INTRODUCTION
For all of the images colors were altered with gray scales, balance
colors, colorize, brightness, hue, saturation and contrast tools. In the
same each one was scaled and cropped, and different techniques as
heal and smudge were applied. Still, below there are the main
techniques applied on each picture.
4
ALIVE
Main Techniques: Selective Colorization and Panting
Explanation: For this picture I first decided to change the hues and tones of the original image. As a result I
colorized the entire picture with warmer colors. After that with the paint tool I painted the walls on the side with
more vivid colors, as well as the sky in the background and the ships. Finally, I selectively colored the channel,
giving a more natural and filth-less look, making it bluish turquoise. These are the different techniques I added
to this picture, which make it look more artistic and vivid, and in the same way cleaner and less contaminated.
Message: Vivid Colors Filled the Channel, Filled Our Hearts…

LIGHT
Main Techniques: Background Removal, Filter (Artistic) and Painting
Explanation: For this image I began removing the cloudy background and painting it light turquoise blue.
Afterwards, I selectively colored the Sena, in a similar way I did in the last picture. In the same way I colorized
the Eiffel tower with brighter, yellowish colors to make it standout. Then I removed the cars on the side and
colored the trees to remove pollution signs. Finally I added an artistic cartoon filter for the picture to look like
an old drawing. The final result is a much prettier look at Paris.
Message: In Older Times Art Was Our Homely Home….
6
AN OLD PERSPECTIVE
Main Techniques: Clonning (Photo Montage), Painting and Filter (Artistic)
Explantion: For this picture I desturated the colors and then painted with birghter ones the clouds , sky and
cathdreal. Afterwards, I clonned, using the circular slection tool, part of the tree. Using this clonned image I
erased any trace of tourists ffrom the image, as well as cars and the actual modern city. Then I simply colorized
with a brighter green the newly added foreground. The rsult was a rather clean, old and vivid look at Notre
Dame.
Message: Before There Was No One To Contaminate, Simply Greenish Fences…

RULES OF YORE
Main Techniques: Filter (Artistic, Cartoon) and Selective Colorization
Explanation: For this image I first selectively colored the lake and ice caps. Then I gave the sky a whiter look
and the tree a darker ones. After wards, I toned the colors down into warmer colors. With the result I painted the
House of the Parliament with a reddish pink hue. For its roofs, I used a grayish tone. Finally, I added an artistic
cartoon filter to give more emphasis to the lines and shapes. I ended with a much happier and natural look at the
House of the Parliament.
Message: In Past Times, Justice Was Made And It Was Made With Fun….

THE FALL OF RELIGION
Main Techniques: Blending and Painting
Explanation: For this picture I first decided to paint the background, sky, entirely light turquoise blue. Then, I
painted the Basilica with a whitish hue, only on certain parts for it to standout. After, I gave a warmer tone to
the people in the foreground so resembles old times, when everyone was homely. Then I added an artistic filter.
Lastly, I blended the picture with an autumn picture I found in the Internet, in order to show the greatness of
yore. In the end, we can appreciate an artistic and rough look of San Peter´s Basilica.
Message: When Religion Actually Meant Something, Though It Was Corrupted…

BRIDGE TO THE PAST
Main Techniques: Background Removal and Painting
Explanation: for this picture I first lighten up the entire image, so that the bridge would stand out. Afterwards I
colorized with and electric blue the entire sky, removing signs of modernization. In the same way, I colorized
the river with light blue. Then I cropped most of the picture to emphasize its greatness. Finally, I colored the
green riverbanks with a high pitched light green to erase the trace of pollution. I also added an artistic cartoon
filter. I ended with a vivid image, emphasizing beauty, wonder and art, of the Old Bridge in Florence.
Message: Light Waters, Bold Colors, No Pollution, Just An Illusion?

ROMAN GARNDEUR
Main Techniques: Selective Colorization, Filter (Artistic), Painting and Background Removal
Explanation: For this last image, I began coloring the sky with a light turquoise blue. This way I also eliminated
the trace of the lamp post. Afterwards, I colored the Coliseum with a grayish white too emphasize that in past
times it was actually covered with marble. Then I selectively colored the tree on the side, for it to standout.
Lastly, I selectively added a black and white, de-saturated, artistic filter to make the tourists look as old and not
dangerous persons. In the end the result is a look at the grandness of the Roman Coliseum.
Message: Tourists Were Mere Annoyers, In The End Greatness Always Prevailed…

MESSAGE REFLECTION
The pictures depicted above want to show how these emblematic, worldwide
known places looked in the past and what they represented with an artistic,
fantastic approach. However, when we look at the edited images and compare
them to the nowadays reality, we are able to see how much human activity in the
past few years has affected these sites, making them look as if they were simply
for touristic purposes. Contamination, pollution, construction and new ideologies
among many other factors have change what greatness meant and was in old
times. As a result, this photo album wants to spread the point of how we are
leading these places to their physical destruction and significance loss. It wants
people to realize that we must change our modern ways, stare at reality and
somehow return to OLDER TIMES.
