This guide will support you and your students celebrate Olympic Day at your school. You can celebrate Olympic Day with the whole school or just a class. It can be for a full day or just an hour. The aim is to encourage students and teachers to have fun and enjoy being active.

Olympic Day is an international celebration developed to promote healthy and active lifestyles. It is much more than just a sports event, it is a day for the world to get active, learn about Olympic values and discover new sports. Schools from all over the world get active and celebrate the Olympic Movement either on the day – 23 June, or during that month.

Olympic Day is a great way to share your ideas and celebrate within your school community.

How do you plan to celebrate? Let us know! Send details of your activities to [email protected] or tag us @AusOlympicTeam #OlympicDay.

The goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport, practiced without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.

On Olympic Day we encourage schools to award students Olympic Day certificates (see worksheet and templates).

Reward Students demonstrating Olympism

Invite an Olympian or an athlete aspiring for Tokyo 2020 to come along and join in your Olympic Day activities. Email requests to [email protected].

Olympians and those aiming for Tokyo 2020 love visiting schools and sharing their stories of pursuing their passion with purpose, facing challenges, and find “that thing” that you really enjoy and go for it!

Invite an Olympian

We are always wanting to share and showcase with our national and international community what exciting activities Australian School students are doing.
