    TOC Family and Friends,

In light of current social injustices and protests calling for change, the Training Officers Consortium Board Members feel it is important to take a stand. TOC is an inclusive community, actively anti-racism. We stand firmly against any aggression, bias or action that oppresses others. One small step we hope you were able to take part in was last month’s moment of silence. Though we could not stand together in person, TOC felt we were together in spirit – with a renewed sense that this community is committed to sharing this burden, knowing that it’s easier for us to carry together.

As we search for an outlet for what we are feeling, like our collective moment of silence, let us all commit to identifying actions that we can take as individuals and as a community to building a future based on the highest ideals of equality, fairness, and justice. Here’s incredible content available from the National Mu-seum of African American History and Culture entitled Talking About Race— https://nmaahc.si.edu/learn/talking-about-race that provides insightful tools as well as guidance to empower your journey and inspire conversation.

We welcome everyone just as they are and hope you stand with us.

Please take care of yourselves, your families, friends, and loved ones.

Seeking SpeakerS- Call for propoSalS iS openWe are seeking speakers for our 2020-2021 monthly professional development series. This year will be a bit different than years past with more virtual interaction than in-person. We ask that speakers be willing to present in a virtual environment.

We invite you to share tools, skills, and insights on the most timely and relevant topics regarding our field in the federal government. We are especially interested in exploring best practices with practitioners in federal agencies who can provide rich examples and scenarios that will allow for effective learning transfer to the fed-eral workplace.

Check out our Program Archive to see what types of speakers we have hosted in the past. Respond to our Call for Proposals by August 30th to be considered!

The TOC 2020 Distinguished Service Awards nomination period was extended to July 31, 2020. There is still time to submit your program/project for recognition. Winners will be notified in August. The Awards Ceremony will be held virtually on September 15, 2020.
