INTEGRATION OVERVIEW

Diagram description1. Axe is installed alongside VS

and MTM on a Tester’s workstation.

2. Using a simple Spreadsheet like structure, a non-technical tester can define test scenarios

3. Axe uses code generation techniques to interpret the Spreadsheet based test designs and generates fully functioning Coded UI Test Scripts in C# or Visual Basic and injects the code into the test project. At the same time detailed design steps in natural language are generated that document the tests (updated in MTM)

4. Tests can now be executed using the powerful test and lab management features of Microsoft Test Manager, including all traceability and analysis tools, as if the scripts were created by hand.

Situation Originally started using HP tools over 10 years ago, the project has built up a formidable regression test resource and now run fully automated in an Agile methodology.

Benefit During this time Axe has enabled them to migrate to Coded UI from HP and enabled “In sprint” automation with Coded UI in an agile team.
