Bell anthem: “The Lord’s My Shepherd” Stephanie Strope, Flute Scripture Reading: Luke 18: 9-14 (NRSV) page 76 Morgan Maxwell “He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and regarded others with contempt: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, was praying thus, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people: thieves, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all my income.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other; for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted.”” The word of God for the People of God ALL: Thanks be to God

JAM Our children’s church, entitled JAM (Jesus and Me) takes place immediately following the Children’s Moment at the 10:45 traditional service on most Sunday mornings and the children are escorted out of the sanctuary to the waiting volunteer parents, all of whom are background checked. The Children’s Moment is listed in the bulletin and it will be noted if the children are going upstairs or staying in worship each Sunday. This ministry takes place on the 3rd floor in Room 304 and the volunteer parents will share a Bible Story with the children and then allow some play time. Parents are requested to pick their children up in Room 304 immediately following the end of our service. This ministry runs from the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day. We take a break for the summer months.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR CHRISTMAS EVE Believe it or not, but Christmas is coming! So we need to get ready! The Children's Choir will be presenting "Build a Manger" at the 5:30 Family Christmas Eve service. Rehearsals will be on November 13, 20, December 4, 11, and 18 from 6:30 - 7:30 in the Sanctuary. There is no ROCK this fall, so we can start our rehearsals a little earlier. If you want to attend the Youth Group service activity on Nov. 20th, and Dec. 4th, come to our rehearsal when that is over. Any child from Kdg.- 6th grade is welcome and encouraged to participate with our music and stories. Join us to see how we will "Build a Manger" and celebrate the birth of Jesus! Miss Susan and Miss Malee

Creation Hymn

Text by Music by11

Bryan Chappell CRAIG COURTNEY

Based on Psalm 19:1-16 and Cor. 5:17

His Praise appears in all I see,

The stars declare His hands to be;

Creation speaks in sky and sea and shore,

Proclaiming forth their sovereign Maker, “Lord”.

High mountains rising to the sky,

Bow down before their Author’s eye;

Sea depths now echoing the land’s refrain,

Their vast expanse too small to hold His name;

He is Lord

But though I see my heart cries out,

“So great a God, cares He for me?”

Yes, He who rules the hosts above,

Surrendered, yet, His life in Love,

Embraced me on a mountain full of pain,

Released me from an ocean’s debt of shame;

He is Lord

Yes, now I see, my heart cries out,

“So great a God, He cares for me!”

And thus a new creation made,

I see Him more and more each day;

With all the wonders that His hands have laid,

I rise to glory in the Son, and say,

“He’s my Lord!” Page 7

Operation Christmas Child Operation Christmas Child is under the umbrella of Samaritan’s Purse, Franklin Graham’s charitable organization in Boone, NC. It has been 20 years since this project began and over 100 million children have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts. The motivation for this program has remained the same. Franklin Graham said, “I want the children of the world to know, I want their parents to know, that God loves them. He cares for them, and He wants them to be with Him in heaven”. There are brochures and boxes in the Gathering room. You can also use your own shoeboxes or plastic ones. You can contact me here at the church if you have questions. Please prayerfully consider filling some shoeboxes for this project. Many families will do this project together and then pray over the box for the child who will receive it. Shoeboxes must be complete and back to the church office by Monday, November 18. Thank you and God Bless. Penny

FISH GETS INTO THE TURKEY BUSINESS and OUT OF THE FISH TANK

At one time FISH of TROY offered a food pantry. With the opening of FIrst Place food pantry, FISH got out of the food business. But, we still get calls for food assistance. Our answer was THANKSGIVING DINNER. Food, comfort, serving a huge need, FISH arranges a complete turkey dinner with the Kroger deli. 17 partner churches are invited to register families in need. Two days before Thanksgiving, FISH COMES OUT OF THE TANK, shows up live at Kroger to distribute these wonderful complete turkey dinners, fully cooked and ready to reheat, all the trimmings plus pies. There is enough food to feed a family of 4-6 persons. Be a part of this annual COMING OUT OF THE TANK.....70 turkey dinners are given out to 70 deserving families. Share your thankfulness. Check it out for yourself.....$56 for a family dinner, the perfect meal. And FISH jumps for joy that day. Myrna Yoder, Volunteer Director of FISH of Troy Page 11
