At the outset, I hereby convey my compliments to the Conference Chairman, Global
Brand Ambassador & members of the Advisory Board of the Oil Spill India (OSI)-2016, on
the launch of the 4 edition of the OSI Conference slated to be held in 11 & 12 August
2016 at JW Marriott, Sahar, Mumbai.
Oil Spill India has now come a long way since its inaugural take – off four years ago. I am
confident that the OSI would go from strength to strength as years roll by.
The theme of the upcoming conference 'Commitment, Synergy & Excellence 'is
extremely contemporary, topical and futuristic. The sheer scale of maritime incidents like
oil spill are so daunting & challenging that we need to collectively push the frontiers of
cutting-edge technology and innovation that would drive synergies in planning, prevention, response,
containment & restoration efforts to redress, mitigate & pre-empt such incidents, going forward. While
technology, knowledge & innovation are the need of the hour, there is a compelling imperative for capacity
building / human resource development and creation of a very calibrated & dispersed awareness.
There are a multitude of stakeholders who need to be on board this vital national disaster response preparedness
mission. To be fore-armed is to be fore-warned. In the run-up to the event it is extremely crucial that there is mass
dissemination of information & awareness about this theme as the same is at a discount, largely. Looking at the
climate change forces & dynamics at play, globally, the future generations will clearly hold us as having been
derelict if we do not contribute individually & collectively towards the cause of environmental protection.
While I look forward to the OSI Conference in 11 & 12 August 2016, please be assured that as the National Maritime
Administration of India, the Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India will be more than happy to collaborate
and partner with the OSI 2016. I exhort all the stakeholders involved in this extremely challenging, complex task
and convey my best wishes for the success of this event.
Shri Deepak Shetty, IRS Director General of ShippingGovt. of India, Mumbai

Dear Industry Colleagues,
In the wake of the recent Sundarbans Oil Spill incident, we are yet again reminded of the fragility of similar eco-sensitive areas in the waters following any oil spill & the increasing amount of uncertainty for similar incidents. Fortunately since the last Oil Spill India Conference in September 2014 at Goa, the quantum of work been done & the progress made on actionable points by various stakeholders of the industry led by Indian Coast Guards (ICG) has been noteworthy.
We are riding a new wave of expansive research, innovation and renewed dedication to advancing effectiveness in oil spill response capabilities. Leading the wave of change is the Indian Coast Guard through numerous measures including: the recently released & comprehensively revised National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan 2015 (NOS-DCP), which meets international standards; An Online Oil Spill Advisory system-a system that places India amongst a select list of countries that have indigenously developed capabilities for prediction of trajectory of oil spills; Mapping of environmental sensitivities in coastal zones, deployment of Aerial Dispersant Spray System & finally facilitating the regional oil spill contingency plans under the auspices of the South Asia Cooperative Environment Program of the United Nations including development of national plans for Maldives and Sri Lanka.
One of the central goals of the Oil Spill India (OSI) Conference is to partake at this critical juncture in brining a promising future for the global oil spill industry & its stakeholders. Since its inception in 2011, OSI has continually evolved & OSI 2016 will be no exception in meeting the changing needs and interests of the community that it serves. Themed “Commitment, Synergy, Excellence” OSI 2016 will continue its tradition of providing a forum on stakeholders commitment for Environmental Sustainability, Oil Spill Preparedness & Prevention, the need for Synergy in Oil Spill Response & Excellence in Restoration efforts.
It is with great pleasure that the undersigned, on behalf of the Advisory Board, invite you to participate in the 4 edition of Oil Spill India Conference (OSI), to be held in 11 & 12 August 2016, JW Marriott, Sahar, Mumbai.
Whether you are a technologist seeking to describe a new development, a scientist or engineer wishing to share a new application or an oil producer wanting to share experiences of your specific needs, Oil Spill India conference provides you with a unique opportunity.
Please join us in this noble cause. Your participation is integral in achieving the objectives of this conference and the effectiveness of the international oil spill community.
Yours Sincerely,
Shri A. K. HazarikaConference ChairmanOSI 2016

