BEARING THE RIGHT KIND OF FRUIT Today's readings focus our attention on vineyards. Isai-ah's song concerning his friend's vineyard begins with inspiring and poetic images of an idyllic vineyard where the choicest harvest is expected. Instead, the vineyard yields wild grapes, which causes the owner to abandon it. The psalmist cries out to God, asking that God once again take care of the vineyard, which is the house of Israel. The parable told in today's Gospel offers a stern warning that those who commit treachery in the hopes of attaining personal wealth will be "put . . . to a wretched death" (Matthew 21:41). Jesus warns his listeners not to act like the murderous tenants in the vineyard. Instead he exhorts them to produce the kind of fruit that will lead them to the kingdom of God.

THÔNG BÁO – CT GIÁO LÝ SONG NGỮ

1. Chương trình Giáo Lý Song Ngữ kính mời quí phụ huynh tham dự buổi họp Phụ Huynh Toàn Trường vào ngày Chúa Nhật 15 tháng 10, 2017, từ 1:30 đến 3:00 giờ chiều tại Hội Trường nhà xứ. Đây là buổi họp cần thiết để quý phụ huynh biết những điều quan trọng trong Chương Trình Giáo Lý, và sự an toàn hầu giúp con em của quý vị trở nên người khôn ngoan, đạo đức trong gia đình và xã hội. Trân trọng kính mời.

2. Chúng tôi cũng xin kính mời quí phụ huynh và các em học Giáo Lý giờ I và giờ II tham dự Thánh Lễ Khai Giảng Giáo Lý vào sáng thứ Bảy ngày 21 tháng 10, 2017 lúc 9:30 sáng tại nhà thờ. Các em xếp hàng trước Hội Trường theo từng lớp lúc 8:45 sáng. Qúy Thầy Cô sẽ dẫn các em vào nhà thờ để cầu nguyện và suy niệm gương Thánh nhân trước Thánh lễ. Sau Thánh lễ mỗi em sẽ lên dâng hoa kính Đức Mẹ Fatima. Xin quý phụ huynh cho mỗi em $1.00 bỏ vào rổ tiền nhà thờ để chi phí mua hoa; số tiền dư sẽ giúp học sinh nghèo tại Việt Nam. Các em sẽ được nghỉ học ngày hôm nay.

News! Giờ chầu Thánh Thể hàng tháng của Giáo xứ trong tháng 10 sẽ bắt đầu vào lúc 11 giờ đêm thứ Bảy mồng 7 tháng 10, và sẽ kết thúc vào lúc 6 giờ sáng Chúa Nhật 8 tháng 10. Xin cộng đoàn dân Chúa hãy bỏ ra một tiếng trong ngày này để đến với Chúa Thánh Thể.

DAR BUEN FRUTO Las lecturas de hoy ponen su atención en las viñas. El cántico de Isaías respecto a la viña de su amada comienza con inspira-doras y poéticas imágenes de una idílica viña de la cual se espera la más exquisita cosecha. En cambio, la viña da uvas agri-as, lo cual hace que el dueño la abandone. El salmista clama a Dios, pidiéndole que la visite otra vez, ya que es la casa de Israel. La parábola que cuenta hoy el Evangelio ofrece la seria advertencia de que a los que cometen traición esperando ob-tener ganancia personal se les "dará muerte terrible" (Mateo 21:41). Jesús advierte a sus oyentes que no actúen como los viñadores asesinos en la viña. Más bien los exhorta a que produzcan el tipo de fruto que los llevará al Reino de Dios.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE La Virgen María tiene siglos de estar apareciéndose a los cristianos. Aún antes de que fuese asunta al cielo, ella ya se le había aparecido al apóstol Santiago en Zaragoza, España. Según una antigua leyenda, Santiago llegó a tierra española en el año 40 para predicar el Evangelio. Tuvo poco éxito y desanimado pensaba sacudirse de los pies el polvo de aquella tierra y buscar convertir otras gentes. Mientras estaba en oración, María, la madre de Jesús, se le apareció con palabras de consue-lo, ánimo y un pequeño obsequio. Le dio una imagen de ella misma sobre un pilar y con el Niño Jesús en brazos. En esa tierra ella pidió la construcción de un templo donde ella misma sería altar para la gloria de Dios. Santiago mismo con-struyó la primera iglesia donde hoy se encuentra una gran basílica en honor de Nuestra Señora del Pilar. En el siglo XVIII, el Papa Clemente XII declaró el 12 de octubre como su fiesta en memoria de la llegada de los europeos al continente america-no.
