Uncommon Favor

THE WORDJANUARY 2017

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52).

n Be All In

If your heart is divided between the world and God, if it is distracted with the cares of life, or if you’re holding on to an offense, you will hinder the powerful flow of favor.

n Bless What God is Blessing

God is wanting us to bless Him by blessing His saints, those who are do-ing His work from a right heart. Find ways to sow into their life and bless them by praying fervently for them.

T he Greek word for grace is “charis”. It means divine in-

fluence upon the heart and its re-flection in the life. An increase in favor begins with an increase in God’s knowledge and wisdom, and increasing in obedience. Here are some ways to manifest divine and uncommon favor in your life.

n Watch Your WordsDeath and life are in the power of the tongue. Speak life over your situ-ation, not death. Speak the truth of God’s Word, not what the devil is saying. Also guard your ear gate from harmful words of others that are sent to destroy you. Let your response be what God is saying.

n Have a No Strife Policy in Your Life

Don’t fuss and fight with people. If they refuse to hear or refuse to walk in peace with you, leave them alone. Strife hinders the flow of God’s grace and favor in your life.

2017—The Year of Uncommon Favor

The WordObedience is The Key!

Prayer: Father God, thank You for speaking directly into my heart. Thank You for Your favor and love. I open myself to You and ask that You have divine influence on my heart. Let Your character and nature rub off on me. I receive Your wisdom and I yield my life completely to You. I ask that You release Your flow of grace in my life and that You are glorified in me. In Jesus name, Amen.

THE WORD 2

PROVOKING UNCOMMON FAVOR thousands to God! The motivation for Solomon’s offerings of thou-sands was obviously his love for God. According to the scriptures, Solomon loved the Lord, and it was this love that actually propelled him to give in a dimension that no one has done before. Love is a very strong force that drives a man to go the extra mile for God; a man that is propelled by love for God will never consider any sacrifice too much to make for Him! There’s

no way you can provoke heaven for uncommon favor if you are the type that does not put God first in all things. Your love for God is demonstrated in the way you han-dle your relationship with Him. If other things have taken the place of God in your heart so much that you have pushed God to the back seat in your plans, thoughts, con-siderations, dreams, aspirations and pursuits in life, there’s no way

heaven can release uncommon fa-vor upon you. Uncommon favor gets attracted to you once God is attracted to you; when you deeply love the Lord, He will be attracted to you. Any offering or sacrifices offered to God while you yourself are far from and rebellious against God, are worthless and useless! Another secret of the un-common favor heaven released upon Solomon was the size of his offerings. Everything Solo-mon gave to the Lord was given in thousands: a thousand ram, a thousand oxen, a thousand sheep, all things in thousands! Solomon’s sacrifice was the first of its kind, it was ground-breaking! Since he gave to God in a dimension no-body has ever done, God also re-sponded to him in a way He has not responded to anyone before! Wide and permanent doors were opened in heaven upon Solomon so much that he experienced un-ceasing harvests and uncommon favor throughout the years he reigned as king. Truth is, the size of your seeds will determine the size of your harvests! According to 2 Corinthians 9:6, he who sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully. There’s no limit to the harvest heaven can deliver to you, it’s the size of your seeds however that determines the size of harvests you receive. One of the indisputable laws of harvest is that bountiful harvests always follow generous sowing just as day follows night! God cannot be mocked, to provoke uncommon favor, your offerings and services to God and His kingdom must be extra ordinary. If you’re not will-

And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his fa-

ther: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places. And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar. In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.” 1 Kings 3:3-5 Heaven has never failed to react any time it is provoked. Your actions and inactions have the ability to either provoke God to anger or provoke Him to bless you, the type of reactions you get from heaven is all determined by you! According to the above scriptures, heaven responded to Solomon in a way it has never responded to any-one before; the level of favor Solo-mon enjoyed with God was ex-traordinary, and this clearly placed him ahead and above all kings that ever ruled in Israel or Judah. What was the secret, why would God single out a man for a level of ex-ceptional favor which no one has ever enjoyed? The scripture re-veals that God is no respecter of persons, Solomon at the very be-ginning of his reign discovered the secrets of provoking heaven for uncommon favor, he engaged the right keys, and that was why heav-en responded in a special way! The first key Solomon en-gaged to unlock heaven for un-common favor was his love for God. Solomon’s burnt offering of thousands was unusual; before him, it’s not on record that anyone has ever offered burnt offerings of

