Darrel has been a member of OGAR for 2 years. He is currently serving on the Membership & Community Services Committee where he has contributed many hours in service to our association and community. Darrel’s life journey could have come to a perilous end last fall...Thankfully he is still here with us! Here is his story: “On October 28, 2016 I came into work and had a heart attack. I had 100% blockage in the lower left artery and had a stint put in. The Cardiologist told me that if I would become more active, change my diet and lose some weight that I shouldn’t need to be overly concerned with heart disease. My entire family has been supportive of these life style changes as we have added walking and hiking into our lives on a regular basis, begun eating a cleaner healthier diet, and we have all lost weight. On June 3rd I did my first 5K with my wife and we’re looking forward to our next ones.” All the hard work and dedication is paying off...great job Darrel! Darrel has also actually made several of the meals served at All Member Luncheons here at OGAR...his meals are always tasty! He shares “My little brother and I share the hobby of cooking together. We love feeding large groups of people. With our recent lifestyle changes we are enjoying the challenge of making old family recipes healthier.” Darrel and his family attend Pathways United Methodist Church in Oronogo.
