THE NATTER t Presidents Natter. Hello everyone, Another great evening at the British Club! There was a lot of fun and games that evening, with everyone encouraging their favorite number along during the races. A good turn out too, including Wendy and John’s son-in-law as our guest. Thanks to Brian as our hilarious M.C. and to the committee for working so well together, like a well oiled machine. Our next club night will feature the Escapade’s. The Escapade’s are a vocal / piano Trio specializing in Jazz and popular music from the golden age of the hit parade. From Louis Armstrong to Elvis, Frank Sinatra to Motown - Escapade’s musical prowess and good-humored enthusiasm has lead to rave reviews from a wide demographic of music lovers. This trio of seasoned musicians has the versatility and good sense to read a crowd when putting on a show that’s front and centre or providing a softer ambience as required. Escapade is currently a favorite at Retirement Homes in Hamilton and the GTA; In addition, Escapade has recently performed at the Grimsby Mayor’s Gala and the Ontario Newspaper Awards. A partial list of their Repertoire includes: Lady is a Tramp, Just a Gigolo, Moon River, Don’t be Cruel, Ring of Fire, Georgia on my Mind, Satin Doll, Save the Last Dance for Me, Hey Good Lookin’, Beer Barrel Polka, Sweet Caroline, Can’t Take my Eyes off of You, My Cherie Amour, If you knew Suzie, Suspicious Minds, Do you Love Me? Ain’t She Sweet, Mack the Knife, Fly Me to the Moon, Fulsom Prison Blues, Blueberry Hill, What a Wonderful World, When your Smilin’, My Favorite Things, Blue Bossa, My Girl. As I mentioned last month, the Club will need a new Committee to continue operating next year. I will be asking for candidates for the vacancies that will come up next year and I would encourage you not to be shy in coming forward. I can promise you that you will find it a rewarding experience. The positions to be filled are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Natter Editor, Membership Director and possibly 3 other Directors. Brian Hughes will be staying on as Treasurer as will Joan Hughes as Director but they will need back up. You don’t have to be an expert at anything in particular but just be prepared to volunteer a few hours each month, and your ideas would be the cornerstone for the upcoming events. Cheers Frank October 2017
