Kokopelli Notes President’s Pen Well, this is my first time writing the introduction to the newsletter as the new LOSC President! I am so honored and excited to be lead- ing such a great organization! We have an incredible LOSC Board and Advisors this year as well as all you amazing members! I think it will be one of the best years for the LOSC ever! The LOSC is a great organization and I hope you have enjoyed our first two socials! They will continue to be a lot of fun and a great chance to hang out with your fellow LOSC members and perhaps some new faces. Consider bringing a new spouse or a friend who doesn’t know that much about LOSC to our next social on the evening of October 21st - I guarantee they will have fun! Over the next couple of months you will hear more about our three big events in December - the VA Holiday Party, the Tree and Wreath Raffle and our Airmen Cookie Drive. These important holiday events take a lot of preparation and effort to execute. We hope you will consider volunteering your time and helping us this holiday season to spread a little friendship and holiday cheer through the LOSC and the greater community! Hope to see you soon! Thrift Shop News The Thrift Shop opened Wednesday September 10th. We are happy to take your consignments between 10 a. m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday & Friday. When you are cleaning out closets & cabinets think of the Thrift Shop to sell things you no longer want & make a few dollars. Our profits at the Thrift shop go to the OSC Welfare Fund which benefits organiza-tions on Luke. If you have an hour or two on Wednesday or Friday we will be happy to have you as a volunteer. Give me a call & I will answer all your questions about volunteering. ~Pudge (623) 878-7712.

Charitable OpportunitiesOasis MealsOn the second Saturday of each month, the LOSC provides a meal for 30-40 airmen who live in the dorms. If you and your squadron/organization are inter-ested in providing a meal for the dates below, please contact Susie Dunn (email below).

We would like to thank the 607th Air Control Squadron for providing an amaz-ing meal for our airmen in September. It was a great success! Thank you to those who have already committed to serving future meals. Please consider serving on one of our available dates:

October 11: Command Circle

November 8: 309th Fighter Squadron

December 13: OPEN

Ronald McDonald HouseEach year, the LOSC prepares dinner for the Ronald McDonald House. The RMH is a “home away from home” for families who must travel to recieve treatment at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The RMH provides an atmosphere of comfort, hope, and support for treatment lasting a day, a month, or longer, with low-cost housing next door to the hospital. We would like to thank the spouses of the 310th Fighter Squadron for providing the September meal.

We are working to identify more dates that the LOSC can provide meals for these families. If you would like to be involved please contact Susie Dunn. Please consider serving on one of these dates, as applies:

Susie Dunn - President & Charitable

I spent my toddler years living in Sydney, Australia. I am a natural redhead. I have a de-gree in Ocean Studies but I’ve never truly used it!

Monica Browning - 1st Vice President

We have moved 6 times in 9 years of being with my husband and I love moving! (Just not leaving friends). I don’t consider it dessert unless it is chocolate and my favorite snack is popcorn and chocolate chips. I’m a realtor by profession and I love it!

Alana Whitener - 2nd Vice President

I was born and raised in South Georgia. I lived there pretty much all my life until I met my husband and got married at age 22! I have dressed like an oompa loompa for Hal-loween at least 3 times. I hate waking up early and I love taking naps. The beach is one of my favorite places; I hope to have a condo in Destin, FL one day! I love cooking and would love to go to culinary school some day.

Lee Dismuke - Secretary

I come from Caribbean decent. Food is my weakness! I’m a huge foodie with a major sweet tooth. Anything medical is my passion and although I became a nurse (BSN, RN) in 2011, I put my career on hold to be home with my kiddos!

Meg Raymond - Admin Treasurer

I’m number 6 of 7 kids. I’m a native Phoenician. I can use my feet to eat. Using a fork, of course, because it is gross otherwise.

Christine Draper - Membership

I am the first F35 international partner spouse for Australian Air Force at Luke AFB. I recently learned how to ride a motorcycle. My favorite color is blue.

Camille Schultz - Childcare

My husband and I have been together since we were 15 years old (almost 15 years ago!). I am a nurse. I grew up in a town with a population of 115. My kids names were picked out about 5 years before they were born! We have moved 6 times in the last six years!

Cindy Jones - Reservations

I am a night owl. I could potentially be a vampire; if I could stay up all night and sleep all day, I gladly would! I never thought I would leave my hometown after college. Sixteen years and eight moves later, I stand corrected. I am a closet cake decorator. I am a perfectionist to a fault.

Gail Mondul - Special Activities (on the left)

I am from Chicagoland and I like ducks (quack, quack!). I am inspired by the col-ors blue and white. I’m in the OSC Book Club! I like pinterest too much!

Stephanie Tellefsen - Special Activities (on the right)

I am from Pittsburgh, PA - Go Steelers! I have a degree in education. I cannot stand the sound of chalk on a chalkboard (so glad schools switched to dry erase boards!) I love making homemade mint chocolate chip coconut milk ice cream. I spend as much time as I can with family and friends!

Angela Hauck - Parlimentarian

I play the piano. I had braces for 6 years (and a bad perm simultaneously). I want to be a Rockette when I grow up. My favorite season is fall!

Emily Saylor - Publicity, Newsletter & Website

Between myself and the 6 members of my immediate family we hold 10 degrees from the University of Tennessee; needless to say we are die-hard Vol fans! I am an architect by profession but I also dabble in painting, photography and writing. Nashville is my home and I think its the best city in the world. And I think I can say that because I love to travel and have been to approximately 20 countries. Trip planning is one of my favorite hobbies!

Tamara Smith - Scholarships

I am an Air Force brat and an only child. Miami, FL is where I call home. I have 3 handsome boys named Ivan, Keith and Kristian. I am a huge sports fantatic for the Miami Heat and the Florida State Seminoles!

Nicole Ladd - Hospitality

I recently got involved in the Luke Experience (the base theater). I like to dance. I’m addicted to pintrest!

Erica Lowe - Welfare Treasurer Ashley Herndon - Hospitality

Barb Meyer - Retired Spouses Pudge Hoskins - Thrift Shop
