Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 1st OGSM Virtual Scientific Conference!

It is with a sense of pride and tremendous pleasure that the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM) invites you to interactively participate in the 1st OGSM Virtual Scientific Conference, which will be held over two days on the 5th & 6th of September 2020. We believe this is the 1st virtual conference being organised and held by a Malaysian medical society.

Ladies and gentlemen, the COVID-19 pandemic has effected all of us in one way or another. This pandemic is probably the most critical global health calamity of the century and arguably the greatest challenge that the humankind faced since the 2nd World War. At the point of writing, the COVID dashboard reads almost 17 million confirmed cases worldwide with almost 700,000 deceased, and it is still raging in the USA, Brazil, India and many other nations. While several nations like Malaysia that have done tremendously well in successfully controlling the pandemic and had started opening economic and social activities, a few are experiencing the start of a potential second wave, such is the unpredictability of this pandemic. An effective vaccine is potentially 12 months away, and the “new norm” will just have to continue as a way of life for now. It is with this in mind that the society has undertaken to organize this virtual conference with the befitting theme “Embrace the Change” as a reflection of life during a pandemic.

The scientific team led by Dr Muniswaran, has prepared an exciting and high impact scientific programme filled with up-to-date developments that caters for everyone and there will be a blend of world renowned international and Malaysian speakers to share their knowledge and experience in their field of expertise. The most advanced virtual conference platform available in Malaysia will be on show, to allow maximum participant’s interactivity during the live scientific programmes and not forgetting virtual treasure hunts with lots of prices to be won.

The Organizing Committee looks forward to meet all of you in the virtual world of the 1st OGSM Scientific Conference to truly “Embrace the Change”!

1. In keeping with OGSM’s tradition of supporting education, research, presentation

and publications, we are pleased to provide a virtual E-platform for presentation

during our very first Virtual O&G Scientific Conference.

2. The traditional options of posters and video presentations are maintained.

3. Selected posters and videos will be presented during the virtual conference and top

presenters will stand to win the yearly OGSM awards.

4. Participants are invited to submit abstracts for consideration by the scientific

committee on or before 16th of August 2020.

5. It has to be of original work and must not have been presented or published

elsewhere.

6. The committee will review and select abstracts that are perceived as interesting and

relevant. The decision by the committee is final with regards to the acceptance and

final mode of presentation.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

1. Abstracts must be submitted in English using the Online Abstract Submission Form.

Text must be typewritten in Times New Roman, font size 12.

2. Abstracts submitted by fax or paper copy will NOT be considered.

3. All presentations will be in the form of Electronic Posters or Videos (kindly state your

preference).

4. Abstract texts should have the following structure: Introduction, Objectives, Methods,

Results and Conclusions.

5. The abstract may contain up to a maximum of 250 words. Do not include graphs,

tables, diagrams, pictures or references in the abstract.

6. All abstracts should be submitted on or before 16th of August 2020.

7. Once the abstract submission has been successful, a confirmation email will be sent

to you. Please ensure your email address is correct.

8. Selected presenting authors will be notified by 23rd August 2020 and the presenting

authors is encouraged to register by 31st August 2020.
