In the Northern Hemisphere, the season of autumn has begun. This is when the “fire,” the heat of the summer, is slowly releasing both from the atmosphere and from our bodies. Whereas the heart energy was on duty during the summer, the lung energy now predominates. The signature of this lung energy is cleansing.

Do you tend to have more coughing or upper respiratory challenges in this season? Many people do, because this time of year our lung energy-system is more sensitive . The lung system can sense a virus in your body very quickly this time of year . As soon as it is detected, the lungs want to remove it from your system – pronto!

If a virus is sneaky and is not detected and re-moved from the body, it is as if it begins a game of hide-and-seek . The more it hides, the deeper it goes into the body . Think of a bear that slumbers through the winter, no longer wandering around for food, but retiring to the depths of a silent cave . Our bodies follow nature in much the same way . In the winter, the body quiets down to restore kidney energy and vitality . So, just like the bear no longer seeking out food, our bodies no longer actively seek out viruses that may have hidden deeply within .

This negative Qi (the virus) can then expand, like mold growing in your body . Then, when spring comes, this unhealthy Qi will become a bigger prob-lem, affecting your health . The wisdom of our bodies is amazing! So, if you are experiencing lung chal-lenges during the fall, it is because your lungs want to cleanse any negative and acidic Qi out of your system as soon as possible . This is a good thing . So, love your cough and be grateful to the lung system for removing that acidic Qi from your body and giving it back to the Universe!

You may also be experiencing some changes in your intestinal tract during this time of year . Not only may the lungs remove the Qi through coughing, but if you eat something that has this acidic and negative Qi, the body releases it by having diarrhea right away . This is because the large intestine and the lung energy system work closely together .

You may be thinking to yourself, “This is great information, but how can I actually work with the autumn energy to cleanse my body and be healthy?”

There are so many things you can do! You can even use food to support your lung energy; remember, “You are what you eat .”

Olive oil is very good for you . In the morn-ing, have a teaspoonful of olive oil and then some Yin-Yang water or boiled water that has cooled to room-temperature . Master Lin does this throughout the year, but especially in the autumn . This is a great way to protect and strengthen your lungs . Because the lung energy works so closely with the large intestine energy, when you have that teaspoonful of olive oil to help your bowel movements, it also helps support your lung system .

Black sesame seeds, lotus root, spinach, carrots, pears, and apples are also good this time of year . If you are experiencing some coughing, you can steam an Asian pear to help strengthen your lung energy .

Autumn is the season of harvesting and a season of restoring the body’s energy. You should feel very satisfied with what

you have or what you are going to have.

Now that it is autumn, it is best to eat less spicy food . Spicy food corresponds with lung energy . When the lungs are already on duty, adding more spicy food to your diet can over-stimulate this energy . So, it is best to limit it throughout the day, but especially in the evening . If you find yourself in a situation where you are served spicy food, like at a restaurant or at a friend’s home, then you can drink a little bit of vinegar or apple cider to help bal-ance the energy right away .

In this season, it is also very important to make sure you drink warm water and eat warm food as much as pos-sible . Don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink your water . When you feel thirsty, that means your lungs have been lacking water for some time, so the best idea is to drink water regularly throughout the day .

If you are one of the many people who experience morning allergies in this season, Master Lin recom-mends that you have a pinch of sea salt . Add that pinch of sea salt to your water or to your breakfast . This can help to strengthen your lungs and help to relieve allergies .

If you have coughing, lung illnesses, or energy blockages in the lungs, it is also best not to eat food with sugar (or any sweet product) in the morning . Nat-ural foods like bananas or apples are okay . Otherwise, foods with sugar can trigger mucus . Sometimes people will have a cold or a sore throat and put honey in hot water, thinking that will help them; in reality, the sugar in honey can produce more mucus, so they end up coughing even more!

Master Lin also encourages us to do a fast some-time during autumn. (Always talk to your doctor first if you have any health conditions . This way, you can be sure fasting will not cause you any problems .)

There are different ways to fast . You can do a one-day fast or you can do two or three days of fasting . It depends on your health and your physical situation . If fasting is right for you, you begin by telling your body what you want .