PROVOKING UNCOMMON FAVOR

WOG NEWSLETTER: THE WORD

but when the Lord placed an open cheque before him, all he asked for was God’s wisdom. Of a truth wisdom is the principal thing and Christ is the wisdom of God! Those who pursue riches and good things of the world at the expense of God are unwise, they can never be satisfied in life, in fact they usu-ally live and die miserable! To keep the doors of uncommon favor per-manently opened upon your life, you must place God where He be-longs, the very centre of your life. Once God has taken His place in

your life and you maintain a strong relationship with Him, you will not fall out of favor. Many actually began their journey well with God and as a result enjoyed His favor, but somehow somewhere, they missed it. It is a terrible thing to fall out of favor with God, and that is the reason you must immediate-ly return to Him for restoration. It is possible for you to experience uncommon favor everyday of your life if you know how to provoke God to actions in your favor! n

ing to do beyond what you are do-ing at the moment, you may never provoke heaven to release uncom-mon favor. It is possible for you to change your level by increas-ing the level of your commitment to God. If you want to experience great harvests of blessings and fa-vor, simply do more for God. It must be emphasized that you can walk in the realm of uncommon favor only if you set your priorities right. Solomon cer-tainly had need of several things,

BUT GOD . . .

But God…Means that Love, on Comforting Wings, comes for me - comes to see me through.

But God…Means that an intentional Love surrounds me, is here for me.

With Jesus by my side, how magnificent, beautiful, and sustaining is the phrase But God…

And for that reason My Help is the Word; The Word which is God.

God is my Hope. God is my Light.

God is my Strength. God is my Shelter.

God is my Love, and He is always at my side.

I will rest in Him because He is my Strong Tower.

Excerpt from “Triumphant: Created For Victory Destined For Glory” by Marnie Baker

Despair like vulture wings continuously beat at my heart. How do I keep the walls from crumbling down all around me?

Do you see me my Lord; My God, My King?I stand here struggling trying my best to hold up four crumbling walls with only two small hands.

I’m hopeless. I’m helpless. I’m desolate. I’m pained. I’m alone.But God…Means that Hope Lives.But God…Means that Help arrives.

A little bit of couscous is a great way to bind the spicy, lemony dressing with the roasted vegetables and chickpeas. This dish is wonderful during times of fasting but enjoy it any time, to cleanse the digestion of meat. The salad can be served warm, room temperature, or chilled. Bon Appetit!

Moroccan-Spiced Roasted Cauliflower and Carrot Salad with Chickpeas and Couscous

INGREDIENTS1 head cauliflower (about 1 pound), trimmed to 1-inch florets8 ounces carrots (about 1 small bunch), peeled and cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices3 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil1/2 tsp. salt1/2 cup whole-wheat couscous1 (14.5-ounce) can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained3 green onions, thinly sliced1/2 cup chopped fresh Italian parsley1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro1/4 cup chopped pitted brine-cured green olives1/4 cup currants1/4 cup chopped toasted almondsAdditional Italian parsley sprigsLemon wedges

For Moroccan-Spiced Dressing: 1 tsp. cumin seed1 tsp. coriander seed1/2 tsp. turmeric1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil3 Tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice2 garlic cloves, pressed1/4 tsp. kosher salt

DIRECTIONSPreheat the oven to 450°F. Brush a heavy large rimmed sheet pan with olive oil. In a medium bowl,

toss the cauliflower and carrots with the 3 tablespoons olive oil. Spread the cauliflower mixture in a single layer on the pre-pared sheet pan and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Roast the vegetables in the oven until browned in places and tender, stirring once, about 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, bring 1/2 cup water and the remaining 1/4 tea-spoon salt to a simmer in a heavy small saucepan. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the couscous. Cover and let stand 5 minutes. Fluff the couscous with a fork. Transfer the couscous to a large bowl; mix in the cauliflower, carrots, garbanzo beans, green onions, chopped parsley, cilantro, ol-ives, and currants. Whisk the Moroccan-Spiced Dressing to blend; add to the salad and mix well. Season the salad to taste with salt and pepper. (Salad can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)

Sprinkle almonds over the salad and garnish with parsley sprigs. Serve with lemon wedges.

