Ohio Association Organizational Structure The Ohio Association State Advisor and her/his support staff are Ohio Department of Education employees. Ohio Association consists of 19 regions; each geographic region consists of local chapters. Each region and local chapter has advisors who provide support for Ohio Association’s student members.
Ohio Association Advisor Responsibilities Business Professionals of America, advisors have an opportunity to positively change students’ lives. Teaching student’s employability skills, arranging community service projects and preparing students for competition will have a long-range impact on each student’s future. To best serve students and the organization, each advisor should establish specific responsibilities as priorities.
Become familiar with BPA’s organizational structure and its publications
Take an active part in regional and state association events
Plan and implement a quality chapter program
Mentor students
Become familiar with the organization structure and its publications
Serve as an ambassador for BPA within the school, region, and state
Provide general support to and work cohesively with the regional and state advisors
Provide information on member accomplishments to Ohio Association for publication
Promote the organization to key stakeholders (student members, advisors, school administrators, advisory committees, and the community)
Take an active part in regional and state association events
Communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with regional schools and state-level personnel
Volunteer and support regional and state staff in conducting conferences
Provide suggested solutions to problems within the organization
Exchange best practices and resources with other local, regional and state advisors
Foster a collaborative (non-competitive) working relationship with other CTSOs
Coordinate combined activities with other chapters or CTSOs, when feasible

Plan and implement a quality chapter program
Complete National BPA’s Local Advisor Certification Series
Create or review the chapter’s local constitution
Assemble and publish a chapter calendar
Hold regular chapter meetings
Participate in school and community service projects
Share information with the school’s media communications contract for possible newspaper publication
Communicate chapter members achievement to the regional and state advisor
Plan at least one activity to support Ohio Special Olympics—the Ohio and national service organization.
Mentor Students
Communicate and display a caring attitude to BPA student members
Share interviewing, first days on the job and college application experiences
Invite guest speakers who share students’ career goals and are willing to also serve as mentors, provide internships, etc.
Encourage and assist students to establish a professional network of individuals who have similar goals, values, and interests.

All members will begin with an individual interview and a group session with the Leadership Development Coordinator, total time for this portion will be a half hour. The testing and essay will follow the interview/group session and have a one hour time limit.

Ohio Association State Officer Code of Conduct SCREENING APPOINTMENT
As a Business Professionals of America, Ohio Association State Officer, I understand and agree to abide by the following State Officer Code of Conduct. I will:
1. Serve as a member of the officer team and maintain a cooperative attitude.
2. Follow instructions as directed by State Advisor and Leadership Development Coordinator.
3. Maintain the highest standards of academic integrity.
4. Immediately notify the State Advisor and the Leadership Development Coordinator of circumstances that prevent completing an assignment by the designated deadline.
5. Respond within 48 hours to all phone and e-mail messages from the Leadership Development Coordinator
and the State Advisor.
6. Follow through on assigned responsibilities and submit required reports no later than the due date.
7. Use wholesome language in all speeches and in informal conversations.
8. Maintain appropriate dress and good grooming for all BPA events.
9. Avoid places or activities that can possibly raise questions as to the officer’s moral character or conduct.
10. Ensure that all personal social media postings portray a professional image.
