MONTHLY GARDEN UPDATES THANK YOU to all staff members, parents, family and volunteers who came
out and supported our Garden Work Day on Saturday 9/17. The first gardening
day of the school year is particularly arduous because it involves lots of clearing of plots and weeding. We had an amazing crew who not only cleared all big garden
beds, but, under the watchful eyes of Bryanna and Barbara, cleared, amended and spruced up the I/T/YP gardens for Jean Barbre's photo shoot
on the 29th-- the gardens are beautiful!
Our Preschool wing classrooms will now begin to make weekly plans for their
classrooms and children to explore, experiment, share ideas, and learn
in the outdoor classroom!
Our next garden work day, on Oct 15th, will be a very busy one! Not only do we
need things done in our garden, but we also need plenty of other work done throughout the center. We have many building projects, so we are requesting Dad’s
and all other strong, hardworking family members to join! Also, we need to get ready for our upcoming Fall Literacy Night, (because that is where our
children will find their hidden pumpkins, shhh!)... it’s coming up fast, on
November 4th, so mark your calendars. And please remember to bring a snack to share and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty!

PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE The election for representatives for our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) occurs in the fall of
each school year. Nomination forms can be found in your family mailbox in September. Our Parent Advisory Committee meets on the 3rd Monday of each month from 4:00pm-6:00pm. They discuss
Children Center policies and to help guide decision making. Parents are encouraged to
nominate themselves or other interested parents. Ballots must be received prior to 5:00pm on
Friday, October 7, 2016.
Orange Coast College
will be participating in
The Great California
ShakeOut on October
20th at 10:20 am. The Children's
Center will participate by practicing
an earthquake drill prior to the
Great ShakeOut. To simulate an
earthquake, the campus will set off
fire alarms and in order to keep our
drills effective and not confuse the
children, at that point we will evacu-
ate the building as we would during
a fire drill.
