Welcome to the 13th Annual Tour de Jefferson, presented by Laitram, produced by

Premier Event Management, and hosted by the Jefferson Chamber. We are thrilled that

you have joined us and appreciate your support of our organization and the Jefferson

Parish community! We have a fantastic day planned for you. Be sure to hold on to this

Event Guide - it’s full of important information including an itinerary, route maps, contact

information, safety reminders and more. Special thanks to Councilman Ricky Templet for

After you finish up your ride, join us for some fun and relaxation at the LiveWell Fin du Tour Party! The Fin du Tour will take place at Parc des Familles where the ride begins and ends. Enjoy food and drinks from local vendors, live music by Sweet Crude, and more!

• The ride will start at 7 AM SHARP. All participants must arrive by 7:15 AM in order to participate

• Police coverage on the route will start at 7:30 AM and end at 11 AM

• ALL riders must be off the road by 11 AM at the latest

• It is the rider’s responsibility to choose the route that is a best-fit for their experience level. Please select a

route that you can complete in under 3.5 hours

• All participants must be 13 years of age or older to ride in the 2019 Tour de Jefferson

• Bike trailers and attached child seats will not be permitted at the Tour de Jefferson

• All participants must sign their own waiver in order to receive their rider packet

• Riders between the ages of 13 and 17 must provide a waiver signed by a parent or guardian in order to ride

• All riders must wear a helmet, regardless of age

• No animals will be permitted on the routes for Tour de Jefferson 2019

In order to minimize congestion along the route, riders will begin to enter into the lineup by 7:15 AM.

Start time: 7:30 AM Recommended arrival time: 5:30 - 7:15 AM

You must arrive by 7:15 AM to ride. The ride will begin at 7:30 AM SHARP.

NOTE: Parking area is down the road from rider check-in. Please allow yourself time to park.

You MUST have the full Rider Identification Kit (helmet number, bib number, and bike number) to ride in the Tour de Jefferson.

Carry photo identification and keep it handy; you may be asked to show it.

You must notify ride staff if a rider is replacing you. The replacing rider must also sign a waiver.

Faster cyclists pass on the left. Slower-paced cyclists stay to the right.

Your safety and the safety of other bicyclists depends on you. You have the same rights and duties as drivers. Obey traffic signals and stop signs UNLESS a police officer is directing you otherwise. Ride with traffic and use the rightmost lane headed in the direction you are going.

Move completely off the road if stopping for any reason.

Use hand signals when turning or stopping. Signal with your voice before passing; call out “on your right”or “on your left.”

Exercise extreme caution when changing lanes. Please be aware that you are riding next to traffic for several sections of the route.

Please be aware of your surroundings. Do NOT ride with headphones under any circumstances.

Control speed and slow down for congestion and hazardous conditions.

Keep at least one hand on the handlebar at all times and remember to cycle defensively. Be prepared for moves by other cyclists.

Slow down when approaching one of our 3 rest areas. Make sure your Rider Identification Kit is visible. You will be asked to leave the event if you do not have all three items (helmet number, bib, and bike number). Please be aware of the time you are spending at rest stops. This ride does have a time limit.
