electronic presentation tools. All the data (charts, graphs or diagrams)will be presented.

In our final report, we will include everything in it. The study

background, problem statements, the objectives,methodology, data

analysis, recommendations and conclusion. Eachmember will be

assigned with certain responsibilities to make sure that everyone is

taking part in producing this report.

CONCLUSION

In a nutshell, our group is making a good progress. We have completed

several tasks such as proposal and questionnaire to get responds from

UTHMs students. Most of the task was on schedule.

The problems faced or will be faced while we were conducting the

survey are:

Some of the survey questionnaires were not completed.

Some of the students were trying to avoid the survey.

Some of the students refused to be interviewed by us.

Some of the students refused their photo/video to be taken.

Inadequate information, for example some of the statements did

not provide clear insight of the real situation.

CONCLUSION

The overall responds that we get from UTHMs student are good,most of

the students provided detail description of our university wireless

internet facilities which will facilitate our research.

So far we have completed 60% of our tasks. Based on our progress we

are able to complete our research on time.

We are currently analyzing the data that we get from the

questionnaire and the result from the questionnaire is expected to

complete within two weeks. As for the interview we planned to execute it

by this week.

We hope that we are able to get the real situation of wireless internet

facilities in this UTHM so that we can come up with several effective

solutions to solve the problem.
