Church Life
If you are visiting with us for the first time,
WELCOME!
We are glad it was your choice
to worship Christ with us today.
We hope this time of praise and the study of
God’s Word will be an encouragement for you.
Please join us between services
for refreshments and fellowship.
“My wife Ursula and I have been
attending Connect Church for
about 10 years. I love this
church because of its emphasis
on service. At Connect Church
we have ministry partners, not
members. Jesus Christ calls
us to have a bias for action. He calls us to live out our faith by
serving Him and serving others.”
“I serve Jesus with you by assisting in the set-up of the Acreage
campus early Sunday mornings, serving as a greeter and altar
counselor in the 9:30 AM service at the Royal Palm campus, and
helping lead in the Outreach Ministry. I also serve on the Finance
and Stewardship Teams. During Church Orientation I take the
opportunity to strongly encourage potential ministry partners to get
plugged in by finding a place of service. Nothing builds a sense of
belonging more than serving brothers and sisters in Christ.”

It’s time once more to fill a shoebox and put a smile on a precious child’s face! Instructions available on the patio Royal Palm campus and at the Information table on Acreage campus. All boxes need to be back by Wednesday, Nov. 9th or Sunday, Nov.13th.

If baptism is the next step in your journey of obedience to
Christ, Connect Church will host baptism October 16th.
Please contact the church office to visit with a pastor if you
would like to register for this ordinance.
Make plans now to attend this conference which will both
inspire and challenge us as parents, grandparents, or simply
concerned adults who desire to influence children and youth
for God. What will the next generation look like? That all
depends upon how much we will invest in their future.
Church Life
God promises us generous heavenly
rewards, in a magnificent New Heaven
and New Earth, no longer under the curse
and no longer suffering (Rev. 21:1-6).
We’ll forever be with the person we were
made for, in a place made for us.
Nevertheless, many Christians dread
the thought of leaving this world. Why?
Because so many have stored up their
treasures on earth, not in heaven. Each
day brings is closer to death. If your
treasures are on earth, that means each
day brings you closer to losing your
treasures.
John Wesley toured a vast estate with a
proud plantation owner. They rode their
horses for hours and saw only a fraction of
the man’s property. At the end of the day
they sat down to dinner. The plantation
owner eagerly asked, “Well, Mr. Wesley,
what do you think?” Wesley replied, “I
think you’re going to have a hard time
leaving all this.”

How Do I SOAP?
Today’s SOAP from Pastor Mike Eleveld Scripture: 1 Peter 3:13-22
Passage: “but honor the Messiah as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you. “ 1 Pt 3:15
Observation: How will we be ready? How will we be able to give a defense of the hope that is in us? How will we know who “anyone” is? All of the answers to these questions and more flow from a key relationship. Our “honoring” relationship with Jesus our Messiah is the key.
Application: To “honor” the Messiah implies three things: 1) Exclusive – we intentionally give Jesus an exclusive place of honor in our hearts. 2) Submissive – we intentionally enter each day with a radical submission to serve Jesus in the sphere of influence He has placed us. 3) Focus – the intent of our lives and words give focus to Christ and the Cross. Prayer: Dear Lord…today I honor You as Lord in my life. Today is not about me but about You. I surrender to Your purposes in my life today, and it is my commitment to be ready to impact my sphere of influence with a declaration of the hope that I have in You to anyone who asks or is directed by You to me.
Scripture - Read the passage of Scripture for the day and allow God to speak to you. Look for a verse that spoke to you. Write it down.
Observation - Write your observation as to what is happening in the text. What do you believe is the point of the passage?
Application - Ask yourself how this Scripture applies to your life right now. Write down how it can apply to you today.
Prayer - This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this Scripture, or even a prayer for a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out.
Grab your Bible, a pen, and a notebook.
Get ready to hear from God
through His Word!