Ladies & Gentlemen
It gives me immense gratification to extend very warm & cordial greetings to one & all !!
In today's progressive world we are faced with the dual challenge of developing our economy and protecting the environment. Under no circumstances, should economic growth & development take precedence over protection of environment. Almost all maritime casualties, regardless of cargo, represent a potential threat to the environment. Renewable energy technology is also playing a vital role in reducing the quantities of CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere and contributing to reduction of the greenhouse effect. The challenges faced by the maritime industry globally with respect to sustainment
of marine environment are common and the need of the hour is a comprehensive prevention, response and compensation regime. Pollution defence is at the top of the agenda.
A documented methodology for undertaking any contingency is a prerequisite for a dynamic system. A comprehensive response system must follow the “cradle to grave” philosophy. This implies that the system should cover all relevant aspects from the initial phase of causality management, on scene mobilisation, spill monitoring, response & defueling operations, salvage or wreck removal, waste disposal, monitoring chemical and environmental effects and cleanup post completion.
“Oil Spill India” (OSI) under aegis of “iTEN MEDIA” has been a frontrunner in addressing the impacts of spills at National & International level. Launched in 2011, it is a unique event held in the country which brings together the global experts under one roof. The undersigned is proud to be associated with this noble endeavour since its inception and has witnessed the ever growing support, guidance and response from the world community. Many of you had travelled long distances to participate in the OSI in 2011, 2012 & 2014 and made these three editions extremely successful. Kindly accept my deepest gratitude for your support.
The fourth innings of OSI conference & exhibition will be unique, as we introduce Emergency response, Salvage & Wreck Removal in addition to Spill Response, a combination rarely witnessed under one roof, in any part of the world. Needless to mention, that all these subjects go hand in hand during any maritime causality.
The undersigned is convinced that "OSI 2016" will provide an international platform to consolidate our commitment towards the Environment under the theme "Commitment, Synergy, Excellence".
OSI looks forward to your support & contribution as an expert Speaker, Panelist, Regulator, Administrator, Official from Coast Guard, Navy, Flag/Port state, Shipyard, Port Authorities, Shipping lines, Offshore or Logistics services provider, Classification society, P&I/ H&M clubs, Maritime Lawyer, Salvors, as delegates, sponsors or partners, whether you are engaged in E&P exploration, upstream or downstream oil company, Funds, Oil majors, oilfield production, exporter or carrier of Oil or Hazardous substances, Spill response or equipment manufacturers, OEMs, Training institute or Trade association, pursuing CSR initiative in corporate or private sector or a citizen who is involved and/or concerned about environment and impact of pollution on our existence.
In the spirit of true cooperation, we in this region of the world are proud of nurturing all past / present civilizations + cultures and invite the national + global players to join hands in an action-oriented effort to combat and resolve our common concerns.
It is with great pleasure that the undersigned, on behalf of the Advisory Board, invite you to participate in the 4 edition of Oil Spill India Conference & Exhibition, to be held at the Gateway to India, Mumbai, Scheduled on 11 & 12 August 2016, JW Marriott, Sahar, Mumbai.
Yours Sincerely

Warm Greetings !!
Climate Change & Environmental Disaster mitigation are attendant issues that have now become emergent with each passing day in today's world. Sustainability challenges figure high on agendas as companies reshape the energy basket and we are sanguine that guidance on managing energy security issues through sustainable work practices and climate friendly technology will emerge.
Given the complexity and challenges that the energy businesses face in delivering energy for sustainable development of the world, responsible culture needs to be incorporated at all levels, from the small communities where they operate and throughout their global
business. Implementing sustainable practices leads to good business and is integral to helping companies retain their social license to operate.
Designed to address these key issues of the industry, Oil Spill India (OSI) is now one of the premier global events that brings together the national, regional & global stakeholders of industry to deliberate, demonstrate & collaborate on spill planning, prevention, response & restoration systems. It is intended to function as a thought - starter, change - agent and signpost through the intellectual capital that accrues through the plenary and technical tracks of this conference. An event of immense significance to the sector, OSI has been well substantiated by its previous editions with its widespread acknowledgment and attendance from the global spill mitigation fraternity.
This 4 edition promises to continue with the rich legacy of this prestigious event by bringing to you a rich assortment of diverse, pertinent and eminently interesting subjects of concern to the spill, salvage, wreck removal & marine disaster industries besides showcasing the technological depth and knowledge repertoire of the industry to the wider global audience, thus setting the stage for the future through “commitment, synergy and excellence”.
Apart from the impressive front-end portfolio of the Conference and the Exhibition, there are vast networking opportunities at the back-end. Platforms like OSI are vital to catalyze bilateral and multilateral agreements, especially at a juncture where synergy is crucial for crafting a win-win solution.
An event is only as good as the people who participate in it. While we provide the opportunity, it is your participation that will truly help us achieve our intended objectives. We look forward to your participation as experts, partners, delegates and exhibitors to help the global mitigation fraternity learn from your experience.
On behalf of ITEN Media the Organisers of Oil Spill India (OSI), I extend a warm welcome to the global fraternity to join us for the 4 edition of this International Conference and Exhibition scheduled in 11 & 12 August 2016, JW Marriott, Sahar, Mumbai, India.
Your Sincerely,

The awareness of Environmental
impact due to spills & ship wrecks is
not limited to Offshore Oil & Gas
only, as there is persistent threat to our
coastline, due to major flow of marine traffic,
including large crude oil tankers. The incident
of mammoth oil spill in Gulf of Mexico has
drawn the focus to greater need of developing
newer techniques, technologies and processes
to deal with such disasters. The human
endeavour to explore oil & gas in deeper
w a t e r s a n d e c o l o g i c a l l y s e n s i t i v e
frontiers/zones has thrown new challenges on
tools & techniques for protecting our
environment in case of any spill. Oil Spill India
2016 is the leading forum in South East Asia
dedicated to bring global stakeholders and
experts under one roof to discuss issues
relating to Oil / Hazmat spill, including salvors,
underwriters, equipment manufacturers,
logistics & offshore service providers, Oil & Gas
industry besides the Shipping fraternity. My
Best Wishes to OSI 2016.

“Spill in any form; be it from Oil,
HNS, Hazardous substances etc. is
one of the major threats for the

I am very pleased to be associated with Oil Spill
