GETTING TO KNOW YOU by Doris Hoover
I am thrilled to introduce you to Mandy Rager Slody. What a grand lady, she is. She was born on September 9, 1965, in Frederica, DE to Telly and Joan Rager. Her father is a retired military Veteran; her mother held the 1991 Post Mistress position for Frederica Post Office. She has one brother, Pete. Mandy was educated within the Frederica School District graduating in the class of 1984 from Lake Forest High School. Mandy is especially fond of children and family values which led her to a professional career consisting of “home day care” and “foster care” for the young people. She is employed with Loblolly Acres, a family farm for fun, located in Woodside DE.
Mandy’s parents best friend (also military) introduced her to husband Bruce at a local dance. After a whirlwind courtship, they were married in Trinity Church, Frederica, DE. He served in the Military Special Operations Unit, retired and now County Inspector for Kent County. They have shared a happy 33 years together with three children, two girls and one boy. Adding to their happiness is an adorable, lovable granddaughter, Haven, in which we all hold dear in a special place in our hearts. The FSC senior population has become smitten with this little one, watching her grow and learn becoming a responsive junior citizen. We were all filled with glee when Haven took her first steps during the morning hours at FSC and bounced to the music at the FSC Hoedown. The most magical love of all; to enjoy the moments of a small child fulfill life’s wonders. What a delight she is to behold.
Since 2004, Mandy has served on the Town of Frederica Planning and Zoning Com-mittee. She is Financial Secretary for the Frederica Fire Company Auxiliary, and a life member of Frederica Senior Center. Her favorites are the color blue, Frederica Pizza Restaurant, ice cream, and Duncan Donuts. She enjoys camping and also reading exploring into the heart of the simpler life of the Amish through fiction.
Please welcome our lady of the month…Mandy Rager Slody.