For example: “I want to cleanse my system and clear all of the unnecessary forms of energy in my body, so I am going to do this fasting for you, my body . I thank you!” Then, you tell your body when you are going to start . “I am going to start on Friday evening, and I am going to end on Sunday morning .” If you feel fasting with only water is too much for you, you can eat just one apple for an entire one-day fast . Most bodies can tolerate that very well .

When you fast, you help to reboot and strengthen your immune and lymph systems .

It is also important to be aware of your emotions during this season . If you have experienced grief, sadness, depression, or trauma, that information hidden deep inside of you can be triggered, so that the emotions feel even stronger . Why is this?

Autumn is the season of harvesting and a season of restoring the body’s energy . You should feel very satis-fied with what you have or what you are going to have. Sometimes that may not be the case, though.

For men, if you are not seeing the result of what you planned for earlier in the year, if you do not see the

will feel fear, worries, and anxiousness, which can make you feel sad and depressed .

For women, if you don’t believe in your subcon-scious mind that you have enough money or enough food (or anything like that concerning survival), or you don’t have enough protection – especially if you had a life trauma before, – then in this season, the energy of grief, sadness, and depression can easily rise to the surface .

For men and women alike, when these emotions arise, it is important that you do something to let go of them . Otherwise, they will take over and you will feel sad and depressed . This depression and sadness can harm your lungs .

So, what can you do to help with these kinds of emotions?

The fourth movement in the Five Element Qigong Healing Movements is just the thing . This movement is called Connecting to Your Own Energy . Doing this movement, you feel so satisfied and content with yourself. You focus on finding a reason to feel to be satisfied with what you have, because there are so many great things around you – physically, emotion-ally and spiritually . If you want to learn this healing movement (and others), you can find it in our online shop:

A Little Qigong for the EyesOne of the most beautiful aspects of Qigong (and

the traditional Chinese philosophy and medical theory behind it) is its simplicity .

Most of the people who come to Spring Forest Qigong – whether to a class, to the Healing Center in Minnesota, to a practice group, or even to a home-study course, – come because of a health challenge .

It really is astounding .

Cancers of every kind and every stage . Chronic fatigue . Dementia . Arthritis . Anxiety . Depression . Pain and neuropathy . So many conditions and challenges with so many names and so many sources . . . and yet, so often, with so few answers .

And what does Spring Forest Qigong say?

Ultimately, it comes down to energy and energy blockages .

Everything in the Universe, in the body or outside it, is a kind of energy . When the energy in the body flows freely and abundantly, the body is healthy. When the energy gets blocked, some places get too much energy and others get too little . If this continues too long, eventually the blockages give rise to sickness and disease .

The solution, then, is to clear the blockages .

When energy can flow freely and abundantly again, the body can heal itself . It is just that simple . All the techniques of Spring Forest Qigong come back to that, whether it is the movements and meditations

you do for yourself or the techniques you use to help others .

One of the most beautiful aspects of Spring Forest Qigong in particular is that, even among the thou-sands of other Qigong forms, it is especially simple and especially powerful .

So, sometimes to all these different people’s sur-prise – whether they have this cancer or that cancer, chronic fatigue or arthritis, depression, chronic pain, or any of a hundred other things, – they find that by doing the same few gentle movements and medita-tions, all their symptoms and challenges with their many names and sources fade away and the body heals, leaving the peace and contentment of a healthy body and an open heart full of joy .

What in the world does this have to do with your eyes?

All this is to say – we know!

We hear it every day, we see it every day, and we have lived it ourselves in our own Qigong healing journeys .

When fear or worry over a health challenge drive you and you come to Spring Forest Qigong, you think – “That’s it? I have glaucoma, she has stage four cancer, she has I .B .S ., and he has anxiety, and you’re telling me we can all do the same thing and all still heal?”

Well – yes! We hear it every day, see it every day, and we have lived it ourselves .

When energy can flow freely and abundantly

again, the body can heal itself. It is just that

simple.

“”

Remember that Qigong does not chase symptoms . It goes straight to the source, straight to the root; in the end, a few kinds of energy blockages can give rise to a thousand differ-ent symptoms . This is as true for challenges of the eyes – you name them – as anything else .

