Occupational therapy can also provide coping strategies, breathing exercises and tools to help with symptoms related to: anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. The client is valued and respected. A caregiver is encouraged to attend treatment sessions with the client. Their role is to learn how to support the client and become trained to assist in the home exercise program. Services are provided by Heidi Jo Sovacool, OTR, a Wisconsin State Licensed Occupational Therapist, who has over 20 years of experience. GLACC All-Member Meeting Minutes Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017

Hosted by North Cedar Academy

Chamber Board Members/Staff in attendance: Jenny Hengst, Arlene Knops, Sue Farrell, Joni Hall, Jessica Bingham, Scott Von Haden, Brian Michaelson & Kelly Schotzko Absent: Jeff Stoneberg, Sara Baker, Jason Rafko & Andy Albarado. Attendance - 35

Presentation Summary: Mario Friedel, Interim Executive Dir. for North Cedar Academy, talked about the history of the school and gave an update on the changes that North Cedar Academy has recently done along with their vision for the future. They have a boarding school status this year with 35 students. February the enrollment will be up to 50. With the arrangement they have with the UW system, NCA is the only program of its kind in the United States. Don Smith, Deputy Director for External Affairs and re-cruiter for the academy expounded on the changes with an informational slideshow. Bonny Smith, Dir. of Residential Life/Dean of Students, also spoke about the multiple summer programs that are offered that any students can attend for free. They also gave a tour of the facility and dorm after the meeting.

Meeting called to order by President, Scott Von Haden at 12:33 pm. Motion to approve minutes of the Nov. 2016 All-Member Meeting made by Jenny Hengst, seconded by Nancy Wheeler… approved. Board members signed checks. All persons attending were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and tell a little about their business or organization and any events they have. Committee Reports: Promotion: Reminder of Chamber Annual Meeting on January 31, 2017 at Tee-Away. Education: Arlene Knops spoke about the upcoming Workforce Summit (in Andy’s absence). The business class scheduled for January 18, 2017 has been rescheduled for Feb. 15, 2017 Tourism: none Old Business: None New Business: A reminder to members to sign up to host an all- member meeting in 2017 or have the display case at the Visitor Center to promote their business for a month. Andy Albarado’s Office - Courthouse Meeting called to order by Scott Von Haden at noon.

Attending: Sara Baker, Jessica Bingham, Joni Hall, Brian Michaelson, Sue Farrell, Kelly Schotzko, Jenny Hengst, Scott Von Haden, Jeff Stoneberg, Jason Rafko Excused: Arlene Knops Motion to approve agenda and meeting minutes from Dec. by J. Bingham, seconded by J. Hengst… approved. January financial report prepared by Arlene Knops. Committee Reports: Both Arlene Knops and Joni Hall prepared written monthly reports. Joni held discussion of those reports. 132 membership renewals and 7 new members. Promotion: no report Education: Workforce Summit/Sara – positive feedback and the power of positivity. - Committee is planning a budget analysis Lunch and Learn on March 16. Exploring social media presentations for evening presentation in the future. Business communications course is still in the works. - Sue Farrell made a motion to sponsor eight registra-tion fee scholarships for Bruce, Ladysmith, Holcombe and Flambeau high school students for the 2017 Business World. There will be a maximum of two sponsorships per school. Jenny Hengst seconded. Motion approved. Tourism: Governor’s Conference on Tourism dates are March 12-14. Joni Hall will be attending. Board member representative will be selected at a later date.
