The SECESE Conference and Meeting Center offers a wide range of options of hiring representative, historic and other areas in the Pilsner Urquell brewery and the Brewery Museum in Pilsen. The spacious courtyard is also available for large presentations. One truly unique feature is the two Šalandas (Shalandas) – small lounges concealed in the labyrinth of sprawling beer cellars.

ShalandaOffer your clients the unique experience with Pilsner Urquell beer in the labyrinth of historical lager cellars.

In the past, a shalanda was a room where brewery workers would eat and rest. We have continued the tradition of these so-called shalandas, creating two unique lounges in the lager cellars – the smaller Coopers‘ shalanda and the larger Siberian shalanda. Here we offer an original place to relax with unfiltered, unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell beer, brewed using the traditional method.

Specialties of the Shalanda lounges• Unique unfiltered, unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell beer, which you can

only taste as part of a brewery tour or in the Shalanda lounges, ferments in open oak vats and matures in oak storage barrels. The beer is not filtered, thus retaining its yeast content, which gives it an unmistakable taste, aroma and look.

• The cellar master brings the beer to the Shalanda straight from a storage cask in 3-liter metal pitchers, which were commonly used for pouring beer into patrons‘ mugs in the past.

• A pleasant atmosphere is created by the Shalandas‘ interior decorations – authentic brewery tools that were actually used in the production of beer. The furnishings in the shalandas were produced by the brewery‘s current team of coopers.

Hiring the Shalanda• The standard length of hire is 3 hours (this can be modified upon prior

agreement).• The price includes cold refreshments, the cellar master‘s service and

consumption of unfiltered Pilsner Urquell beer. • When hiring the Shalanda, you can also order traditional Czech

refreshments (knee of pork or brewery-style goulash) and non-alcoholic beverages. To observe the brewery tradition, our offer of beverages in the Shalanda does not include wine.

The Gambrinus brewery offers for commercial use the areas of its historic brewhouse from 1869. Offer your clients the unique chance to enjoy an evening in places where the history of Gambrinus beer really started.

The premises of the historic 1869 Brewhouse are very varied and the place is equipped with two bars. One section offers seating for up to 50 people, while the other part, with a view of the present brewhouse of the Gambrinus brewery, features a circular bar.

The Visitor Centre was created with the reconstruction of the historic former wort cooler building. The new interiors offer modern facilities for demanding clients and a pleasant environment in which to relax.

The Visitor Centre offers attractive varied rooms that can be hired individually or as a whole. Part of the open areas of the hall is a mezzanine gallery, where exhibitions are regularly held. The large screening room is fully equipped with modern audio-visual technology and boasts of unique acoustics, as verified by chamber guitar concerts.

Brewery CourtyardFor large presentation events we can offer for hire the picturesque brewery courtyard, which is located between the brewery buildings and can hold much larger events than the indoor areas.

CONTENT

The Brewery Museum can offer you the interesting interior and exterior spaces for rent, either separately or as a whole.

Valečka“Valečka”, or the drying (rolling) shed, is the name given to this charming space, once used for storing and pre-drying green malt, which is to say, rolling it. Another attraction is the functioning model of a steam brewhouse. The model is a unique technical facility in Europe which can produce 30 liters of beer per brew.

CourtyardItems linked to the transport of beer are exhibited in the authentic medieval courtyard. Curiosities here include the late Gothic portal dating from around 1500, saved from a demolished brewer’s house, and a Baroque bell from the 18th century, which the brewery used to signal the end of the brewing of a batch of beer.

A tour of the Pilsner Urquell brewerySee with your own eyes how legendary Pilsner Urquell is produced. You will visit places in the brewery where the golden lager has been brewed since 1842. You will get acquainted with its production, history as well as present, and taste unfiltered and unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell beer tapped straight from oak storage barrels. Visitors can either take a standard tour or one with the tour guide in period costume.

A tour of the Brewery MuseumA tour of the Brewery Museum will acquaint your clients with the story of beer from antiquity to the present day. The museum is located in a uniquely preserved building that once enjoyed brewing rights. It breathes the atmosphere of the Middle Ages and tells the tale of the production of beer and its serving over the centuries.

A tour of the Pilsen Historical Underground Discover life beneath the city, in the labyrinth of corridors, cellars and wells. The Pilsen Historical Underground started to be built as early as in the 14th century. The tour will reveal the secrets of the underground‘s authentic finds and nooks and crannies.

Hands-on brewery experienceGet to know traditional brewery crafts first-hand!• Roll out the barrel – your guests will try for themselves what it was like

to handle wooden barrels. • Become a cooper – for a while, your guests will get first-hand

experience of the work of brewery coopers, attempting to build a miniature version of a beer barrel, in the same way the brewery coopers have been producing them for centuries.

A ride on a horse-drawn carriage or historical vehicle• The brewery horses and carriage from 1942 represent something truly

unique at the Pilsner brewery. Your clients will have the chance to see the brewery premises or the historic center of Pilsen from the carriage.

Enjoy unforgettable moments at the Pilsner Urquell brewery and become true beer connoisseurs. In an entertaining way, you will learn the correct way of pouring beer. You will stand behind the bar yourselves and, under a brewmaster‘s supervision, learn how to pour beer in a variety of ways – hladinka (Creme Urquell), čochtan (Neat), šnyt (Slice) or mlíko (Sweet). You will get a certificate of completion and a beer glass with your name. The basic price of the program even includes cold bites with the beer.It is also possible to order a hot buffet option and non-alcoholic beverages. Our current offer is available upon request.

The draft beer workshop is available in two options:

I. The draft beer workshop with a tour of the Pilsner Urquell brewery If you have not been to the Pilsner brewery before, we recommend ordering the Draft Beer Workshop together with a brewery tour. During the 1-hour tour, you will visit authentic places where Pilsner Urquell has been brewed since 1842. You will get to know the secrets behind the production of this Czech legend, which has given rise to a whole category of beer called lager. In the historic brewery cellars, you will taste unfiltered Pilsner Urquell tapped from oak storage barrels. The tour is followed by the 2-hour Pilsner Urquell Draft Beer Workshop.

II. The draft beer workshop without the brewery tourHave you already taken the brewery tour? Order the Pilsner Urquell Draft Beer Workshop alone for 3 hours.

The Journey of A Brewery Apprentice experience program has been designed for groups of friends, work colleagues or company partners who want to enjoy their visit to the brewery to the full. At the start of your journey, you will walk around the Pilsner Urquell brewery to visit authentic places where world-famous Pilsner Urquell beer was born 170 years ago, and where its story continues to this day.In the magical environment of the historical brewery cellars, you will go back in time to the early 20th century, and using period tools you will try out the historical brewery crafts of ice men, coopers, maltsters, barmen or cellar foremen.As true brewery apprentices, you will get to have a break in the Shalanda, an extraordinary lounge located in the labyrinth of the brewery cellars. There you will be rewarded with famous unfiltered Pilsner Urquell beer tapped straight from an oak storage cask in the cellar.

The experience program includes:• A 1-hour guided tour (does not include the packaging plant)• A 3-hour sit-down in the „Shalanda“ with unfiltered Pilsner Urquell beer