Dressing: Stir the cumin and the coriander seeds in a small, heavy dry saucepan over medium-high heat until toasted and fragrant, about 30 seconds. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the turmeric and cinnamon. Let the spices cool slightly and transfer them to a mortar and pestle or small spice grinder and coarsely grind.

In a small bowl, combine the spices with the olive oil, lem-on juice, garlic, and salt, and whisk to blend.

THE WORD 10

“In addition,” the angel continued, “she will never argue with you or complain. She wont nag you or talk back to you either. For every command you give her, she’ll simply reply, “yes master.” She’ll clean your house, and tend to your every desire.”

Adam had a sparkle in his eye and said with excite-ment, “Wow, that sounds amazing. I’d really like to have something like that. But what’s it going to cost me?” The angel said, “Well Adam, it’s going to cost you your right arm, and a leg.”

Adam thought about it for a while, and then re-plied, “What can I get for just a rib?”

THE ORGANIST. The minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to, at the end of the worship service, ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting for repairs to the church building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that the regular organist was out and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute.

The substitute wanted to know what to play. “Here’s a copy of the service,” he said impatiently. “But you’ll have to think of something to play after I make the announcement about the finances.”

During the service, the minister paused and said, “Brothers and sisters, we are in great difficulty. The roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected, and

STANDING AT THE GATES OF HEAVEN. At the end of the age when all the believers were standing in line waiting to get into heaven, the angel Gabriel appeared and said, “I want all the men to form two lines. One line will be for the men who were the true heads of their households. The other will be for the men who were dominated by their wives.”Gabriel continued, “And now we need all of the women to report to Mary and Martha on the other side of the gate.”The women left while the men hurriedly formed two lines. The line of men who were dominated by their wives was seemingly unending. The line of men who were the true head of their household had just one man standing in it.Gabriel said to the first line, “You men ought to be ashamed of yourselves. You were appointed to be the heads of your households and you have not ful-filled your purpose. Of all of you, there is only one man who obeyed.”Then Gabriel turned to the lone man and asked, “How did you come to be in this line?”The man sheepishly replied, “My wife told me to stand here.”

CONSIDER THE COST. One day an angel appeared to Adam. The angel said, “Adam, I’ve got great news. God is going to create something wonderful for you.” Adam said, “Oh, what is it?

The angel said, “It’s not an “it,” it’s a “she.” God is going to make something called a woman.” Adam said, “Go on.”

The angel continued, “This is going to be wonder-ful. This woman will be made to be a lot like you physically, only much more beautiful. She will live to serve you at all times. When you are tired, she’ll give you a massage. When you are hungry, she’ll feed you. She’ll come and bow down to you in the morning and when you return from working in the garden in the evening. She’ll live to serve your every pleasure each day.”

we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up.”

At that moment, the substitute organist played “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

And that is how the substitute became the regular.

AFRAID OF THE DARK. A little boy was afraid of the dark. One night his mother told him to go out to the back porch and bring her the broom. The little boy turned to his mother and said, “Mama, I don’t want to go out there. It’s dark.”

The mother smiled reassuringly at her son. “You don’t have to be afraid of the dark,” she explained. “Jesus is out there. He’ll look after you and protect you.”

The little boy looked at his mother real hard and asked, “Are you sure he’s out there?” “Yes, I ‘m sure. He is everywhere, and he is always ready to help you when you need him,” she said.

The little boy thought about that for a minute and then went to the back door and cracked it a little. Peering out into the darkness, he called, “Jesus? If you’re out there, would you please hand me the broom?

MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE. I needed some supplies from a Sunday School cupboard that was seldom used and was secured with a lock. I didn’t know the combination, but our clergyman offered to give it a try. Father Jack placed his fingers on the lock’s dial and raised his eyes heavenward for a moment. Then he confidently spun the dial and opened the lock. Seeing how impressed I was with this demonstration of faith, he smiled and confided, “The numbers are written on the ceiling.” n