So, this is all to say... first: if you had the good fortune to hear about Qigong, the best thing you can do is decide to make it a daily practice . Even a little bit! A little time for gentle healing movements (like the Five Elements) and a little time for a sitting meditation (like Small Universe) will not only help to balance any energy imbalances (physical, emotional, or otherwise) at the root of your eye challenges, but it will lay the foundations for what you may find is a complete transfor-mation of your life for the better .

You know what we’re going to say . . . We hear it every day, see it every day, and we have lived it ourselves!

But, of course, there are still some techniques that you can use that will help your eyes specifically. There are several, in fact . Here, we want to share one with you, straight from Mas-ter Chunyi Lin’s Head to Toe Healing book – a real treasury of healing techniques . This technique is good for any kind of eye challenge, but especially things like allergic reactions, glauco-ma, and crossed eyes .

It is very simple .

Just sit up straight, look forward, and relax . Your eyes can be open or closed, but if they are closed, you are less likely to get dizzy . Simply roll your eyes 36 times one way, then 36 times the other way . Do this three times . Even better, do this three times a day . Here is an illustration to help you:

Now, if you begin a daily Qigong practice like we described above, take the “100 Day Qigong Challenge,” and do this eye exercise – wow! That will be just the best . Your eyes will love you, your body will love you, and we will love you . Actually, we already love you, but we will also be very impressed .

On that note, if you try this tip out and take the challenge, why not write us at https://www .springforestqigong .com/share-your-story and tell us your healing story? Then, everyone will be impressed (and inspired)!

INGREDIENTS

• 2 1/2 cups of coarsely chopped fresh pumpkin or winter squash

• 3 cups of organic vegetable or chicken broth

• 3 cloves of garlic peeled and minced

• 5 whole cloves

• 2 inch piece of fresh ginger peeled and minced

• 1 medium onion peeled and minced

• 1 tablespoon of raw unfiltered coconut oil

• 1/2 cup of organic non-gmo plain soymilk or almond milk

• 2 tablespoons roasted golden brown sesame seeds

• 1/4 cup of fresh cilantro (Chinese parsley) leaves as garnish

• salt & pepper to taste

PREPARATION Choose smaller, younger pumpkins . They are easier to cut, seed and peel .

When cooking pumpkin, it’s easiest to coarsely chop into pieces that are one inch or so in size .

If cutting fresh pumpkin is too much of a task, you can use organic canned pumpkin . You can also use yam and or carrot with the pumpkin and keep the amount to 2 1/2 cups total .

Peel and mince ginger, onion and garlic . Clean cilantro and remove stems and discard .

To roast raw sesame seeds, place a dry frying pan

(no oil) on medium high heat and add sesame seeds . Shake the pan regularly as sesame seeds roast very quickly – about 4-5 minutes . As soon as they are done, toss in a bowl to cool for a minute and then crush them a bit to release their aroma and healing benefits .

COOKING

1 . Combine broth, pumpkin and cloves in a stockpot . Bring to a boil and reduce heat to low and simmer for approximately 15-20 minutes .

2 . In a frying pan or wok add the 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and heat on medium . Add the ginger, onion and garlic and cook for 5-6 minutes until the onions are translucent .

3. Remove the 5 cloves floating on the top of the pumpkin and broth .

4 . Add the soy milk, ginger, onions and garlic to the pumpkin and broth .

5 . Puree in the pot with a hand blender or blend in batches using a food processor . Using a hand blender is so easy and fast .

6 . Add salt and pepper to taste and garnish each bowl with some springs of cilantro and crushed toasted sesame seeds .

Enjoy!

Q How long does one have to practice to get rid of

all of the illnesses that you’ve talked about?

MASTER LIN: Long? I wish i could tell you 10 hours or 20 hours—something like that .

Illnesses come and go—they don’t always stay around . So if i have a cold right now, after i get rid of this cold, am i going to get another cold in the future? You know the answer, right?

Blockages and illnesses come and go because of so many reasons—from your emotions, the environ-ment, changes of the seasons, changes of the weather, and some-times even from the good food you eat . If your digestive system is not ready for that good food then you could get diarrhea .

