Faith Journey - We will begin a 3-week study of the book, Following Jesus Without Embarrassing God, on Sunday, Oct. 9 from 3:30 - 4:30 in Room 201. Childcare is offered. For more information about this new group for Gen Xers, contact Carol Coleman at [email protected] or (480) 838-1446.

Explorer’s Class - “Justice for the Poor” is the topic for this 6-week series that begins this morning. Jim Wallis, evangelical Christian and editor of Sojourner’s Magazine, will be featured in this dvd/discussion series. What does Jesus say about how the church should deal with the issue of poverty and other social ills? Are we fulfilling our calling as the “salt of the earth?” Class meets at 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room. Jane Baker will facilitate.

Adult Bible Study Class meets at 9:00 a.m. in Room 112. We are currently discussing Genesis. If you are interested or have any questions, contact Cathy Smoot at (480) 497-2948.

Contemporary Issues - This 10:30 a.m. adult class is studying the origins of the Bible, how it has evolved over time, and how it is interpreted today. This journey of discovery about the rich traditions and mysteries from archeological discoveries and Biblical scholarship, will help us explore and understand how this book has become the most influential writings in human history. Join us as we read, discuss and learn about the Bible’s ancient beginnings and our present day interpretations.

When Children Ask About God: A Guide for Parents Who Don’t Always Have All the Answers - Monday Moms & Dads Group will begin a study of this book by Harold Kushner on Oct. 24, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. in Room 111. Family Promise - Dayspring will host Family Promise, a program for homeless families, Oct. 16-23. Volunteers are needed to donate food, spend the night, moved beds from our church to the next, set up, tear down, cook, and accompany the families during the day on Saturday...and/or wash the laundry. United Methodist Women - The Greeting Card Circle will meet on Thursday, Oct. 6th, at 9:30 a.m. in Room 112. The Central East District UMW Annual Celebration will be held at Red Mountain UMC, Oct. 8 th, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

50+ - Friday, Oct. 21st begins the new season for 50 Plus! “Highlights of the Dayspring 2011 Tour Choir’s European Trip” will be presented by Mrs. Robert Smith (Pauline). Bring newcomers, friends, or visitors with you to this interesting program. The buffet lunch begins at 12:00 noon in the Shalimar Country Club Restaurant. Singles at Dayspring -Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. October 2 - My Big Fat Greek Restaurant - 3305 W. Chandler Blvd., just west of the 101.

Brown Bag Lunch - Come join us for Brown Bag Lunch every Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Bring your own lunch and socialize with people from the church. We always have a good time! Come and be part of this fun group!
