GOD’S CHILDREN Children are the living hope of the future. That is why “a man leaves his father and mother and joins himself to his wife, and they become one body” (Genesis 2:24). Facing the future together as a family is becoming harder in our time. How can we approach God’s life if we do not experience the difference between “childish” and “childlike”? To be childlike is to gain access to holiness. Jesus showed us how to be God’s children. Happy are we! Text, Philip J. Sandstrom, STD © 2000, OCP. All rights reserved.
¡Dichosos somos! Texto: Philip J. Sandstrom, STD © 2000, OCP. Derechos reservados.
From the Desk of Father Kurt In the Gospel today Jesus addresses the question of whether or not divorce is permissible. In his response
Jesus gives us a beautiful definition of not only the sacrament of marriage, but also defines what it means to be human. He takes us back to the beginning and
describes God’s intention of creating man in the likeness of God. He goes on to say that God’s choice to create man as a duality of sexes was intentional, and that it was
for this purpose that marriage was established. In marriage a man leaves his mother and father and joins his wife and the two become one flesh. This very act of man
to enter the bond of marriage, reveals his God like nature, as co-creator, and as one called to love. Jesus says that divorce is contradictory to the essence of marriage, and
hinders his God like calling to love. Jesus is not trying to make life difficult of us, but to show us the way to happiness. He also says that not all are called to marriage, but that all are called to love and be life giving through
our own particular call to service. Let us embrace the teaching of Jesus as best we can and trust in his merciful assistance with our own vocation in life.
Love in Christ

Parish Life would like to thank all who donated their time, items to sell and/or made purchases during our Parish Rummage Sale. We had an abundance of goods for those purchasing with some left over to donate to the disabled veterans. The Knights of Columbus will be having their rummage sale soon so if you missed this opportunity there’s still another chance to find some great bargains. We also sold doughnuts during our sale which turned out to be a big hit! Thanks to all, we were able to raise nearly a $1,000.00 for this event. These proceeds will be split evenly between the parish, Hispanic community, Faith Formation program and St. Theodore School!
