The Child and Youth department anticipates serving 396 children in 2017. Home was not a safe place for 14-year-old Talia. One night, her mom put her in the car and they fled to a friend’s home. After connecting with Vine Maple Place and getting safely housed, Talia’s mom sought help for her daughter. Talia had become severely withdrawn – she was afraid to go outside or go to school. With help from the child case management team, Talia received a personalized plan for home schooling, tutoring, and emotional counseling. Now, Talia is beginning to heal. She is gaining self-esteem, connecting with other teens, and improving her grades. Because of you, Talia is on the road to recovery.