So all these energy blockages come and go, come and go, come and go, and that’s why we need to do exercises . We need to keep an eye on our diet . We need to do Qigong all the time and put it into our daily life. Every day find time to do Qigong and exercise a half hour to one hour, and when those blockages form in your body at a very early level, you can help to get rid of them . Since I began prac-ticing Qigong, I’ve had only a few colds . So i just feel so, so blessed, and I have more time to watch tv than anyone else in the world . (Ha ha!) Even when I’ve practiced Qi-gong every day for many years on this level, once in a while i still

have a cold . I still get a shared virus from my daughter or from my family. But the benefit I have is that by sitting down for a few minutes to a half hour or so, I’m able to balance a cold which might have lasted for seven days in the past if I didn’t do Qigong .

So you might say that doing Qi-gong every day is just so, so boring and no fun . Whenever I hear a comment like that I always laugh from my lower dantian . Many, many americans that i know, every morning they get up, go to the coffee machine, and spend 20 minutes to half an hour stand-ing there waiting for their cup of coffee to come out . They need the caffeine—the energy; it’s become part of their body . If they don’t drink that cup of coffee they say the whole day will feel just miser-able . Well, put Qigong in your life like that . Say to yourself, “if today I don’t do Qigong, I will feel so miserable .” What do you think? It is a matter of the way you look at your life .

Qigong can help you to prevent larger energy blockages in your body and give you more pro-ductive time and more energy throughout your day . So why not? So find the time to do your Qi-gong . Do your exercise . Be hap-py . And things will come and go, so don’t try to do one thing only one time to take care your health forever .

Q At the beginning of each session when you do the

short meditation I get really tired . How come?

MASTER LIN: If you get tired, then you just get tired and fall asleep . It’s good for you . Sleeping is a good meditation . That means you’re already so deep in your meditation . Also, this is natural, because every day you’re so busy running here and there, and you use up a lot of your energy . Now within two or three minutes of meditation you feel even more tired and that means your body needs more energy internally, so I would recommend you slow down .

Make time to slow down to nurture your own body through medita-tion, going on vacation, or sleep-ing extra hours every day to help yourself to make up the energy you lost . That will be a great thing, so don’t worry about that . It’s a good thing .

MASTER CHUNYI LIN recently spoke at the Heart Based Medicine Summit

in San Francisco, September 2019!

Healthcare should be so much more than following protocol . It is happening NOW . The Heart Based Medicine Summit draws together the very best speakers, thought leaders, and culture shifters to co-create a new future for medicine with a compassionate heart at its center .

Master Chunyi Lin spoke about “The Healing Intelligence: The Ancient Healing Practice That Goes Beyond Mind and Body”

The ancient Chinese practice of Qigong is well-known to help prevent illnesses and heal chronic challenges . More and more people in the Western world recognize its healing power . More and more scientists are trying to understand why Qigong has healing power . But most of the studies focus solely on the mechanical and chemical results related to a person’s health .

How are these mechanical and chemical results in the body created? And how can Qigong help sustain these results for continuous benefit – for a person’s best interests of staying healthy and happy?

“Physical healing is one side, and energy healing or spiritual healing is another side. If you separate the two, it is not complete healing.”

Hi, everyone. My name is Annabelle and I am the leader of the Pax Christi Qigong Practice Group.

This July, our group celebrated its one-year anniversary. After our usual Friday practice, we went to Tea Source, a local tea brewing and import company here in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The day was beautiful and the conversation was so full of energy, sharing, love, and forward thinking.

In the course of the conversation and celebration, one of our group members suggested that each person say a few words about how their practice of Qigong had influenced them during the past year, and also share any changes they had noticed in their practice. The responses were so heartwarming and the precious love and energy each person brought to the table was very touching.

Several of the attendees recognized positive changes in their bodies and higher levels of energy in their daily lives. Others related the calming, peaceful effects of the practice and how they had felt their spirituality grow deeper. They all described the connection that they felt to one another and to Spring Forest Qigong.

Everyone enjoyed the Five Element Healing Movements and the understanding they gained of how each movement is connected to specific functions and organs in the body. They also liked our discussions on color healing and bringing in higher vibrations of sound and chanting. Several people said how sound contributed positively to their practice, describing their emotions of peace, happiness, joy, and contentment.

Some recalled how they could move into the emptiness and the void during the meditations that were written especially for them, while a number of people expressed how much they liked our Silent Walk Meditation in the Labyrinth.

