    students: U.S. Citizens,

    Federal DREAM Act

    The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien

    Minors Act (DREAM Act) is a proposed pathway for

    legalization for students.

    The Dream Act requires that undocumented students

    fulfill the AB 540requirements in addition to completing

    two years in the military or two years in 4 year university,

    and good moral conduct, in order to receive:

    6 years of conditional permanent residency (green card)

    Permanent residence at the end of the 6-year period

    In-state tuition all throughout the U.S.

    AB130: Signed into law July 25, 2011, authorizes AB540 studentsto apply to for privately funded scholarships given out by a

    California public college/university.

    Effective January 1, 2012

    Requirements: Be classified as AB540

    Scholarships' requirements

    will be implemented by each

    campus.

    Procedures of how to apply for each scholarship will be released by each school.

    What is Deferred Action for

    Childhood Arrivals? Administrative Relief signed by President Barack Obama

    on June 15, 2012.

    A formal way for the government to stop the deportationof a qualified individual for a period of two years.

    It does not grant a pathway to permanent residency or

    citizenship.

    Once granted deferred action, the individual will be ableto apply for a social security number, work permit, and in

    some states a drivers license.

    The Deferred Action Process In order to apply for deferred action, you must be

    undocumented or in the process of being deported.

    If you are in deportation proceedings, ICE will create aseparate process to apply for deferred action.

    DISCRETION: CASE BY CASE BASIS

    Its an approval process. If you dont meet the

    requirements, you should not apply.
