Do Good with WDC DG Foundation by Lynn Neagley and Christine Rocchio
Our Delta Gamma Do Good team had a fantastic month in September representing Delta Gamma at the Light the Way
5k and VisionWalk. If you couldnt make either walk/run with Delta Gamma alums and collegians you have another
chance this month-so save the date and join in the fun!
On Saturday, October 22nd, the Step Out for Diabeteswalk will be at Nationals Park and we will be there! If you would
like to join our team, contact me [email protected] register the day of the event. If online registra-
tion at the Step Out website becomes less complicated, I will post instructions on our website, facebook page and twitter.
Labels for Education and Boxtops4Education- please continue collecting them this month and bring to a DG event or
send them to me. Autumn is a wonderful time for eating soups and stews-homemade or from a can- and an easy way to
collect both Labels and Boxtops4Education by purchasing Campbells and Progresso Soups, Swanson Broths and Stocks
and for something sweet, Betty Crockers gluten free line of mixes-including one for brownies! For those of us who dont
cook, office supplies from Avery and Bic are now part of these programs too so here is your chance to clip and collect for
our Delta Gamma schools as well as for the Maryland School for the Blind!
Those volunteering for Service for Sight projects-remember to email me your hours this month! And let me know if you see
a volunteer opportunity I can share with our chapter members.
Campbell Soup Bar Code - Box Tops for Education - Reading Glasses
SAVE & DONATE those Labels, Box Tops and Eye-Glasses!!!
By collecting labels and box tops (The Labels for Education & Box Tops for Education) from the everyday products we all
use and have in our homes is an easy way to bring much needed equipment to children who are blind or visually impaired.
Campbell's Labels for Educationcan be found on all Campbells Soup Labels, Pepperidge Farm (including
Goldfish, Crackers), Swanson, V8 Beverages, Prego. A list of all eligible products can be found at: http://
www.labelsforeducation.com
General Mills Box Tops for Education can be found on Betty Crocker and Pillsbury
items, along with Ziploc/Hefty, Kleenex products, and many cereals, like Cheerios. A com-plete list is available at: http://www.boxtops4education.com
Another way to contribute is by donating your no longer used eye-glasses/ sunglasses to be recycled
and reused by those in need. We send the used glasses collected to the Lions Club to be redistributed to
underprivileged people who can use them.
*Labels, Box Tops and Glasses can be brought to any Alumnae event and given to any Board Member/SIG Coordinator or arrangements can be made to mail them to VP: Foundation
Dont forget to recruit your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors in support of our cause by asking them to also collect labels,
box tops and glasses with us!

Healthy, Wealthy and Wise by Tricia Williams
Healthy . . . .
Each slice of bread has cup of fruit/veggies! And little kids will even eat it!
o Blueberry Zucchini Bread
1 cup flour
1 cup wheat flour
cup packed light brown sugar
cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
3 eggs
cup natural applesauce
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups zucchini (about 2 medium zucchini)
1 cups blueberries
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly coat 9 inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
2. Combine flours, sugars, baking soda, cinnamon, and baking powder. In another bowl mix eggs, applesauce and vanilla extract. Add
to flour mixture and stir until combined. Gently stir in zucchini and blueberries.3. Pour into prepared pans. Bake about 1 hour until golden brown and toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool in pan 10 minutes
before removing.
Wealthy . . . .
Heres a fun budgeting exercise from the book All Your Worth: The Ultimate Lifetime Money Plan by Elizabeth Warren. Depending
on your situation (saving for college or a wedding for example), your percentages might be slightly different but overall saving at least
20% and spending no more than 50% of your income on essentials is a great idea!
Start with your after-tax income. Limit your "must-have" expenses (housing, utilities, transportation, food, insurance, child care, tuition
and minimum loan payments) to 50% of that after-tax figure. If you can delay a purchase for a few months with no serious conse-
quences -- for example, clothing or dining out -- it's not a must-have. If you're contractually obligated to pay something (a credit card
minimum or a cell phone bill), it's a must-have.
Limit your "wants" to 30% of your after-tax pay. Vacations, gifts, entertainment, clothes, eating out and other expenses are all
"wants." Savings and debt repayment make up the final 20% of your budget. This amount includes retirement savings and emergencyfunds. You can find more information on this budget exercise at: http://money.msn.com/saving-money/50-30-20-budget.aspx
and Wise.