Another thing many of the practice group attendees appreciated was the “gratitude-journals,” the

weekly quotes and articles and preparatory thoughts that went into each week’s practice . These are words of encouragement and words to ponder in their hearts and spirits, encouraging them to reach out to others with kind words, forgiveness, and compassion . Words encouraging them to listen with their heart and see opportunities to do more and more good deeds for family, friends, and community – to make a big ripple in the Universe and heal our world .

Attendees acknowledged that the individual healings they received each week were stronger and that my confidence had grown, just as every member had grown in their practice, too . They also liked that we placed a chair in the middle of the group to include those who have moved away but were still in our hearts and thoughts .

But the most amazing part was a suggestion from a group member to go around the table and set some healing goals for next year . The intentions were so real and honest and deeply felt by our group . We are so looking forward to putting them into action and hearing about it at our second-year anniversary .

I would add just like to add one thing .

That is: I am the luckiest Practice Group Leader in the world, and my life has been forever changed because of this group and their unconditional love . Thank you to these beautiful men and women for an amazing and a wonderful first year.

In gratitude and love, thank you all!

HEALING STORIESHello! I would like to write a personal letter to Chunyl Lin telling him how I meditate with him with my guided meditation Healing Our World almost Everyday! I have been doing Spring Forest Qigong since 2014! I do it with him over Lake Washington in Seattle! I know the great beauty of this meditation is transmitting over the water! It is a beautiful meditation! He has also healed physical problems I have had two years on our January blessing meditations with his Monk friends! I am SO gateful!

Wendy M .

I’ve been following Master Lin for 15 years; he and SFQ have changed my life for the better in so many ways . Ironically, the physical symptom that led me to SFQ and to multiple phone and distance healings with Master Lin — migraines — has been the last thing to improve . It’s only in the last 2 years that they have gotten markedly better — so that’s 13 years of doing SFQ without my migraines improving . But EVERYTHING else in my life has gotten so much better through SFQ . I had a severe case of mitral valve prolapse in my heart that I had never mentioned to Master Lin in my healing sessions (I don’t know why — I guess I didn’t want to accept that I had a heart problem) .

Years ago in one of Master Lin’s distance healings I felt the most intensely wonderful sensation in my chest, really blissful, and that day my mitral valve prolapse was gone, never to return . I went from needing surgery and feeling tired all the time to the doctors being unable to detect any trace of mitral valve prolapse . SFQ has changed the way I view the world — I went from being very angry and embittered to being able to see joy and happiness . That, in turn, has made me a much better wife and mother, letting me be present for my family in a new way, focusing on the love that I feel for them . My career has turned around and become much more successful since practicing SFQ (I’m a Professor of Anthropology in Scotland), and I’ve been able to travel to do research and to be filmed in documentaries. Before practicing SFQ there always seemed to be a lot of roadblocks in my career, but since starting down the SFQ path, I seem to have incredible luck . I do 20 minutes of meditation in the middle of the night, and 30 minutes of moving exercise in the afternoons, so just a moderate amount of practice yields benefits. I focus on the moving exercises and meditations I like the best — as a Benedictine monk once told me,

“Pray as you can, not as you can’t” .Thank you again! Sabine H .

MASTER LIN’S

QI~TALKVIDEO

IS AVAILABLE NOW!

Long distance detecting and healing is one of Master Lin’s areas of expertise . As he always teaches, Qigong healing is signal healing and information healing . An energy blockage has a message and the ability to detect the message and “correct” the message becomes crucial to the success of Qigong healing .

In this Qi-Talk, Master Lin will focus on helping you to understand the simple process and guide you step-by-step to practice this revolutionary Spring Forest Qigong’s method to detect energy blockages from afar . For advanced SFQ practitioners, you are able go deeper into the practice and understanding, to strengthen your intuition .

No worries if you are new to SFQ; all you have to do is bring your “LOVE” to the meeting and Master Lin will show you how we were all born a healer; you can do this, too .

And . . . if you missed Master Lin and his public open meeting talk in September, no worries there, either! The video is available on our website. but not for long. It will soon be replaced with next Qi~Talk video. You can also sign up for the Spring Forest Qigong membership program to access the entire Qi~Talk video library.
