the handles of the sled,the slider pushes offand runs in a bent-overposition for about 150feet.

Both four- and two-man events require

strong starts with synchronized movementsand pinpoint accuracy from the driver whomust negotiate hairpin turns.

meaning sled. Sliders inthis event descend feet firstand face up in both singlesand doubles competition.Luge has a distinc-tive startin which the ath-lete

swings back and forth onhis sled be-fore push-ingoff with a strong thrustfrom the arms.