Scripture
13 And who will harm you if you are deeply committed to what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear or be disturbed, 15 but honor the Messiah as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you. 16 However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear, so that when you are accused, those who denounce your Christian life will be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil. 18 For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring you to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realm but made alive in the spiritual realm. 19 In that state He also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison 20 who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah while an ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people—were saved through water. 21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 22 Now that He has gone into heaven, He is at God’s right hand with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him. 1 Peter 3:13-22 HCSB

WISE LISTENING Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. MATTHEW 5:5 A fairly accurate description of the human race might be furnished for one unacquainted with it by taking the Beatitudes, turning them wrong side out and saying, “Here is your human race.” For the exact opposite of the virtues in the Beatitudes are the very qualities which distinguish human life and conduct.
In the world of men we find nothing approaching the virtues of which Jesus spoke in the opening words of the famous Sermon on the Mount. Instead of poverty of spirit we find the rankest kind of pride; instead of mourners we find pleasure seekers; instead of meekness, arrogance; instead of hunger after righteousness we hear men saying, “I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing”; instead of mercy we find cruelty; instead of purity of heart, corrupt imaginings; instead of peacemakers we find men quarrelsome and resentful; instead of rejoicing in mistreatment we find them fighting back with every weapon at their command “Into a world like this the sound of Jesus’ words comes wonderful and strange, a visitation from above. It is well that He spoke, for no one else could have done it as well; and it is good that we listen. His words are the essence of truth. He is not offering an opinion; Jesus never uttered opinions.”
He never guessed; He knew, and He knows. His words are not as Solomon’s were, the sum of sound wisdom or the results of keen observation. He spoke out of the fullness of His Godhead, and His words are very Truth itself. He is the only one who could say “blessed” with complete authority, for He is the Blessed One come from the world above to confer blessedness upon mankind. And His words were supported by deeds mightier than any performed on this earth by any other man. It is wisdom for us to listen. “A. W. TOZER, IN THE PURSUIT OF GOD”

Calling all MEN: We need your help! We have plenty of parking available each Sunday on the Royal Palm campus, but much of it goes unused! If you have a truck, please drop your family off at the Worship Center and then park in the grass lot north of the paved area. There are orange cones and signs to identify the entry point. If you drive a car, then after you have dropped off your family, please utilize the grass lot north of the Sports Garden. We would like to provide the paved parking and the closer grass spots for our elder members, ladies and guests. Today’s Sunday School Lesson
This Wednesday is Favorite Hat Night!
Wear your most special hat.
Reminder:
AWANA will be collecting Operation
Christmas Child Shoeboxes throughout
the month of October.
Today, the children's lesson was on how they should talk about their faith with others based on the passage 1 Peter 3:13-22. They learned that they should always be ready to tell about Jesus. Their memory verse today was 1 Peter 3:15. The verse for next week is 1 Peter 4:9 "Be hospitable to one another without complaining. " Practice this verse with your child throughout the week so that they can earn a Disciple Dollar next Sunday for memorizing the verse. Their connection passage today was Acts 17:16-34. They learned how Paul was ready to explain to the Athenians about the one true God.
Review questions from 1 Peter 3:13-22 and Acts 17:16-34: • What did the people of Athens worship? • What did Peter say we needed to be ready to give a defense or explanation of? • Why is it important to talk about your faith with others? • Name two things you can tell someone about Jesus. • How can you be praying for those who do not know Jesus?
The Disciple Dollar Store will be open again November 6th.
Would you like easy access to the free printables, instructions, and activities that are described in the worship folder? Type in this link www.pinterest.com/connect_church on your computer to have access to the weekly Connect Church Pinterest including all of the worship folder activities.
Today the kids learned the importance of sharing their faith with others and that they should always be ready to tell about Jesus. The activities below are helpful tools for your child to use to share Jesus with others. To the left is a gospel origami finger foldable. This origami foldable breaks down the gospel message in a fun and easy way! All you need to do is print it, cut it, and share it. To the right is the "keys of salvation" this can be used as a reminder to your child of our need for salvation so they can share that with others. These template keys can be printed, colored, cut, and strung together by a ring or string.

Directions
You Will Need:
Teddy Grahams • Graham Crackers • Red Icing
This week Puggles will discover that God made the stars.
Cubbies will learn Bear Hug 5. Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Ephesians 6:1
Today, the children learned what the Bible says about crossing the Red Sea. (Exodus 13-15)
This week’s verse is “By faith they passed through the Red Sea upon dry land.” Hebrews 11:29. Please, help your child memorize the verse and
review the lesson by asking the following questions.
• Who led the Israelites out of Egypt?
• How did Moses divide the sea?
• What miracle did God do?
• When you’re in trouble, what is the best thing to do?
The children will earn stickers and stamps this week for knowing the verse and the story.
1) Help your preschooler ice two graham crackers with the red icing.
2) Then encourage your child to pretend the Teddy Grahams are people
walking through the divided Red Sea as they retell the story of the
Israelites leaving Egypt.
3) After retelling the story, your child can enjoy the graham cracker
snack.
