forming the present progressiveThe present progressive verb tense is used to describe what is happening now or something that is planned for the near future.

Stative verbs describe feelings or situations that continue over a period of time.
Examples: to like, to love, to hate, to want, and to need.
They usually do NOT take the present progressive -ing endings.
Rules Example
1. If the simple form ends in a single “e”, drop the “e” and add “ing”:

putting it all together…Use two small boxes. Cut out the words below. Put all of the vocabulary words in one box. In the other box, place the infinitive verbs. Choose one vocabulary word and one infinitive. Write a sentence using both words.
You can play this game in a group or on your own. Have the first person begin by choosing one word from each box. Then, use the words in a sentence using the present progressive. For example: Play……………bat. I am playing baseball with an old bat. Some of the combinations may make funny sentences. Say anything as long as the sentence is present progressive.
For example: Swim…………..football. My football and I are swimming in the deep end.
