General Security Failure The serial number provided with the software contains a lot of very important information. Some of this information identifies the program to be installed, which features are to be installed and the type of security to be installed. This security is the same for all the OLI products, ESP, Analyzers and ScaleChem. If the serial number has expired, each program will display a message similar to the following:

This security dialog can provide you with information about the software as installed and information about your computer. As you can see, the serial number has expired. The program name is displayed (in this case OLI Analyzer), its current version and revision (version 9.0, revision 9.0.13). The revision number is sometimes referred to as the “Build” number. The Security Info box informs of the current options. You can see that a hardlock key is used and the expiration date is for December 31, 2012. A new serial number is required. Entering the Serial Number Contact OLI for a new serial number. Once you have this number click the Security Options button. The following dialog is displayed.


The current serial number is displayed. Enter the new serial number provided.

Click the OK button. You will be prompted to restart the application.


Your serial number has been reset. If the hardware key has not expired yet you can change or review the serial number and security information. Each program is slightly different. OLI/ESP

1. Start the OLI/ESP Software. 2. Select Help from the Menu.


3. Select “About OLI Software”

This program has not expired. You can enter a new serial number as described above. Click the Close button to exit the dialog.


OLI/Analyzers If the hardware key has not expired yet go to step 1 below.

1. Start the OLI/Analyzer Software. 2. Select Help from the Menu.

3. Select “About Analyzer” 4. If your copy has not expired, then your window will look like this…


5. Click on the Security Options button and enter as in the first section.


OLI/ScaleChem This procedure shows you how to replace the serial number for unexpired copies. Also explained is how to update the network settings (if required)

1. Start the ScaleChem version 4.0 or later Program. 2. The screen should look like this:

4. Select the Help menu item. 5. Select About ScaleChem… from the drop-down menu.

The Installed serial number is displayed. The Security Options button can be used to reset the serial number. This was described at the beginning of this document. Please note: Your serial number will be different from the one displayed. Setting or Resetting the Network Setting This procedure works for all OLI programs. We are using the OLI ScaleChem Standard program. Click on the Security Options button:


You have three options to specify the computer which hosts the OLI Network License Manager. This image is showing the “Name” option (see below)

1. Do nothing: This option is for small local networks where the name of the server is broadcast and detected by the client program

2. Specify the License server IP address and optional port. This is used when the installation is large and the IP addresses do not change.

3. Specify the License Server Name and optional port. This is used when the IP address of the server is subject to relocation but the name is retained in the local DNS tables.

Some installations require a license binding. Enter the appropriate binding. Click OK to save the settings. V2-LWSY-JBSV-1FK8-57TQ-3RRJ-JUCW Aspen Hysys – OLI Aspen Hysys V7.1 To reset the serial numbers for the standalone version of Aspen Hysys version V7.1 and earlier follow this path: Start Button | Programs | OLI Systems | Alliance Suites | Aspen HYSYS 7.1 | Security Settings and Test This will display the OLIRegClientTest dialog.


Click the Open Security button under Step 1 This activates the OLI Security Provider. Next click the Open About Dialog button.

Click the Security Options button and enter the new serial number as displayed in the section Entering the Serial Number on page 2 above. The serial number has been updated. You will need to close the program. Click the Close button. You will now need to close the OLIRegClientTet dialog.


Click the Close button. You may now use the Aspen Hysys program with the OLI interface. Aspen Hysys V7.2 and later The steps for this version are the same but the path to access the program is slightly different: Start Menu | Programs | OLI Systems | OLI Engine in Aspen HYSYS V7.3 |Tools | Security Settings and Test The steps to reset the serial numbers are the same as found in section Aspen Hysys V7.1 on page 10 above OLI Alliance Products Ivensys SimSci’s ProII 8.x and 9.x Follow this path to update the serial number for the stand-alone or client versions.
